2 1. INTRODUCTION This document will guide you on how to Download and install TeamSpeak (TS). Configuration. Manage Servers 2. DOWNLOADS IVAO uses TeamSpeak 2 for voice communication. Important: IvAc is only compatible with TeamSpeak version 2! Should you have version 3 installed already, install our version, too. Text communication is always available through IvAc, but voice communication is preferred. TeamSpeak is included in the IvAc download package, and will be installed automatically during the installation of IvAc. If for some reason you have not done the above or need to install separately, TeamSpeak can be downloaded from ZA Website -> ATC Ops -> IVAO ATC Software OR ZA Website -> Pilot Ops -> IVAO Pilot Software TeamSpeak Page 2

3 3. INSTALLATION Run the downloaded executable. The software s installation is straight forward; just follow all the screen prompts. 4. CONFIGURATION Once you have installed and have run TeamSpeak, there are some settings you must change. The PTT (Push-To-Talk) key Always use a key on the keyboard that does not generate characters. Most people use the Left or Right Ctrl, Alt or even the Windows key. You can even setup a button on your joystick if you flying. To use the Windows key, you must first disable it for Windows functions, but leave it available for our use. To do this download a little piece of software from our OR ZA Website -> ATC Ops -> IVAO ATC Software -> Disable Windows Key ZA Website -> Pilot Ops -> IVAO Pilot Software -> Disable Windows Key Extract the zip file. There are 3 files and their filenames tells you which Windows key or keys each disables. Run the file that will suit your needs. TeamSpeak Page 3

4 Next click on Settings -> Sound Input/Output Settings. Select Push-To-Talk. Click Set. Now press the button on the keyboard that you want as your transmit key. Figure 4.1 The method to transmit on TeamSpeak must always be set to Push-To-Talk and not Voice Activation. Note: Do not use the Voice Activation method as this opens your microphone whenever noise is picked up so background noise and even you breathing, may set it off. You could then be transmitting over the channel without realising it. In figure 4.1 the Right Ctrl has been selected as the PTT key. Now, every time you want to transmit on the frequency, press the PTT key, speak and then let go of the PTT key once your transmission is completed. TeamSpeak Page 4

5 5. MANAGE SERVERS When TeamSpeak is used in conjunction with IvAc or IvAp, both of these applications will connect your TeamSpeak to the appropriate IVAO TeamSpeak server. But sometimes you want to have the flexibility to manually connect to different IVAO TeamSpeak servers. Here is how. Click on Connection -> Connect Figure 5.1 TeamSpeak Page 5

6 In the big white area on the left with Servers at the top, right-click in it and a menu will appear to Add Server, Clone Server or Delete Server. If it is your 1 st server, click Add Server and fill in CC as the new servers label and hit Enter. Start filling in the server details on the right: Label : CC Server Address : cc.ts.ivao.aero Nickname : This field is how other TeamSpeak users sees you. Use the same callsign as you using in IvAc if you are observing. Perhaps your pilot callsign, but do not use a valid ATC Position callsign. Allow server to assign : Always leave this un-ticked. Select Registered Login Name : Your IVAO VID User Password : Your IVAN password Leave the rest of the fields untouched. Click Connect This CC server hosts all the division s members and staff channels. You can find ours right at the bottom, namely ZA_MEMBERS and ZA_STAFF. You are welcome any time in the ZA_MEMBERS channel, to casually chat to other ZA members. After you have added the 1 st server, just clone the server and change Label and Server Address fields for the next server. You can find the current online TeamSpeak servers here. TeamSpeak Page 6
