1 Technical Bulletin Issue Date August 17, 2010 S300-DIN-RDR2SA Address Mode Configuration The S300-DIN-RDR2SA (also referred to as ) can be addressed in two ways: legacy mode and physical address mode. The address mode is determined by the position of the address mode switches (SW1). Legacy Address Mode Used with: CK720/705 CK721 CK721-A ver. 2.x CK721-A ver Performance decreases when several functions (reader terminal, input terminal, output terminal) are assigned to one physical hardware module. The responds to up to six addresses: Reader 1, Input Terminal 1, Output Terminal 1 Reader 2, Input Terminal 2, Output Terminal 2 Does not allow input/output point disassociation. There is one debounce time for all the inputs on the terminal. Only the single request to exit mode is 1. CK722 only. Physical Address Mode Used with: CK721-A ver CK722 Note: Physical address mode is recommended for new installations with CK721-A ver Performance does not decrease when several functions (reader terminal, input terminal, output terminal) are assigned to one physical hardware module. See page 3 for performance details. All reader terminals, input terminals, and output terminals on the are controlled and monitored using one physical address. Allows input/output point disassociation. Each input point has an independent debounce time. For example, the request to exit and the door contact may be given different debounce times. 1 All three request to exit modes (single, double, and none) are Johnson Controls, Inc. Code No. LIT
2 2 S300-DIN-RDR2SA Technical Bulletin: Address Mode Switches Legacy Address Mode The address mode switches (SW1) are located under the module cover. When switch positions 1 through 4 are off, the is in physical address mode. When any of switch positions 1 through 4 is on, the is in legacy address mode. Switch positions 5 through 8 are unused. When the is in legacy address mode, individual terminals are enabled as follows: Switch ON Description 1 RDR1 Enabled 2 RDR2 Enabled 3 I/O 1 Enabled 4 I/O 2 Enabled Based on switch configuration, the terminal maps its input points as follows: RDR Enabled I/O Enabled Description Off Off RDR map disabled, I/O map disabled Off On RDR map disabled, I/O map enabled On Off RDR map enabled, I/O map disabled On On RDR map enabled, I/O map enabled 1 1. The RDR map takes precedence over the I/O map. For information on the RDR map, refer to the S300-DIN-RDR2SA Hardware Installation Manual. For information on the I/O map see the table on page 3. The following table provides information on the I/O mapping.
3 S300-DIN-RDR2SA Technical Bulletin: Address Mode Switches 3 Performance Using Legacy vs Physical Address Mode The data presented in this section was derived by connecting a specified number of modules on the RS-485 bus. The test measured the response time between reading two badges by two readers on the same module and unlocking two doors. CK721-A with I/O enabled on each legacy terminal pair (Test 1): Number of Modules CK721-A with only reader enabled legacy terminals (Test 2): Number of Modules CK721-A with modules in physical addressing mode (Test 3): Number of Modules CK722 with modules in physical addressing mode (Test 4): Number of Modules
