2 2 September D 1.0 General 1.1 The 3M SLiC Fiber Splicing Workstation with Cleaver Arm is for use with the Terminal Closure 530 and Closures 533, 547 and Workstation kits come standard with M8 x 1.25 mm thread for fusion splicers. Choose appropriate fusion splicer to match knob thread size per choices below. Each cleaver arm is labeled with knob thread size and pitch. Workstation assembly b. Straps c. Pedestal mounting hardware: ¼ - 20 x ¾ short neck carriage bolt (2), ¼ - 20 Keps nut (2) d. Cleaver arms Note: Visually inspect all components. If any component is missing or appears damaged, do not install and call 3M customer service at for a replacement product. 3.0 Strap Installation 3.1 Install small carabiner latch in holes closest to operator. Note that finger loop should be on top of strap to facilitate positioning of tray. 25" (635 mm) A 12" (305 mm) 4.0 Cleaver Arm Installation 4.1 Rotate cleaver arm to upright position and lock post in place with screw while maintaining pressure downward on post. 4 4 September D 4.2 Install cleaver on arm and tighten knob securely M SLiC Fiber Splicing Workstation Installation 7.1 Position centering tab into recess on terminal body. 5.0 Install Fusion Splicer 5.1 Install fusion splicing machine and tighten knob securely. 7.2 For the Closure SLFT-547, install latch into 3rd or outer most hole with latch facing inward as shown. Closure SLFC Transport Procedure 6.1 Crisscross straps by placing large carabiner into front holes of workstation to form X to lift unit to working area.

5 D September For use with the Closure SLFC-533 remove screws from both latches and re-install them in the middle holes on each side with the latches facing outward as shown. Closure SLFC Install large carabiner over strand on both sides of workstation and adjust straps to level workstation. Warning To avoid the risk of the tray falling, and/or impacting persons below, the weight on tray must not exceed 35 pounds. 7.4 For use with the Terminal Closure SLFT-530, Closure SLFC-533 or Closure SLFC-733, remove screws from both latches and re-install them in the inner holes on each side with the latches facing inward as shown. Terminal Closure SLFT-530, 3M SLiC Fiber Aerial Closure SLFC-533 & Pedestal Mounting 8.1 The workstation may be mounted on a variety of surfaces or tube assemblies using the optional T -bar accessory ( ). See 9.0 Mounting Accessories. 8.2 Remove the Keps nuts from the pre-installed carriage bolts. Secure the T -bar to the workstation using the Keps nuts. Allen screws included in T -bar kit are not used.
