6 Introduction 1. Introduction The release of FLIR s United VMS V is a follow-up for the VMS V8.0 product, and introduces support for four new edge device product/product families. The release includes major under-the-hood improvements, providing additional robustness and improvements to streaming and rendering infrastructure. Web Client and Control Center users get some handy new features, and Horizon/Meridian users now have support for the TLS capability already enjoyed on Latitude platforms. 7 Edge Device Enhancements 2. Edge Device Enhancements In this version, we have added support for several new FLIR edge devices. 8 Edge Device Enhancements The Quasar Gen II CM-6212-H1-I 12MP IP Hemispheric camera is an indoor/outdoor hemispheric IP camera that supports four streams with H.264 and MJPEG compression. It includes audio-in, audio-out, alarm-in, and alarm-out connections, and a microsd drive. The camera includes a 12 megapixel 1/1.7 Sony Progressive CMOS sensor and features an F2.4, hemispheric lens with a 1.29mm focal length and 360 Field of View (FOV) at full resolution. Latitude recognizes the camera when attached and applies the appropriate default settings, including the panomorph capability. Figure 4 - Quasar CM-6212 Lens Configuration default settings The new Enabled on Stop antialiasing parameter is the default behavior, so that antialiasing is not applied during panning. Latitude supports the camera as a regular panomorph unit, and allows multiple views to be set up in the Control Center, simply by dragging instances of the camera to Viewing Tiles, and then plunging into the picture and navigating to the required portion of the image. See more camera details at Ariel Gen III Cx-330x Series Cameras Highlights Quad HD and 4K Figure 5 - Ariel Gen III Quad 30FPS, swdr 30FPS or 60FPS, swdr Extended Temperature (-20~65C) option for Mini-domes H.264, ONVIF Profile S The Ariel Gen IIII Cx-330x series cameras include indoor/outdoor bullet (CB-330x) and mini-dome (CM-330x) models. They support up to three streams at 4MP (Cx I and Cx I) or 8MP (Cx I) with H.264, or MJPEG video compression, depending on the stream. The camera delivers superior sensitivity in low-light scenes with its Shutter WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) mode, True Day/Night IR Cut filter, and infrared LED illuminator. It also includes audio-in, audio-out, alarm-in, and alarm-out connections, and a microsd drive. See more camera details at New Quasar 4x2K Panoramic Camera Figure 7 - Quasar 4x2K Panoramic Camera in 180 mode The Quasar 4 x 2K is a multi-imager panoramic camera giving exceptional wide-field coverage. Highlights Field Convertible 180 /360 Synchronized Mechanical Tilt Blended Stitching with LDC True Day/Night with Built-in IR Indoor/Outdoor Vandal 30fps, swdr H.264, ONVIF Profile S PoE+, 24VAC Only one Camera License required per unit. The Quasar Panoramic camera gives the user the ability to configure the unit to 180 or 360 modes before installation, by simply altering the arrangement of the lenses. Product Features FLIR has added several important under-the-hood enhancements that recognize day-to-day situations in the system where improvements could be made. 3.1 Improved system robustness EZ Client session management The EZ Client is becoming more popular. As users choose this instead of the full Control Center client application, this means that the system is being accessed from non-dedicated computer workstations. If a user on such a station navigates away from the EZ Client, substantial resources and network bandwidth can be tied up, as the EZ Client still runs in the non-focused Browser tab. New functionality has been added to monitor this situation, and as soon as the EZ Client is not the focused tab, decoding of the streams being displayed in the EZ Client will be paused EZ Client sessions restart automatically after interruptions If there was an interruption in communications between the Transcoder and the target computer, the EZ Client will restart when communication from the Transcoder is resumed Improved stability and recovery from interruptions The mechanisms that detect devices and report accessibility have been upgraded to allow connections to be made more quickly and for the system to recover from interruptions more easily. For the Admin Center user, this speeds up the process of discovering and attaching new devices. Control Center users will also benefit, as connections to existing units are recovered more quickly after interruptions in communications. - The system previously would report audio as inaccessible while the video stream was being established. Audio accessibility is now established at the same time as the system connects to the video, rather than separately. - When new devices are discovered, they are shown as accessible immediately, rather than waiting for a start-up interval. - Once a stream is started (for example when a camera is dragged to a tile in Control Center, the device is shown as accessible immediately). - If the user does not select best available, then the system uses the selected option and does not first check if multicast is available Backward Compatibility The system is now more flexible with regard to upgrades. After Directories and Archivers have been upgraded, the user can continue to connect from Clients that are on earlier versions, until the system-wide upgrades are complete. This makes it easier to maintain operation while upgrades are taking place. However, the user should take care to upgrade all Directories in order to maintain Directory synchronization. Note: When using the new Unicast TCP feature for live viewing (see below), it is imperative that ALL system components are updated to version V or higher before starting to use it. 12 UNITED VMS 8.0 Rel Software Update November 27, 2017

