IVAC 2 TUTORIAL 1. Introduction IVAC 2 is the second version of IVAC 1, used in Air Traffic Control In IVAO. The following document is a tutorial about IvAc 2 Developed by Terminal 2 Solutions. 2. Installation For Installations Insrtuction, you can see this video made by Terminal 2 Solution on Youtube for WINODWS OS : 3. Launching For Launching Insrtuction, you can see this video made by Terminal 2 Solution on Youtube for WINODWS OS : The launcher IVAC 2 Launcher photo : IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 1

Name : Your real name (Displayed to other IVAO users) VID : Your IVAO VID (To identify you to the network : ex : ) Password : Hidden from view (To authenticate you to the network) The above are remembered for the next time you run IVAC2. You then choose which FIR and control position you wish to use: FIR : Which flight information region (FIR) do you wish to control/observe. IVAC2 data is grouped together by FIR, so you must choose an FIR first. Search : Anything you type will narrow the choices visible in the list of FIRs. You may search by ICAO code, country code or the name. Load : Clicking the button will transfer the FIR data for the selected FIR from the server to your computer. The name of the FIR will be highlighted in yellow for all FIRs that have already been loaded. Double-clicking on the FIR row in the table does the same as clicking the load button. Delete: Data for the selected FIR will be removed from your computer (the name will change from yellow back to white). Only when you have selected and loaded an FIR from the left side of the window can you make a selection from the right side: Observer : If you only wish to observe the radar rather than control, click the circle and choose your observer callsign (should end with OBS unless you are connecting with a staff callsign). List : Selecting from the list will configure IVAC2 read to control that position. The ICAO code, position name, and type are displayed in the box. Position : Whatever position is selected on the right-hand box will have more details displayed here, including the radio callsign, communication frequency, and network login name. Sectors : Some controlling positions may be made up of several sectors. Currently there is no further selection possible here; future versions may enable one or more of the sectors to be selected from controlling. Text Only : If you will not be using a voice client (eg. TeamSpeak) to communicate with other network users, then click the circle to indicate that you are only using text to communicate. Hide Supervisor : If you are an IVAO network supervisor, but do not wish your supervisor status to be displayed during this session (eg. you are going to be controlling busy traffic and will not have time to answer WALLOP requests) then click on the the circle. When everything is selected, you are ready to control and move on to the main screen: Launch : start IVAC 2 Exit : Don't control now. Settings will be remembered for next time. 3 4. The Menu Bar The top row of buttons is un-changing, and either provides key features or changes the lower row to become sub-menu choices: 4.1. Sign-in Connects to the network. Once connected, the button changes to SIGN-OUT Maps Opens up a separate window which lists the map options available in your FIR. The MAPS window may be left open, or closed after making a selection from it Presets Opens up a separate window which lists pre-determined settings available in your FIR. Unlike the MAPS window, which only switches a single map attribute on or off, making a selection in the PRESETS menu can make multiple changes to the display, including opening INSET windows for specific use Inset Opens a new window, containing a view of the map and radar targets which can be positioned independantly of others. If you are providing a top-down service of different types of airspace, or even different airports, each INSET can provide a view of a different location and at different magnification. PRESETS may be provided to open inset windows for specific purposes Tools Toggles the lower menu line in to the tools submenu: IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 3

