2 GETTING STARTED Driver ID Solution Driver ID reader ID key ID Reader Adapter (IDRA)* * Not needed when a Port Expansion Module (PEM) unit is also being used with the Networkfleet device. 1. Driver ID Reader 2. ID Key a. The Driver ID number is on the key and label that ships with the installation kit. D7 01 b. If the tag is removed and the Driver ID number needs to be identified, it can be found on the First 2 digits The next 12 digits Final 2 digits face of the ID Key. For example: Driver ID number: D ID Reader Adapter (IDRA) * Port Expansion Module (PEM) IO-1 Port where ID Reader is plugged in SP-1 Serial Port 1 (Up to 2 accessories can be plugged in. Similar to unit s serial port options.) SP-2 Serial Port 2 (Only one accessory can be plugged in) ID Reader Adapter is NOT needed when a PEM is use 4. ID Buzzer

3 Driver Information To Sign In Using Driver ID 1. Start the vehicle. 2. ID Reader initialization process begins and will blink once when it is ready. With buzzer: ID reader will sound once 3. Place ID Key on ID Reader for at least 3 seconds. 4. ID Reader light turns solid and will dim slowly. Sign in complete. Note: ID Reader will blink rapidly to remind user to sign in. With buzzer: Buzzer will sound intermittently Sign in only when vehicle is parked or not moving.

4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS If the 5000 unit is installed, disconnect the unit from vehicle power (otherwise the Driver ID Key will not function). CONNECTING THE ID READER For 5000 Series using the IDRA 1. Access the 5000 s serial port. If the 5000 unit s knock-out panel is intact, use an X-acto knife to slice off 2 of the 3 tabs and remove the panel. 2. Plug the IDRA cable into the 5000 s serial port. 3. Plug the ID Reader cable into the free end of the IDRA cable. Make sure the finished product is the IDRA cable connects between the 5000 unit and the ID Reader cable. For 5000 Series using the Buzzer with IDRA 1. Plug the ID Reader into the Buzzer. 2. Plug the Buzzer into the IDRA. 3. Plug the IDRA into the Device. For 5000s using the PEM 1. Plug the ID Reader cable into the PEM s IO-1 port. 2. Make sure the finished product is the PEM connected between the 5000 unit and the ID Reader cable. For 5000 Series using the Buzzer with PEM 1. Plug the Buzzer into the PEM`s IO-1 port.

5 Mounting the ID Reader Mount the ID Reader so that it is easy for the driver to tap their ID Key to the Reader disc. It is recommended to mount it on the hush panel below the steering column, which will be removed anyway for 5000 installation or accessing the existing installed 5000 unit. If there is a buzzer, mount the buzzer near the ID Reader. Recommended Placement Options 1st Choice: Mount to the right side of the steering column 2nd Choice: Mount to the left side of the steering column 3rd Choice: Mount in an optimal empty space on the hush panel Mounting Instruction 1. Drill a 1/2 inch hole on the dash or panel. Make sure there is 1 inch of clearance behind the dash or panel. 2. Feed the ID Reader harness through the hole. Be sure to remove the mounting nut. 3. Use the ID Reader mounting nut to secure the ID Reader to the dash or panel. Wherever you choose to mount, it is recommended that you stay consistent in the placement for each vehicle whenever possible. After all harnesses or adapters are plugged in: 1. Connect the 5000 Series to vehicle power and verify the proper device LED sequences. 2. Start the vehicle s engine. The ID Reader will begin to flash with the following patterns: Engine On/ Idle (speed 15 MPH or lower): Rapid blinking LED Engine On/ Speed 16 MPH or higher: LED blinks once every minute Note: If the ID Reader is connected while the 5000 Series unit is powered up, the ID Reader LED blinks once every 30 seconds with the vehicle engine running. This is an indicator that the ID Key will not work. To correct, disconnect the 5000 Series from vehicle power, reconnect and reset the device. This will enable the device to detect ID Reader and enable ID Key function. Repeat steps above to verify ID Reader functionality by checking the LED blinking sequences.
