1 Communication Markets Division 3M Cross-Connect Cabinets for Midspan Applications 3M Cross-Connect Cabinets for midspan applications are low-count cabinets available in configurations that can accommodate 100 pair to 1200 pair. These cabinets are modular in design and can be used in pad, stake, handhole or pole/ post mount applications. In addition to midspan applications, the empty cabinet shells can be used to replace damaged cabinets. They are designed to be used with the 3M Quick Connect System (QCS) The wiring harness includes either 3M 710 OR 3M MS 2 Splicing Modules for easy splicing and maintenance. The 3M 4220SV Cabinet series are designed to enable a midspan cabinet application and are intended to work in conjunction with one to four 48-port hardened DSLAMs. These cabinets are open base and empty and are designed to mount optional and accessory components, such as a power junction box (JBOX), which can address local engineering requirements. 2 The 3M Cross-Connect Cabinets 4220SV series can be used in conjunction with 3M Fiber Cable Termination Kits, that can be mounted inside. The kits can accept two to four 12-fiber buffer tubes from a single 24- or 48-fiber loose tube cable. To express buffer tubes, open a single 12-fiber tube, splice and patch up to 8 fibers. A pre-terminated cable harness with SC/APC connectors from the DSLAM will terminate at the base of the kit when installed. The fiber cable shield bond and cable strain relief is completed outside and below the included kit bracket. The 3M 4220SVB or 4220SVC cabinets can be used as a pad-, stake- or pole/post-mount applications. The 4220SVE cabinet is pad mounted only unless a specific stake mount stabilizer bracket is used. When one to four DSLAMs are mounted on the rear or side, the cabinets must be stake or pad mounted with required stabilizer products such as stakes, stabilizer brackets and skirts.
