3D Implicit Modelling Leapfrog Works is founded upon the Leapfrog implicit modelling engine with FastRBF. It supports modelling contact surfaces and volumes using stratigraphic sequences, structural surfaces, depositions, intrusions, erosions, veins, vein systems and faults. It also supports numeric modelling. Models are dynamically linked to input data, so that as new data or interpretations become available updating the model is automatic. Supported Inputs Leapfrog Works supports the input of borehole data, geotechnical data, engineering designs, well screens, meshes, surfaces, points, polylines, GIS data, 2D grids, structural data, maps, images and historical cross sections. The Leapfrog Works Hydrogeology Solution Kit also supports input of flow models. Click here for a full list of supported formats. Supported Outputs Leapfrog Works supports the output of 3D surfaces and volumes in CAD and BIM formats, planned boreholes, borehole tables, longitudinal sections and cross sections, points, polylines, GIS lines, 3D scene files for viewing in Leapfrog Viewer, structural data, and publishing to Leapfrog Central. The Leapfrog Works Hydrogeology Solution Kit also supports output of flow model grids. Click here for a full list of supported formats. Release Information These release notes cover the new features introduced in version 2.2 of Leapfrog Works and provide a recap of the new features that were introduced in version 2.1. For more information on any of the features please refer to the Leapfrog Works 2.2 Help. Seequent Limited

NEW FEATURES IN LEAPFROG WORKS 2.2 User defined attributes on models Add your own user defined attributes to any of your models to capture the key details of the domains you are modelling and communicate them to others. Spell out the components of ground type classifications or weathering profiles that combine multiple geotechnical characteristics in a single domain - so it is easy for those viewing the model to understand at a glance the properties of the geological, geotechnical or hydrogeological unit they are viewing. User defined attributes are included in Leapfrog model exports to Industry Foundation Class (IFC), so you can communicate the subsurface properties when delivering Leapfrog models on projects using Building Information Model (BIM) workflows. Export Leapfrog boreholes direct to BIM Publish your boreholes direct from your Leapfrog Works project to IFC format for inclusion of critical ground investigation data points in your BIM projects. IFC is the open industry standard for 3D models in BIM workflows and projects and gives you the ability to transparently share your borehole data directly with other disciplines and collaborators on your project. Seequent Limited

Export Leapfrog models direct to Bentley s design (DGN) format Export your Leapfrog models directly into Bentley project workflows via Bentley s DGN format for use in Microstation and for wider application across the extended Bentley project solution suite. Extract volume surfaces Because Leapfrog models are constructed dynamically it can be necessary to extract the upper or lower surface from the Leapfrog subsurface volume model to take it into a design, layout or geotechnical software package. New surface extraction tools let you easily extract the younger or older surfaces of a given volume, or any of the unique contact surfaces that make up a volume with a single action, avoiding the hassle and clutter of extensive mesh clipping operations to extract your target surface. Seequent Limited

Split scene views Visualise 3D data from 1, 2 or even 3 viewpoints, to provide context and clarity, especially useful when exploring in close up and controlling object visibility, scene slicing, zoom level and image rendering. Add a second monitor, double your desktop and easily compare views for increased productivity, and even richer engagement. Colourmap Improvements New colour gradient options have been added replacing the existing colour maps. The new maps are intended to better display heatmaps, elevation, azimuth and geophysics data as well as diverging data and grayscales. Existing colour maps can still be used if preferred. Additionally, it is now easier to create discrete colourmaps using various statistical methods for use with numerical interpolants. Seequent Limited

Downhole graphs in 3D scene CPT, Geophysics or other downhole numeric data can now be displayed in the 3D scene to quickly visualise your downhole data right there in 3D as a trace line or bar graph. Use it along with movie making or saved scenes to communicate understanding of the different downhole parameters that are influencing your model and driving your decisions. Line symbology management on cross section layouts Line styles and point symbology on lines are commonly used to convey the status of geological interpretations on 2D sections. Using the new line symbology tool in section layout you can clearly document and convey the confidence level of modelled contacts, or where the water table is on your dynamically linked cross sections. Because cross sections are dynamically linked to your 3D model, refining your layouts in Leapfrog will save you time and effort maintaining cross sections over the project lifecycle. Seequent Limited