FULL - Use the full screen to display the IVAC2 main window, without any window borders, title-bar, icons etc. Press again to return to windowed mode. Full screen mode is designed for use with multiple-monitor setups where all other windows, insets etc will be on a different monitor. Please note that in full screen mode the main window will be in-front of any other windows. Ensure your other windows are moved to a different monitor or they will be hidden behind the main window. LAT/LON - Toggles the latitude/longtitude information window which displays the coordinates of the last click on the main SDD window. Please note that this is intended for providing an approximate location of an aircraft, such as might be used for search-and-rescue (SAR) purposes, and does not display results accurate to sufficient decimal places to be used for drawing maps. OPSLOAD - Toggles the OPSLOAD information window which provides a graphical representation of what the IVAC2 threads are doing in the background. TRACKALL - Toggles the display of history tracks for all targets currently visible in the main SDD window. Please note that history tracks only start from when IVAC2 was signed-in, or from when targets enter radarrange; they do NOT provide a complete history of that target's radar track VELO Toggles the lower menu line in to the velocity submenu: ALL - Enables velocity lines for all radar targets (clicking again disables ALL). If all is not selected, only assumed targets will have velocity lines. 30sec, 1 min, 15 min - Sets the velocity lines so that they show where each target will be after the specified time. Note that velocity lines take the current target speed in to account; targets which are accelerating or decelerating will have their lines gradually adjust in length HALO Toggles the lower menu line in to the halo submenu: ALL - Applies a halo circle around all visible targets. TRACK - If clicked with a single target selected, a halo circle is added to just that target. NONE - Clears the individual targets added using the TRACK button, and also turns off the ALL button. 2.5, 5, 20 - Sets the size of the halo circles to be of the specified radius. Note that the size of ALL halo circles change, regardless of whether they were set individually using the TRACK button or by pressing ALL. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 4

4.8. DCL The data-link clearance dialogue box is used to calculated, assign, and optionally communicate, IFR flight-plan clearances. Callsign - will be automatically completed based on the selected target. Cleared to - will be automatically completed as the destination airport from the flight-plan of the selected target. Runway - the drop-down list allows selection of the departure runway. If that departure runway has been specified in the ATIS for the departure airport, then this will be used by default. SID - once the runway has been specified, the SID will be calculated based on the flight-plan using data in the FIR DEF. In the event that more than one SID matches the departure airport/runway, it is not specified which will be returned; there is currently no way to make an alternative choice in the current version of IVAC2. Please note that FIR DEFs may include SIDs which are dependant on multiple conditions, such as aircraft type, time-of-day, and available equipment. Transition - not used in the current version of IVAC2. Squawk - the controller may manually enter the 4-digit transponder squawk code to be assigned to this target. Next Freq - the frequency which the pilot of the target aircraft should contact after receiving their clearance; use the drop-down list of available controllers to make the selection. Select yourself if you wish the pilot to remain on your frequency. Departure - will be automatically completed as the departure airport from the flight-plan of the selected target. ATC RMK - this can be optionally completed with any additional text which you require to be included with the clearance. CLD - this text is gradually built-up as data is input into the dialog; it represents the actual transmission which will be made to the target when clicking the SEND DCL button. The buttons along the bottom of the dialogue are as follows: VOICE - used if the clearance has been read to the pilot over the voice channel. IVAC2 will assign the various label tags such as SID, CFL but not transmit the clearance using CPDLC. SEND DCL - this will send the text in the CLD box, using CPDLC, to the specified target; the various label tags such as SID, CFL will also be updated according to the clearance. FPL - Open the Flight-Plan dialogue box. CANCEL - closes the dialogue without making any transmission or updating the label tags. See the T2 short tutorial video on DCL using IVAC TEXT IN IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 5

This information window is typically left open in order to see communications from other controllers or pilots using text communication. Unread messages are shown in a highlighted colour; when clicked-on (to indicate they have been read ) they will revert to the dimmed colour (they can be clicked again to revert to un-read if required). Double-clicking on a message in the window will open a dialogue to reply to it: if the original message in was a private message, the reply will be private. if the original message in was a com frequency message, the reply will also be on the COM frequency but addressed with the callsign that sent to you The window also logs your outgoing messages, both private, COM frequency, and CPDLC. All messages, both in and out, have a time-stamp showing when they were received or sent. Outgoing messages are originated either by highlighting another controller or observer in the respective ATC/OBS lists or by using the Target Pop Up menu in the case of pilots. Please note that it is not possible to send a message to somebody outside your communication range ATC This information window lists all the ATCs currently online and within communication distance. Each ATC lists the following attributes: SI - The Sector Identifier assigned to the atc position in the FIR DEF. Short - A shorter name which uniquely identifies the atc position within the FIR. It is typically just 4 characters so that it doesn't take up too much space in menu's, labels, etc. Name - The name of the real person controlling the position. Rating - The rating of the controller assigned to them by the network, based on their progress through the examination system. Callsign - The phrase which should be used when addressing that controlling on the radio. Freq - The radio frequency which the controller is tuned to. The Columns icon on the title-bar can be used to turn individual columns on or off by selecting them. The order of columns may be adjusted to suit the particular requirements by dragging the column headings. By default, only ATC positions are displayed which have been defined in the FIR DEF for the active FIR, either as internal positions within the FIR, or external positions which would be neighbouring sectors that would be likely used for transferring traffic. The Rows icon on the title-bar can be used to select ALL rows, in which case the window lists all ATC positions within communication range regardless of whether they are defined in the FIR DEF. The Short and Callsign information will be missing for ATCs not defined in the active FIR DEF FLTLST IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 6

