1 Metasys System Purchase Options Bulletin No. LIT Issued December, 2014 Overview Johnson Controls offers a variety of Metasys software packages scaled to meet the requirements of your Metasys sites. In addition to new software options for new Metasys installations, we also offer upgrade, migration, and site subscription software packages to continually improve and expand your existing Metasys sites. These various software offerings allow you keep your Metasys site up-to-date, with the latest new features, capabilities, and performance enhancements that increase the value of your investment. The current software release version varies by Metasys product. See Table 3 and Table 4 in Ordering Information for the current version of each product. Johnson Controls Metasys software offerings include the following: New : New Metasys software is available for new sites that do not have a previous version of the Metasys software installed. Upgrade : Metasys upgrade software provides the latest software revision for Application s/ and Data Servers (ADSs/ADs), Open Data Server (ODS), Network Engines (NxE8s), and LONWORKS Control Servers (LCS8s) on sites with previous versions of the Metasys software. Migration : Metasys migration software enables you to migrate from a previous major release to a more current release and increase or decrease the number of users on your existing Metasys site. Subscription Services: A Metasys site subscription service provides automatic and economical Metasys upgrades for either one full year or three full years after purchase. Copy : Copy software is a duplicate copy of software available for customers who want a DVD reproduction of the current Metasys software package to remain at the Metasys site. Refer to the QuickLIT website for the most up-to-date version of this document. Depending on the package, Metasys software options include Metasys server, network engine, user interface applications, system and controller configuration tools, database utilities, and reporting tools. Some Metasys software packages include Microsoft SQL Server database software. See Table 2 for specific product information. Metasys Definitions Here are some definitions of terms to help you determine the most efficient and economical way to build, maintain, and enhance your Metasys sites. Major Release: Major Metasys software releases include significant new products, features, and enhancements. Major releases are indicated by a new major release number followed by a dot zero (x.0). For example, Release.0 and Release 6.0 are major releases. Upgrading Release 4.x,.x, or 6.x software to Release 7.0 is a major upgrade. Minor Release: Minor Metasys software releases provide minor product and feature enhancements. Minor releases are indicated by a new minor release number following the associated major release number. For example, Release.2 and Release 6. are minor releases. Upgrading Release 6.0 software to Release 6. is a minor upgrade. Required: Various third-party software applications and components necessary to install and operate a Metasys system. Required software may be included with your Metasys software purchase; some required software must be purchased separately. Examples of required software include supported Microsoft operating systems (OSs), Microsoft SQL Server database software, and third-party antivirus software. : All of the software applications and components included with your Metasys software purchase. software may be required or may be optional software applications, components, or tools that provide additional functions and features. See Table 2 in Ordering Information for more information on the software included in the Metasys offerings. Metasys System Purchase Options Bulletin 1

2 Purchased Separately: Required or optional software that is not included with your Metasys software purchase and must be purchased from Johnson Controls or a third-party vendor. For example, Microsoft OSs and antivirus software must be purchased separately. Depending on the Metasys software package, SQL Server software may need to be purchased separately. License: A Metasys software package and end-user license agreement is required for each Metasys ADS/AD, ODS, NxE8, LCS8, and Network Integration Engine (NIE89) on a Metasys system site. Each computer or server package on a site must be licensed after a new installation and re-licensed after any major upgrade to the current release. Also, every ADS/AD that is migrated must be re-licensed after the migration. See Licensing Information for more details. Metasys for Validated Environments: Metasys for Validated Environments (MVE), extended is for facilities that require regulatory compliance for their environmental systems. MVE brings the flexibility and convenience of a web interface to your regulated facility. MVE is specifically designed to help customers address United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) Title 21, of Federal Regulation (CFR) Part 11 compliance. MVE software can only be installed on an existing Metasys AD, and the AD must be at the current major release level. MVE software does not include an AD; you must order AD software separately from MVE software. When ordering MVE software, you must purchase it for major and minor releases. Note: The Metasys ODS does not support MVE software. See Table 4 in Ordering Information and refer to Metasys for Validated Environments, Extended Architecture Catalog Page (LIT ) for more MVE product information. Metasys Package Details See Table 2 through Table in Ordering Information for software package descriptions, included and required software, number of users, number of objects, and product code numbers for ordering new, upgrade, migration, and site subscription Metasys software packages. New, upgrade, migration, and site subscription software packages do not include the required Microsoft OSs. Some Metasys software packages do not include the required SQL Server database software. Antivirus software is not included. Required or optional third-party applications must be purchased separately. The required Metasys hardware (computers, servers, engines, and controllers) is not included with Metasys software packages. Upgrading or migrating your Metasys system may require upgrading third-party software such as the Microsoft OS and the SQL Server database software. All third-party upgrades must be purchased separately (except for the Metasys software packages that include SQL Server). Only Johnson Controls technicians or Johnson Controls authorized representatives may install Metasys software. Metasys software prices may not include the labor to install the software. New Metasys New software is current-release Metasys software packages for original (new project) installation at sites that do not have a previous release of Metasys software installed. New Metasys software packages are identified by a -0 suffix on the product code number. Note: ADS, AD, and ODS software packages are sold per computer or server, not per site. You must license new Metasys software after installation. For information on licensing, see Licensing Information. Metasys Upgrade Upgrade software is current-release Metasys software for upgrading products, such as ADSs/ADs, ODS, NxE8s, and LCS8s, at sites that have a previous major release of the Metasys software already installed (for example, upgrading Release 6.x or earlier software to.) Metasys upgrade software packages are identified by a -6 suffix on the product code number. Metasys upgrade software packages may also include upgrades to the current supported Microsoft SQL Server software (for example, upgrading an existing AD10 to an AD10SQL). For major upgrades (for example, upgrading Release 6.x or earlier to ), you must purchase a current Metasys upgrade software package. For minor upgrades (for example, upgrading Release 6.0 to Release 6.), your Johnson Controls representative can upgrade the site. Metasys System Purchase Options Bulletin 2