Central roles and permissions improvements New roles and flexible project-based permissions are introduced to reflect the varied levels of access different parties need to have when collaborating on Central managed models. For example, Richard and Susan may both have open access to an in-house light rail project, but only Susan can access a roading project which is managed under a joint venture she is part of. On the roading project she can be restricted to view and annotate only due to her more limited role in that project. Role Has permissions to So that they can Administrator full access of their Central server administer the server, users, and via the web administration portal projects User access the central server be added to projects by an administrator or project owner Project Permission Level View and Annotate Browser Export Publish and Download Owner User has permissions on that project to view, review, compare and comment on objects using Central Browser. export published objects direct from Central Browser download any version directly in Leapfrog Works and update it as required grant access to the project and control project permission levels So that they can participate in review and audit processes to sign off models, or simply stay in the loop of model development pull the right version with confidence for direct use in other applications contribute to the development of the model can maintain correct access to project team Seequent Limited

Central project sharing It is now even easier to share projects as the project owner by selecting the project in the history tree and sharing it directly from within Leapfrog Works. Central publishing and storage improvements When publishing a project to Central, it is now possible to publish fence sections, serial sections, polyline colours and 2D grids, for direct viewing and export in Central Browser by project stakeholders. It is now possible to specify the folder for temporary Central data storage, avoiding issues with limited C drive space when working with centrally managed models. Seequent Limited

FEATURES PREVIOUSLY RELEASED IN LEAPFROG WORKS 2.1 IFC for BIM workflows Industry Foundation Class (IFC) is the open industry standard for 3D models in Building Information Model (BIM) workflows and projects. The BIM philosophy is that all parties have access to a combined 3D model that incorporates all aspects of the project, so that potential clashes, or the impact of a change in one design on other elements can be identified and mitigated more efficiently. You can now export geological models, numeric models and combined models directly to IFC format for integration of the ground model in BIM common data environments. This allows everyone on the project to visualise the interaction of the planned building project with the ground model. Integrated demonstration project To help those just getting started with geological modelling, Leapfrog Works now includes a preinstalled demonstration model, complete with helpful comments to guide you around the model and link you to help and online training resources. My Leapfrog integration It is now even easier to access all your web-based services from within Leapfrog Works when you log in with your My Leapfrog credentials. You are automatically signed in and a connection established when you publish a 3D scene to a web browser via View. You can also access your My Leapfrog profile and keep it up to date online, see your product entitlements and active product licenses, anytime while you are running Works. To control your usage and avoid any necessary user day charges, the software will now suspend after it has been idle for the set period. The default setting is for 60 mins, but this is easily adjusted to suit your own needs. To track and manage software usage in your organisation, reference code management has been improved so that you can set policy to be reminded to enter a code, and if desired, even forced to enter the code, so that you can be sure you are compiling with your company policy on project tracking. Simply build a list of project codes and select from the dropdown. No more typing and re-typing codes when you switch between jobs. All your usage can be viewed in the license monitor in My Leapfrog. License administrators can view the usage trends across the whole organisation. DWG interoperability The Autodesk drawing (DWG) format is a common Computer-aided Design (CAD) format native to Autodesk but also supported in many other CAD and technical software products. As well as supporting the importation of engineering designs and surfaces in DWG format you can also now export models, meshes, lines, points and cross section evaluations in DWG format. Seequent Limited