SL - Sector List displays all targets which are currently assumed by the specified controller (or controllers). SIL - Sector Inbound List displays all targets which currently have their Next assignment set to be the specified controller (or controllers). DEP - Departure List displays all targets which have flightplans indicating departure from a specific airport (or airports). IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 7

ARR - Arrival List displays all targets which have flightplans indicating arrival to a specific airport (or airports). HOLD - Hold List displays all targets assume by the active controller that have had their Hold indicator set. Clicking any of the above buttons will open a new flight-list information window, or the dialogue to input the criteria for that list; multiple such windows can be open at the same time with different criteria. The Columns icon on the title-bar can be used to turn individual columns on or off by selecting them. The order of columns may be adjusted to suit the particular requirements by dragging the column headings. The Rows icon on the title-bar can be used to ADD another criteria, in which case the window lists all flights which match the original criteria or the additional one. Note that the size of ALL halo circles change, regardless of whether they were set individually using the TRACK button or by pressing ALL DISPLAY Toggles the lower menu line in to the display submenu: NEXT FREQ - When this item is selected (highlighted) the next entry in target labels will show the COM frequency of the assigned next controller; when this item is not selected, the label will instead show the short name of the controller. PSR - Turns the simulated Primary Surveillance Radar on or off. When the PSR is enabled, radar returns will be simulated for all targets regardless of whether the aircraft transponder is turned on or off; without PSR, only targets with an activated transponder will be displayed. Note that targets without an activated transponder will not have a label displayed for them when derived from PSR, as their callsign, altitude or other data cannot be determined SAFENETS Toggles the lower menu line in to the safety-nets submenu: STCA - Short Term Conflict Advisory can be turned on or off. Targets will turn red if they are less than 1000ft vertically separated and less than 5 miles laterally. STCA is disabled for targets below 3000ft BRT The brightness dialogue box is used to adjust the relative brightness of different elements of the IVAC2 display: MAPS - All map data SDD - All radar-derived data IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 8

GEO - Geographic data such as coastlines, rivers etc. SECTOR BOUNDARY - Boundaries between sectors GROUND - Ground layouts such as taxiways, buildings etc. AIRSPACE - Airspace boundaries such as CTR/CTA. NAVIGATION - Navigation data such as VORs, NDBs, FIXes etc. BACKGROUND - Background colourings. EXTENDED CENTRELINE - Runway centrelines such as ILS/DME markings. TRACKS - All targets which are neither assumed nor on the ground. GROUND TRACKS - All targets which are currently on the ground. TRACKS ASSUMED - All targets which are currently assumed VOICE The VOICE dialogue is used to display the status of the integrated voice connection. Push To Talk (PTT) key is either Left or Right CTRL. The TeamSpeak server connected will be displayed in the window title-bar. The background will be green if connected to the TeamSpeak server (black if disconnected). Double-click on the window background will disconnect or re-connect. Large text indicates the COM frequency. TX button lights when transmitting with PTT. RX button lights green when voice communication received. RX button may be double-clicked to give a list of connected pilots and their individual RX lights. Using voice is included in the T2S short tutorial video on connecting to the network using IVAC ATIS The ATIS dialogue is used to set the aerodrome traffic information service for airports in the FIR: AIRPORT - Select one of the airports in the FIR for which you wish to provide an ATIS. Note that IVAC2 can provide ATIS for multiple airports at the same time; you may complete the details for one airport, save it, and then continue to complete the details for another airport. However, due to a limitation of the FSD server, only the *LAST* ATIS you complete will be passed to pilots requesting your ATIS. ATIS - The information letter, which automatically increments each time you update (save) the ATIS. You can change it to the required letter by selecting from the drop-down menu. TYPE - Each airport with an ATIS specified, can either be just for arriving (ARR), departing (DEP) or both (ARR/DEP). If you no-longer wish to provide an ATIS for an airport which you have previously specified, set it to NONE. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 9