3 Note: Typically, there is no cost for ADS/AD software for minor upgrades. However, not all minor release software packages are at no cost. For MVE software, you must order and pay for minor upgrades. For more information, contact your local Johnson Controls representative. For a nominal cost, you can also purchase a copy of the upgrade software for your Metasys site. See Metasys Copy for details. To determine if you must re-license your upgrade software, see Licensing Information. Metasys Migration Migration software is current Metasys software packages for upgrading an existing ADS or AD to the current release version and migrating the ADS or AD to a different number of users. For examples, see Table 1. Metasys migration software packages are identified by a -8 suffix on the product code number. Metasys System Purchase Options Bulletin All software migrations require re-licensing after the migration. The software license reflects the number of users and the object count for which the software is licensed. Be prepared to provide the original serial number from the Metasys software product disk or have the project information ready. Having this information helps to expedite authorization and issuing of your new Key. For more information on licensing, see Licensing Information. Subscription Services subscription services ensure that the subscriber automatically receives every major and minor Metasys release upgrade for either 1 year or 3 years after purchasing the site subscription. The upgrade software on media or disks is automatically sent to the customer when the next release is available. A newly placed 1-year subscription service order is active for 1 year from the day that the subscriber is billed for the service. For a newly placed 3-year subscription service order, the order is active for 3 years from the day that the subscriber is billed. However, for either level of service, the subscriber does not receive any software until the next Metasys release (major or minor) is available for shipping. When the next release is shipped, subscription service orders are automatically processed and shipped to the address provided by the subscriber. Metasys site subscription software packages are identified by a -SCS (1 year) or -SC3 (3 year) suffix on the product code number. When ordering a site subscription service, simply identify the Metasys software package or packages on the site for which you want to purchase a subscription service. When you purchase a site subscription, your Metasys site must be at the current major release level. For example, if you have Release 6.x ADS/AD software, you must upgrade to before you purchase a site subscription, because is the current release available for an ADS/AD. subscription services are not automatically renewed. You must renew your site subscription at the end of the site subscription agreement. There is a no-refund policy on Metasys site subscription services. Configuration Tool Use You are allowed to install and use the Metasys Configuration Tools on as many computers as necessary at the job site. These tools include the System Configuration Tool (SCT), Controller Configuration Tool (CCT), and M-Tools. 3

4 Metasys Copy You can purchase (for a nominal cost) a DVD reproduction of the Metasys software package installed on your Metasys site. Copy software is available only for the current Metasys release; you cannot order copy software for any previous Metasys releases. Metasys copy software packages are identified by an MS-COPYprefix on the product code numbers. Licensing Information You must license the ODS, NxE8, LCS8, and NIE89 software immediately after installation or upgrading. If the license is not active at product startup, the software, Ethernet, and trunk communications to the Metasys system automatically shut down. If you try to log in to the Management Portal after the software has shut down, a message appears indicating that the product is not licensed. We recommend that you install or upgrade Metasys software only if you are able to license your product immediately. You must also license the following Metasys software: ADS/AD, Metasys Export Utility, Ready Access Portal, Energy Essentials, Advanced Graphics Application, and Metasys for Validated Environment (MVE). You must license Metasys software after a new installation. You must re-license Metasys software after a major upgrade (for example, Release 6.x or earlier to 7.x) or migration. You can continue using the same license if you are upgrading to a minor release (for example, Release 6.1 to Release 6.). You are allowed to transfer a license between computers by using License Activator for these products only: ADS/AD, AD with MVE, Export Utility, Ready Access Portal, and the Advanced Graphics Application. You are not allowed to transfer a license between computers by using License Activator for these products: ODS, NxE8, LCS8, and NIE89. For these products, remove the license key and then uninstall the software on the original computer. Install the software on the new computer, and then obtain a new license key for the new computer. 5 Ordering Information The following tables provide product codes for ordering new software, upgrades, migrations, and site subscriptions. Table 2 provides Metasys software package details, including number of users, required SQL Server database software, and the included or enabled software for the base software packages. (See Table 3 for the new, upgrade, migration, and site subscription service packages available at the current release.) The base product codes described in Table 2 are not orderable software packages. See Table 3, Table 4, and Table for the complete product code numbers for the Metasys software packages that are available at.
