2 Category: Access Subcategory: Glossary Tip: Action Query Action query finds designated records and performs a sort of action on those records. Tip: Append Query Append query adds records from one table to another table. Tip: Input Mask An input mask helps to control the values that are entered into a field and might include dashes, spaces, or parentheses. Then fill in the blanks. Tip: Primary Key The primary key is the unique identifier for each record, such as an employee number, a product number, or a customer number. Tip: Record A record is all of the information collected about a specific event, thing, product, or person, such as a customer record. Tip: Relational Database A relational database management system is an application that allows you to organize, manipulate, query, and view your data, while building links between related topics. Tip: Single-column Report A single-column report prints all the data in one column. The quickest way to produce one that allows you to choose your fields is to use Report Wizard, then select Vertical under layout options. Subcategory: Shortcuts Tip: Copying, Moving, Changing, or Deleting Text The shortcuts for copying, moving, changing or deleting text are: CTRL+C = Copy CTRL+X = Cut CTRL+V = Paste BACKSPACE = Delete to the left of the cursor DEL =

3 Delete to the right of the cursor CTRL+Z = Undo typing ESC = Undo changes in current field or current record Tip: Entering Data in Datasheet or Form View The shortcuts for entering data in a datasheet or form view are: CTRL+SEMICOLON = Insert current date CTRL+COLON = Insert current time CTRL+APOSTROPHE = Insert the value from the same field in the previous record CTRL+PLUS SIGN = Add new record CTRL+MINUS SIGN = Delete current record SHIFT+ENTER = Save changes to the current record SPACEBAR = Switch between values in check box or option button CTRL+ENTER = Insert a new line Category: Excel Subcategory: Edit Tip: Automatically Insert Numbers To automatically insert a series of numbers, type in the first number and fill down, click Edit, Fill and Series. Subcategory: Format Tip: Column Length If the columns are too small for the data in them, change the column length by going up to the seam at the top of the Worksheet and double click on the mouse. When the cursor changes into a two headed arrow or when the cursor changes to the two headed arrow, drag with the mouse to make the column wider. Subcategory: Glossary Tip: 3-D Reference A 3-D reference links worksheets together. When the name of the sheet tab appears in a formula followed by an exclamation point, the cell address is a 3-D reference. Tip: Cell Comments Cell comments are hidden text notations that can be added to any cell. To indicate that a cell contains cell comments, Excel places a red square in the upper right corner of the cell.

4 Tip: Criteria Criteria are specifications that you want matched when you are searching for records. Tip: Protection You can lock selected parts of a worksheet to protect those parts from being altered by an outside source by activating the Protection feature under the Tools menu. Tip: Protection Password Protection Passwords give you additional control over who can access locked cells. Tip: Unlocked Unlocked cells are cells that can be changed. Subcategory: Insert Tip: Highlight Cells To highlight cells from the current cell to another cell, press F5, then type in the second cell coordinates and hit Shift and Enter. Subcategory: Tools Tip: Protect Worksheet To protect a worksheet or workbook, click on Tools and Protect option. This will prevent people from making changes to to the Worksheet. Subcategory: Window Tip: Freeze Panes To compare the first column with the last column in the spreadsheet, highlight the first column. Then go to Window and select Freeze Panes. 5 Tip: Active Hyperlink Active hyperlink is a hyperlink that is currently selected in a Web browser. Some Web browsers indicate the active hyperlink by changing its color. Category: Games Subcategory: Zoo Tycoon Tip: Animals that Can't Jump In Zoo Tycoon, the animals that can't jump include: African Warthog, Giant Anteater, Black Rhino, Hippo, California Sealion, Greater Flamingo, African Buffalo, Dromedary Camel, Salt Water Crocodile, American Bison, and Emperor Penguin Tip: High Guest Happiness Rating Make sure your guests can see always animals; from the moment they enter the zoo. The more exhibits and different animals, the happier your guests are. Make sure your animals are happy. Add attractions like the carousel, elephant ride, and animal theater. The Japanese garden is an attraction that gives your guests the highest happiness. Add scenery such as: zoo maps, fountains, statues, topiaries, flowerbeds, etc. Use brick or stone paths instead of dirt. Use plexiglass fence for the exhibits, since it is the most attractive fence for guests. Hire tour guides and assign them to exhibits. Tip: Maintenance Workers You will have problems with Maintenance Workers in Zoo Tycoon because they will try to do the same job at once when there is plenty of work to be done elsewhere. They will pass up full trash cans to repair a fence on the other side of the zoo, and occasionally, do nothing at all. Tip: Needs and Wants The guests will get angry, in Zoo Tycoon, if they can't find what they need or want (food, drinks, bathrooms, and trash cans). Make sure to have a good number of guest necessities distributed throughout the zoo. Tip: Not Enough Food Stands If you have lots of hungry guests, in Zoo Tycoon, add more food stands that are all centrally located. Then disperse more stands throughout the park. Be sure to add a couple of tables and/or trash cans where you place stands.

6 Tip: Trampled Terrain The five terrain types in Zoo Tycoon that can get trampled are: grass, savannah, rainforest, coniferous, and deciduous.
