5 Web publishing: Project MOD (Modernisation of Online Dissemination) In order to avoid ressource-consuming future migrations of CMS and Websites FSO started the project MOD. Objectives All assets stored in one place (Digital Asset Management Database DAM) together with rich metadata Web Services deploy assets in a CMS or in third party applications (open data) using the metadata FSO Website in new design 5

10 Storytelling in times of tablets 1. Storytelling in the time of tablets and mobile people performs in a new field. 2. The idea and the message is old let s call it the book paradigm. But it s a book in new clothes. 3. New aspects must be taken in account: new possibilities, skills, tools and processes. 10

14 Tool Choice at FSO:.folio DigiPubs At FSO we selected.folio, an open format, part of Adobe s Digital Publishing Suite DPS as our publishing instrument. 14

15 .folio How did this format come about? Condé Nast is looking for channels for electronic publications. In-house costs unsustainable. Having Adobe as a partner creates a standard: the Digital Publishing Suite DPS with.folio Known examples: The New Yorker, Wired, The Economist: Intelligent Life, The.folio file format has become the de facto standard for highly interactive digital publications. Because of the fast growth of the digital publishing industry, and the increase in marketplaces that want to leverage.folio, Adobe believes that the industry is better served through the licensing of the.folio specification. 26 The be-all and end-all: Rethink! Electronic publication offers everything needed to make a story appealing. Challenge: Rethink publication! Authors and also publication specialists (publishers, visualisers, layout designers) are challenged in terms of concept with regard to the content that is to be communicated and in terms of the presentation due to the possibilities that the medium is opening up. New ways of working, processes and also changing job descriptions are the result and necessary. 26