13 Product Features 3.2 Improvements to streaming and rendering Live viewing can use TCP Streaming Live viewing can now use Unicast TCP on cameras that support this mode. This is particularly attractive on noisy or troublesome networks. Unicast TCP allows the system to resend blocks that were lost or interrupted on the network, resulting in better-quality and smoother video viewing of live content. The option is only available for Latitude, and will appear in the dropdown when supported by the camera. This is set up in the Camera/Stream Connection Types screen of the Admin Center. Notes: Figure 10 - Camera/Stream Connection Type/TCP Option 1. Available for Latitude only, for FLIR cameras (Quasar gen ii, Ariel gen ii and up), and for ONVIF. 2. This setting option applies to connection from camera to Archiver affecting live and recording streams. Connection from Archiver to Client is not affected. If Best Available is selected, the camera will not select Unicast TCP. 3. For this setting to be used, it is critical that ALL system components are updated to version V or higher before starting to use it (Directories, Archivers and client applications) 4. To use TCP streaming on existing cameras (following an upgrade) the cameras needs to be rediscovered Improved Playback of hi-res streams utilizing additional CPU cores Where a Control Center is being used to play back a few high-resolution streams the viewing experience is enhanced by allowing each stream to use multiple cores for decoding. 14 Product Features This is set up in CPU Utilization in the Tools\Options\Video\Playback screen. Figure 11 - CPU Utilization parameter By default, this parameter is set to 2. The maximum number of cores that is available will correspond to the number of cores on the computer being utilized (and hence can vary on Control Center applications being run on different computers.). If only one or two streams are to be played back fast forward/reverse, then the number of cores to be used may be increased to the maximum available on the target machine. Note: Playback of final frames of a clip: Under certain specific conditions, when using multiple CPU cores then the final (n-1) frames will not be played back (where n is the number of cores specified in the CPU Utilization parameter). If the user needs to see the final frames: Use the Pause and Play controls to play the frames individually, or Reset the number of cores to be used to 1 in the Tools/Options/Video/Playback menu, and start the playback again Decoding buffers for devices using the ONVIF plugin Decoding buffers provide for smoother decoding of hi-resolution video streams. These buffers were introduced for FLIR devices in VMS 8.0, and the implementation has now been extended to all devices discovered using the ONVIF plugin. This applies to the Control Center only. The setting is disabled by default and must be explicitly set in order to be used, as there may be issues with some legacy units. 14 UNITED VMS 8.0 Rel Software Update November 27, 2017

15 Product Features 3.3 EZ Client improvements Full support for Bookmarks in the EZ Client!! The EZ Client has had a major upgrade, with full support now provided for inserting Bookmarks while in Playback. Figure 12 - Bookmarks in EZ Client The user merely clicks on the Bookmark icon, and then can optionally add a description to the bookmark (which will automatically have the date and time inserted. When bookmarks exist, they are shown in the timeline, and also appear above any thumbnail which, if opened, will contain a bookmark Scroll bars and Close buttons added to EZ Client popups Dropdowns and Dialog Windows have been equipped with scroll-bars and Close buttons for ease of use and consistency. 16 Product Features 3.4 Control Center improvements Switch to Live when you ve finished viewing a clip A handy capability has been added to the Viewing Pane context menu when in Playback mode. Corresponding to the Send to Query option in Live mode, the Playback mode context menu now offers Switch to live. This allows the user to go directly to the live view of the camera that created the clip. The live video replaces the playback video in the same tile. Figure 14 - 'Switch to Live' in Control Center Context Menu Snapshot files are now.png format The default file format for Snapshot clips has now been set to.png. This means that Snapshots will retain their quality but take up much less storage than the older bit-mapped format. This should be of benefit for all users, and is therefore now set by default. Should the user not want to use this format, the setting can be changed by Support. 3.5 Cyber Security - TLS features added to Horizon and Meridian As promised when TLS was added for Latitude in VMS 8.0, this LU now extends the edge connection security features to Horizon and Meridian. A Security Tab has been added to the Main screen sidebar, and this provides access to the Edge Devices Security and Security Policy Settings screens (Shown below) Figure 15 - Edge Security Policy Settings In summary, the TLS features include the following: Supports secured connections (TLS) for messages controlling cameras Reduce risk of back-door attacks by enforcing camera password changes Block unsecured cameras UNITED VMS 8.0 Rel Software Update November 27, 2017

Upgrade Instructions The following upgrade paths are supported: Latitude 8.0 Horizon 8.0 Meridian 8.0 Users on prior versions must upgrade to 8.0 before applying this LU. 7.1 Upgrade Steps To obtain the update executable follow one of the steps below: 1. Check the FLIR website: 2. If the desired update version number is not available on the website, please contact support at This VMS update must be deployed on all machines servers, clients and SDK applications. SDK applications must be closed manually. Note on Backward Compatibility. In order to assist large sites where updates have to be performed on many machines, the system now includes a backward-compatibility capability, which means that once Directories have been upgraded, users can continue normal operation including access from olderversion client applications. Please note that this should be a temporary situation where the expectation is for customers to upgrade ALL components of their system to the latest update version as soon as is practical. 20 Upgrade Instructions Note: When using the new Unicast TCP feature for live viewing (see above), it is imperative that ALL system components are updated to version V or higher before starting to use it. After installation is finished, Windows services will be launched automatically. Note that AdminCenter and ControlCenter won t start automatically. 1. Close the client applications before running the installation package. 2. Start the installation program and proceed as guided by the installation wizard. Note: This stops your VMS Windows services, which resume upon completion of the wizard. 3. Upgrade the server side of the system, starting with the Directory server if not an allin-one system. 4. Once the server upgrade concludes, open ControlCenter over a remote client workstation. 5. Connect to the server. You will be prompted to upgrade to the new version. After accepting, the new version will be downloaded over the network and installed automatically without requiring any further input. 7.2 Upgrade Limitations 1. During upgrading, Directory synchronization is not maintained until all Directories are upgraded 2. Using Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to load the update with Automatic Client Update feature is not supported. 3. If Mentor is installed on the client machine, Automatic Client updates will not work. 4. When running Automatic Client updates while not signed into Windows as an administrator, Update screen and Progress Bar will be hidden from the user. 20 UNITED VMS 8.0 Rel Software Update November 27, 2017
