3 Introduction This user manual contains installation, registration and usage instructions for DUSK-USB Encryption What s New Product versions is compatible with this User Manual. Operating Systems (OS) This version is compatible with the following OS: OS Change OS 32-bit 64-bit Windows 7 Windows 8 & 8.1 Windows 10 Server 2008 Server 2008 R2 Server 2012 R2 A DeltaCrypt solution is licensed for a single operating system (OS) version on a computer. Any upgrade of the OS or computer replacement will invalidate the license. DeltaCrypt Upgrades To safeguard your sensitive files, decrypt all protected files before upgrading. Then, re-encrypt your sensitive files after the upgrade. Upward Compatibility Please note that encrypted files secured with DeltaCrypt solution versions prior to 5.0 cannot be decrypted with onward versions. 4 Installation & Registration (if applicable) Please note that Registration is NOT possible with a demo version. Connect an empty USB device to your computer Copy the installer Dti setupduskcorporate.exe on your computer desktop Double-click it Select your language and click Next Read the license agreement, accept it and click I Agree You may need to select your USB Drive Letter. Click Next to begin installation The application will install on the USB device. Double-click the newly created DUSK-USB desktop shortcut icon Read the given information on how to properly save your file modifications If installing a demo version: The number of days until demo expiration will display. Browse and select the Master Public Key (.dpk file found in the downloaded ZIP) Enter your address Name your device for better identification Create and confirm a user password Close the application At demo expiry, you will not have access to the application interface to decrypt your files. Make sure to do so before demo expiration. If installing a purchased version: You will be asked to register your license. Click OK Enter your registration address Click button Registration Your Serial Number will display. Click OK Click OK to configure the Master Public Key Browse the Master Public Key location (The key is generated with DUSKWatch Manager) Enter your address Name your device for better identification Create and confirm a user password Close the application DeltaCrypt User Manual Page 4 of 15

5 Safe DUSK-USB Device Removal Whenever the DUSK-USB Encryption application is closed, a pop-up will remind the user to wait until all files are properly copied to the device before disconnecting the device. As stated in the above message, it is strongly recommended to use the Windows function to Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media. However, on Windows 7, experience shows that it is not always possible to get the confirmation below. To encrypt, launch your application and simply drag and drop files to its graphical interface. Drag and drop out of it to decrypt. That s it! To Launch If DUSKWatch User is installed on your PC: Otherwise: Connect your DUSK-USB protected device A DUSK-USB icon will appear on your desktop. Interface The DUSK-USB window is divided into these: PC View USB Device View Search Tool PC View The left pane allows you to view all the files and drives of the computer to which your USB device is

Search Tool On the top pane at the right of the interface is a search tool that helps in finding files on your USB device. Its usage is explained in section Menu > Search. When you select multiple files for encryption, each source file is encrypted individually. Alternately, selecting a folder for encryption will save you the trouble of clicking each file one by one. An encrypted file is generated for every original selected. This offers the advantage of decrypting just the needed file, while others remain protected. DUSK-USB creates an encrypted copy of your sources files to your protected USB device. The encryptions take on the name of the original files, which will remain intact. Furthermore, a digital signature is appended on every encryption to ensure its integrity. If the encryption is in any way altered, you will be informed by the system at decryption. 11 Editing a File It is possible to edit a file, make changes and encrypt it automatically at closing. To edit a previously encrypted file: Double-click it from the USB Device View Decryption will automatically be performed. The file will open using the editing software (if the latter is installed on the computer). Once the changes are done, follow with the instructions above Modification Save To properly save your DUSK-USB protected file: Save all modifications inside its editor Close the file with the editor DUSK-USB will automatically encrypt the file again for you. Close its application (important) If applicable: Close the DUSK-USB application and wait until encryption is completely done Securely remove your DUSK-USB protected device DeltaCrypt User Manual Page 11 of 15

12 Menu Options The options discussed below are available by clicking menu Options from the main interface. Change your settings This tab lets you change: Your password Your address Your device name The new password will be required to open the DUSK-USB protection next time DeltaCrypt User Manual Page 12 of 15

13 Language selection The purpose of this tab is to let the user choose the interface language. To change the language: Click the Language selection tab Click the drop-down menu Select between English or Français View The menu allows users to refresh the PC View or to change the level of details in the USB Device View. Details or Icons To omit file details in the USB Device View: Click menu View Select Icons to hide the file size, modification and encryption date You may later click item Details to show them again. Refresh In order to refresh the contents of the PC View: Click menu View Select item Refresh Selecting the DUSK-USB window and pressing the F5 key is equivalent to the above DeltaCrypt User Manual Page 13 of 15

14 Search The DUSK-USB solution allows you to search for encrypted files found on your device with: The Search menu The top panel at the right of the interface (above the USB Device View) In order to find files or folders: Click on Search at the right of the magnifier Enter a character string contained in the file name The search result will show in the USB Device View. The search string will be added to a list but can be removed by right-clicking it. The USB Device View will display the search result until the key name is clicked. It appears at the top of the right panel. Key name example: DUSK-Device Sebastien (E:) Troubleshooting When specific issues are detected regarding the use of DeltaCrypt Encryption Software or in the interaction between the DeltaCrypt software and the Windows environment, we indicate them in this section. If you find something that is not covered here, please let us know. The trial version is expired When your free trial version has passed its expiry date, you will be required to purchase a license in order to continue using the software. Please purchase the license and register your application as described in the present manual. I m entering the right password but it is not accepted DeltaCrypt applications are case sensitive. Make sure that you are capitalizing only the correct letters; perhaps the Caps Lock key is on.
