1 Google Apps Demonstrate how to get to Google Page and how to view the "Google Apps" that will be covered in this lesson. Remeber this is just a brief introduction to each of the Apps. They will be covered in the next activities. Note: You have to be on Google webpage in order to get to any of the Google Apps. In the Web browser: Step 1 - In the Navigation bar in the web browser, type in Google.com Step 2 - In the top right-hand corner of the browser (in this case Chrome), click on the waffle-like image next to sign-in button. A window displaying some of the Google Apps will open to display some of the most popular Apps. Click on the "waffle image".

2 Click on "More" and a screen will appear that looks like this. You notice that more Apps appear. In the icons note that you see Google Forms, Google Maps, and Google Slides. All three of these we will be using for this lesson. Presentation slides: Use the slides to present the overview of the 3 Apps. Slide 1 - is a cover page for the presentation Slide 2 - is an overview of Google Apps

3 Notes: Google Apps are tools used for communicating. These Apps provide an easy way of geting hard work done in an easy and convenient format all housed within the same Drive. Slide 3 - is an overview of Google Forms. After going over the slide with the class, demonstrate how to open Google Forms. Click on a new tab in the browser window to demonstrate where to find Google Forms. From the Google webpage shown above click on the "waffle image" Click on "More" Click on "Forms" and the following window will open Say: "Google Forms are used to plan events, make a survey or poll, give students a quiz, or collect other information in an easy, streamlined way with Google Forms". In the next lesson we will use Google Forms to create a survey to ask relatives where they currently live. Slide 4 - is an overview of Google Maps. After going over the slide with the class, demonstrate how to open Google Maps. Click on a new tab in the browser window to demonstrate where to find Google Maps. From the Google webpage shown above click on the "waffle" Click on "Maps" and the following window will open.

4 Let the students know that this is just an introduction to these Apps and they will get a chance to practice using them in the next activity. Many students will have seen a map like this before if they ever use Google for location help. Let them know that the upper left-hand corner is where you specify an address or business of interest. Say: "Google Maps is a desktop web mapping service developed by Google. It offers satellite imagery, street maps, 360 panoramic views of streets (Street View), real-time traffic conditions (Google Traffic), and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bicycle (in beta), or public transportation. In the next lesson we will use Google Maps to create a map of where our relatives live. Slide 5 - is an overview of Google Slides. After going over the slide with the class, demonstrate how to open Google Slides or Slideshow. Click on a new tab in the browser window to demonstrate where to find Google Slides. From the Google webpage shown above click on the "colored-waffle" in the upper left hand corner. A window will open that looks like this.

5 Click on "Google Slides" and the following window will open. Click on the "+" sign to open a blank presentation and the following blank slide show will open. Remind Students that this is an introduction to these Apps and they will get a chance to practice using them in the next lesson. This is one of the tools that will be used in developing our final project which will be the slideshow for our historical/digital artifact.. That s it, you re finished