Export your geological model and numeric models or surfaces for inclusion in Autodesk BIM workflows with Navisworks, Revit or BIM 360 or export 2D section evaluations for further layout in AutoCAD or Civil3D. Object history properties Tracing the origin of the data used in your model is now easy with the addition of a history tab in an object s properties. See who created or last processed a mesh or model and when. For imported data file paths are recorded so that later you have confidence in the origin of the data and can demonstrate its provenance during an audit. Note that objects created in early versions of Leapfrog Works do not have history records. Central publishing improvements You can now publish a host of additional data types in your Centrally managed models for a single source of truth, that is more collaborative than ever. Now publish GIS data, Textures, Images, Cross sections, Lines and export directly from the Central browser for use in other applications. Design handling improvements A number of improvements have been made to the way designs are handled so you can manage complex designs in your Leapfrog Models. You can now Reload a design Move all or part of a design Manage and display colour legends for designs Multiselect designs on import Mesh clean up improvements Design surfaces and imported meshes may have overlapping triangles (known as self-intersections) that prevent the mesh from being usable in further mesh operations, such as those used in workflows for determining cut and fill volumes for excavation. An option has been added to remove self-intersections such as these shown on the left-hand side below, to create closed meshes such as that on the right. Borehole Hatching on cross sections When laying out cross sections it is now possible to display hatching on boreholes. Selecting from industry standard hatch patterns makes it easy to deliver cross sections to the standard your clients expect. Arrange labels on cross sections Where multiple boreholes are evaluated in a confined space, cross section layouts can become hard to read or even overlap. Now it is easy to arrange the collar labels into a custom composition by simply dragging the collar labels to the desired location. Seequent Limited

Evaluate lines on cross sections It is now possible to evaluate lines on to cross sections such as GIS lines representing as roads, rivers or utilities, and design lines such as pipelines, property boundaries or alignments. Assign symbology to the pierce point where the line intersects the cross section, to provide context when presenting geological cross sections. Variable borehole radius scaling When visualising downhole numerical data you can now scale the width of the borehole cylinder by another column of data values from your borehole database. This provides at a glance visualisation of related factors like cone resistance and friction ratio, or storativity and porosity, in the 3D scene. Planned borehole groups Planned boreholes are now managed in groups for greater efficiency and consistency when preparing for future ground investigations. Evaluate the expected ground types that will be encountered in the group and view the evaluation in the 3D scene. Import planned boreholes or export them for contractors as either a parameter set or standard interval tables. Structural data analysis For analysis of structural data trends in non-directional (axial) structures such as those found in highly folded geology, Bingham statistics have been added as an option on stereonets. For directional (polar) data Fisher statistics are still available. Statistics improvements A Table of Statistics option has been added to Statistics. Together with other improvements this provides more options and controls when working with statistics and graphs. Multiple categories can be populated and grouped Statistics columns can be selected Both interval length-weighted and un-weighted statistics can be displayed Query filters can be applied Histograms can be accessed directly from the numeric data column Data shown in plots is linked to data in the 3D scene so that you can select in the plot and visualise the selected dataset in the scene, and vice versa. UPGRADE NOTES Project Upgrades Leapfrog Works 2.2 supports direct project upgrades from earlier Leapfrog Works versions. Leapfrog Works can convert and upgrade Leapfrog Geo projects from version 2.0 or later, Leapfrog Geothermal 2.6 or later, and Leapfrog Hydro from version 2.2 or later. This will convert the projects to Leapfrog Works 2.2 projects. Seequent Limited

It is recommended to make a backup when prompted during the process as Leapfrog Works Projects cannot be converted back into Leapfrog Geo or Geothermal projects. Additionally, it is a good idea to back up your project before upgrading it as some items in your project may need to reprocess as a result of bug fixes and general maintenance. Some of these will affect downstream objects, causing them to reprocess. NETWORK ADMINISTRATION Installation path The default installation path for Leapfrog products is C:\Program Files\Seequent Demonstration project installation The Leapfrog Works installation package includes a Works project containing a complete 3D model with integrated links to training material. This project helps new users learn how to build their own models quickly. During Leapfrog Works installation, the project is unzipped into a new Works 2.2 Demo Project folder located in default document store belonging to the user who is installing software. If a Network Administrator installs Leapfrog Works on behalf of another user, it may be necessary to find the project in the document store of the administrator and move it into the user s default document store instead. Note that both the "Demo project Start Here 2.2.aproj_data" folder and the associated " Demo project Start Here 2.2.aproj" file must be copied (or moved) together in order for the project to be opened in Leapfrog Works. Once the project has been correctly positioned, please check the user has "full control" rights for the.aproj project and the.aproj_data folder Seequent Limited
