1 Hardware and Software Requirements, Network Requirements and Endorsement Printing Upgrade Process Thank you for choosing Bank of America Merrill Lynch s Remote Deposit Service Online. Remote Deposit Service Online requires a scanner driver to be loaded onto a user s workstation. If the workstation does not meet the minimum system requirements, it may impact the overall performance of the service. To better facilitate being able to use the service when you are ready to implement, please take a minute to read the requirements below and confirm your workstations and your network infrastructure will be compatible. Remote Deposit Service Online is an internet based client-server application. A small client side service runs on a workstation located within a Local or Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN). However, the Server side applications run on a Bank of America Merrill Lynch server that is accessed via the internet. It is imperative that you review and acknowledge the below technical requirements are met for the performance and quality of your network connection through the LAN/WAN, through the internet, and to the Bank of America Merrill Lynch server is sufficient to enable the Remote Deposit Service Online application to perform to its potential. Careful consideration of network capacity, speed and quality of service is required prior to installing Remote Deposit Service Online in the client environment. Insufficient network upload and download speeds and/or poor quality of service can lead to the following symptoms: Degradation in scanner performance and frequent jams Slow application response time Application freezes and timeouts IMPORTANT: Local system admin rights are required prior to installing scanner driver onto workstation. Scanner models may have different system requirements. Be sure to reference the information for the scanner that you are using. Macintosh environments are not currently supported. Thin Client workstation environments are not currently supported. Users must be able to run a local service with a USB 2.0 port from the workstation used for scanning. We do not recommend using multiple remote capture products or scanners on the same PC. All scanner models must be equipped with an ink jet and printing capabilities.

Digital CheXpress CX30- Single feed scanner with maximum throughput rate of 30 items per minute Digital Check TS Medium volume scanner; maximum throughput rate of 65 items per minute with 25 item capacity hopper Digital Check TS4120- High volume scanner maximum throughput rate of 120 items per minute with 100 item capacity hopper Scanner/Printer Connectivity USB port is required. A USB port is a mandatory requirement for scanner operation. Local port 80 will need to be open/available to allow communication with the scanner. This port is normally open, unless you are running a web server on the same device Scanner must be at least 18 inches from the power source and connected PC All scanners must be enabled with printing ability Additional Scanners Supported by Remote Deposit Service Online The following scanners are not currently offered for purchase, rent or lease by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, but are supported for use with the Remote Deposit Service Online product. 5 Additional Network Requirements and suggestions for troubleshooting (Please note that these are suggestions for making the product work better for you, not a guarantee for seamless service.) 1. Remote Deposit Service Online Bandwidth minimum requirements assume a single Remote Deposit Service Online capture workstation. Multiple Remote Deposit Service Online capture workstations performing simultaneous deposits over the same network connection can cause the minimum bandwidth requirements to be much higher. It is recommended that a snapshot of your existing network peak utilization be taken and then overlaid with the Remote Deposit Service Online bandwidth requirements to confirm capacity is sufficient for anticipated peak deposit processing. 2. Suggested tool to measure raw bandwidth: 3. Network Interface Card (NIC) settings need to be consistent between the workstation and switch/router settings and should not be set to Auto-Negotiation or Auto-Sensing. Auto-Negotiation/Auto-Sensing are not optimal settings to confirm devices communicate without difficulties (i.e., the connection speeds should be set to match the switch port settings 100- full, 100-half, 10-full, etc.) 4. Prior to running RDSO, a Quality of Service test should be run over your network. If the results from that test are not favorable, it is highly recommended that your internal IT department take appropriate actions to resolve the network service issues. 5. Suggested tool for Quality of Service tests Confirm proxy servers are up and fully functional without errors. 7. Do not cache the remotedeposit.bankofamerica.com or direct.bankofamerica.com URLs in-bound or out-bound. A proxy server may automatically cache this information. 8. The remotedeposit.bankofamerica.com, direct.bankofamerica.com and localhost URLs need to be in your browser s trusted sites list. 9. Port 80 (http) and Port 443 (https) for workstation and LAN/WAN firewalls need to be open. Please check with you internal IT department for your approved network tools to assist in determining the health/quality of your network environment and contact your Bank of America Merrill Lynch representative if you have any questions about the listed requirements. 6 Addendum for Panini Users that require Remote Deposit Service Online Endorsement Printing Upgrade The Remote Deposit Online Service requires that all scanners have the endorsement printing function enabled. If you have questions on your scanner configuration, the endorsement printing verification and upgrade process below facilitates modification of the Panini scanner to include the endorsement printing function if it is not already installed. For a successful on-boarding process, Bank of America Merrill Lynch requests you document the serial number of all Panini scanners that will be used with the Remote Deposit Service Online product. 7 Worksheet Summary Panini Customer Support will research the serial numbers and document which scanners have endorsement print and which do not have endorsement printing enabled (Upgrade Y/N) Panini Customer Support will a list of the serial numbers that need to have endorsement printing enabled to you by end of following business day Approve the recommendation and return the worksheet by to BankofAmerica@Panini.com On receipt of approval, Panini will create the upgrade files by end of following business day and the upgrade files, upgrade instructions and the upgrade.exe (zipped) file to the provided contact name(s).