TA - The transition altitude for the specified airport should be auto-selected from the FIR DEF data, but may be manually specified here. TRL - The transition level for the specified airport should be auto-calculated from the FIR DEF data, but may be manually specified here. APPROACH - The type of approach should be specified if you are providing an ARR or ARR/DEP ATIS. You should then select the runway, condition, visual range (RVR) and up to two additional notes for each approach in use. DEPARTURE - The runway, condition, and visual range (RVR) and up to two additional notes may be specified for each departure runway in use. OPS TEXT - Any additional notes which need to be included at the end of the ATIS may be manually included here. PREVIEW - This is the text which will be transmitted to pilots requesting the ATIS for the airport; it gradually updates as changes are made to the dialogue entries above. It will automatically include the current METAR for the specified airport. SAVE - Updates the ATIS so that changes are visible to pilots. Note that for the moment ( 16/06/2017 ), due to a fault with the way WebEye handles ATIS parsing, IVAC2 ATIS will not show on Webeye. It is however available in IVAP using.atis See the T2S short tutorial video on using ATIS in IVAC METAR ICAO - When entering the ICAO code for an airport, then clicking ADD, the metar for that airport will be added to the list. Each required airport will have the ICAO code, the current wind information, QNH, and the time of the last METAR update. The Columns icon on the title-bar can be used to turn on or off the full METAR text FPL The flight-plan dialogue box is used to view the flight-plan which was filed by the pilot of the target aircraft, or which is used for flight-planning purposes by ATC: CALLSIGN - The identifier for the target aircraft. FTYPE - The Flight Type: S=Scheduled, N=Non-scheduled, G=General-Aviation, M=Military, X=Other FRULE The flight rules that the target is operating under: I=Instrument, V=Visual, Y=IFR-then-VFR, Z=VFRthen-IFR NR - NumbeR of aircraft. This will be 1 other than in the case of formation flights. ACTYP - The ICAO code for the aircraft type. WTC - The Wake Turbulence Category of the aircraft type, L=Light, M=Medium, H=Heavy. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 10

EQUIPMENT - A series of letter codes, each representing items of equipment on the aircraft, eg. S=Standard, G=Global-Navigation-System etc. SRR - The type of transponder on the target aircraft, N=None, C=Mode-C, S=Mode-S etc. ADEP - Departure Airport ICAO code. ADES - Destination Airport ICAO code. TAS - The cruising True Air Speed; a letter prefix indicating: N=kNots, M=Mach, K=Kilometers/hour. RFL - Requested Flight Level, a letter prefix indicates: F=Flight-Level, A=Altitude (hundreds of feet), S=Metric-Level, M=Metric-Altitude (tens-of-metres). EOBT - Estimated Off-Blocks Time, the time at which the flight is planned to begin moving away from the parking position. EET - Estimated Elapsed Time, the calculated/planned duration of the flight. ALTN1 - The first choice of Alternate Airport. ALTN2 - The second choice of Alternate Airport. ROUTE - The flight-plan route. This will include the way-points, navigational aids, airways and other route elements that are planned; it may also include additional details such as planned changes of level or flightrules. ITEM 18 - This can be a lengthy set of additional fields included in the flightplan containing additional information. Examples include REG/ (aircraft registration, DOF (date of flight), SEL/ (selcal code), OPR/ (operating company), RMK/ (other remarks). The next group of fields relate to data assigned to the target by ATC: NEXT - The next controller which the target should contact after transfer by the current controller. CFL - The Cleared Flight Level to which the target should be climbing, descending, or maintaining. ASP - The Assigned SPeed which the target should be maintaining. The final group of fields relate to the target's network connection: VID - The network identifier of the pilot flying the target aircraft. NAME - The real name of the human pilot flying the target aircraft. VOICE - Indication of whether the pilot has voice-communication available or is text-only. SI - Sector Indicator of the controlling that has currently assumed the target. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 11

