Click on the respective link to start the download. If you have already bought XDK but do not have access to the community yet please register. 1.2 Launch the installer Unzip the zip file and double click the executable to run the installation process. Perform the following steps: - Click Next, Read the License Agreement, Choose to accept the terms - Click Next, choose the destination folder - Click Next, Choose where you d like to create a shortcut for the XDK - Click Next, Read the Installation Summary - Click Install, Wait while the XDK workbench installs - Press Done when the Installation is complete - Installation is now complete. 1.3 Learn more From here you can look through documentation for the XDK or eclipse environment. You can also jump into developing your own program by pressing the Click & Go button. A good place to start however is to import one of the demo programs provided or to look at one of the XDK examples.

3 Workbench Installation Guide Page 3 2. Updating XDK Workbench Quicklinks: - FAQ and known problems Note: Why should I always update the XDK Workbench? You should always work with our latest released version of the XDK Workbench. This way you will have the newest API functionality and bug fixes for your optimal IoT experience. XDK Workbench has a built-in update functionality that ensures, that you are always using the latest version. XDK Workbench automatically checks for updates regularly. Step 1: Check for updates In XDK-Workbench, click on Help -> Check for Updates Step 2: XDK Workbench will contact the XDK Software Update Site and look for new versions of the XDK Workbench.

4 Workbench Installation Guide Page 4 Step 3: Select all updates that XDK Workbench offers and click on Next Step 4: XDK Workbench presents you a list of components that will be updated. Continue by clicking on Next.

5 Workbench Installation Guide Page 5 Step 5: In case an update contains new licenses, please check them thoroughly. Decide if you want to accept the licenses (all at once) and click on Finish. Step 6: XDK Workbench will now download the updated components. This may take a couple of minutes, depending on your internet connection. Step 7: Before installing the updates, XDK Workbench requires you to verify the code signature certificate of. Please check it and press OK.

6 Workbench Installation Guide Page 6 Step 8: After installing the updates, XDK Workbench must be restarted. 2.1 XDK Workbench Update problems within BGN (Bosch Global Network) Some people inside BGN have been seeing the following error message when updating XDK Workbench. This problem is likely caused by the Internet Proxy Server of Bosch. You can work around the problem by applying the simple configuration change as outlined in the following. The solution to this problem is to explicitly configure the BGN proxy server in your XDK Workbench configuration. For this, please follow these easy steps:

7 Workbench Installation Guide Page 7 Step 1: In XDK Workbench, click onto Window -> Preferences Step 2: Navigate to General -> Network Connections and switch Active Provider to Manual

8 Workbench Installation Guide Page 8 Step 3: Double click on the first line ( HTTP ). In the following dialog enter rb-proxyde.bosch.com into Host and 8080 into Port as well as your Bosch credentials into User and Password. Confirm by clicking Ok. Step 4: Double click on the second line ( HTTPS ) and enter the same information as above. Retry your XDK Workbench update.

Importing a project Quicklinks: - FAQ and troubleshooting How to import an existing project We already have provided some examples in the XDK Workbench for you. To load one of the demos simply click on one of the examples from the welcome page in the XDK Workbench. If you have an existing project or want to use a demo which is not provided in the XDK Workbench, you will need to import the necessary files. For this demonstration we will use one of our existing XDK demos called Virtual XDK. Step 1: Load the demo application into the Workbench To load the demo application, hit the click & go button. In the project explorer window right click and select Import

11 Workbench Installation Guide Page 11 Step 3: Click Next, browse to the location of the demo you want to import and select the XDK subfolder and click OK Step 4: Select the project(s) you want to import and click Finish