4.19. EXPLT DIsplays the extrapolated route of the selected target. Can be removed by clicking the EXPLT button again or along with all other temporary markings by using the CLEAN button. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 12

4.20. SEP After clicking the button, double-click on a radar target, then on a 2nd radar target, two lines will be drawn on the map, showing the relative position of the two targets at the time they will have minimum separation. If the lines are behind the direction of travel, then the minimum separation was in the past if the lines are in the same direction as the travel, then the minim separation is in the future. A number will also be displayed which represents the number of miles between the two targets at the moment of minimum separation. Note that the two lines will be constantly updated as the targets move QDM Displays the magnetic compass direction from the first mouse click to wherever the pointer is moved; when the mouse is next clicked, a line will be drawn between the two points. The numbers at the end of the line indicate the magnetic bearing from the initial point to the end point, and the number after the / indicates the distance between them in miles. If a radar target is double-clicked at one or both ends of the QDM line, it will be locked to that line and move with the target, constantly updating the bearing and distance LABEL The label dialogue allows controllers to show or hide different elements ( fields ) of the target labels. Some fields are only relevant for targets that belong to a particular category (shown on the left hand side of the dialogue); this means that labels can look different depending on the status of the target aircraft. Each label element can be in one of three different states: Dark - The element is hidden. Grey - The element is hidden for all labels except the highlighted one. Bright - The element is visible. Please be aware that each label element can have different position, colour, and mouse-click behaviour defined for it as part of the Theme configured for each ATC position within the FIR DEF. Please consult the documentation provided by your FIR data-preparation team regarding how the labels are configured for your particular ATC position. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 13

4.23. OBS This information window lists all the Observers (users connected to the network with ATC client software, but not actively controlling) who are currently online and within communication distance. Each OBS lists the following attributes: Callsign - The identified used when connecting to the network. Name - The name of the real person logged-on to the network. Rating - The rating of the controller assigned to them by the network, based on their progress through the examination system. Freq - The radio frequency which the controller is tuned to. The Columns icon on the title-bar can be used to turn individual columns on or off by selecting them. The order of columns may be adjusted to suit the particular requirements by dragging the column headings ATC INFO Toggles the ATC information window, a mini web-browser that could be configured to display useful information for controlling in your FIR. Refer to FIR documentation for how to use this feature GND Toggles the visibility of labels for unassumed targets on the ground; if you are a radar controller you probably want ground labels turned off FILTER The filter dialogue box is used to restrict which targets are displayed on the radar, based on the altitude/level they are flying at. Targets may be filtered based on four different criteria: TOP - Any targets with a current level higher than specified will not be displayed on the radar. IVAC 2 Version June 2017 Page 14

HIGH - Targets with a current level higher than specified, but below the TOP level, will be displayed but using a different style of Filtered label. This enables a limited set of information to be displayed for targets that are just above the vertical limits of interest to the controller. LOW - Targets with a current level lower than specified, but above the BOTTOM level, will be displayed but using a different style of Filtered label. This enables a limited set of information to be displayed for targets that are just below the vertical limits of interest to the controller. BOTTOM - Any targets with a current level lower than specified will not be displayed on the radar. ENABLE UP - If this is highlighted then the TOP/HIGH settings will be enabled; if it is not highlighted then the TOP/HIGH settings will be ignored and there will be no upwards filter. ENABLE DOWN - If this is highlighted then the LOW/BOTTOM settings will be enabled; if it is not highlighted then the LOW/BOTTOM settings will be ignored and there will be no downwards filter. Please note, all references to vertical levels in the section above have been referred to simply as level, but refer to altitudes below the transition QLOOK Temporarily removes any filters CLEAN The clean function removes any and all temporarily added aid lines which have been drawn, including QDM, SEP, and EXPLT.
