1 SEMINAR ON DRIVERS BY RAGHAVENDRA GANIGA Summary Department of INFT organized a seminar on drivers on the 25 th of August The speaker for the seminar was Mr. Raghavendra Ganiga, who works as an embedded systems engineer for a firm based in Pune. Emphasis The reason behind conducting this seminar was to provide students with an opportunity to understand how operating systems work and what role drivers play, which would go on to help them develop new drivers autonomously. Attendees and Proceedings The seminar started at 1:30 p.m at the circular hall ground floor. The seminar spanned for a total of three hours. The seminar was attended by 88 students and 6 faculty members. Feedback forms were circulated amongst the students after the seminar to collect valuable information which would assist the committee a scope to improve in the upcoming events. Contact details of the speaker were provided to students who required further information.the speaker was felicitated at the end of the seminar by Mrs. Neelima Pathak, H.O.D (I.T) About the Speaker The speaker Mr. Raghavendra Ganiga has a sound knowledge about embedded systems. He graduated from S.S.P.M s College of Engineering, Kankavli in

2 electronics and telecommunication and went on to receive post graduation in embedded systems engineering. He is an contributing writer for the tech magazine Open Source and he has developed a number of drivers working on the linux main line. The topics undertaken in the seminar were as follows 1. Operating Systems -- Process Management -- Memory Management -- Scheduling -- File systems 2. Linux Kernel Modules. 3. Device File system. 4. Linux Char Interface. 5. System Hardware Overview. 6. Types of Device Driver 7. Startup intro to Char driver Reception The seminar received good reviews from the students and the faculties alike which reflected upon the hard work put forth by the committee in hosting the event in a short span of time.

3 WORKSHOP On PHOTOSHOP BY PURAV BHARDWAJ Summary - Department of INFT has conducted a workshop for Photoshop on the 18th of September The C.S.I Atharva vice chairperson Purav Bhardwaj was the speaker for this event. Emphasis - The goal of this workshop was to teach the participants, the tips and tricks required for editing photographs and image manipulation. The workshop was also intended for introducing the participants to industrial designing and many other related facets. Attendees and Proceedings - The workshop was attended by 46 students. For convenience and ease of teaching the attendees were divided into two batches. The first session kicked off at 11 a.m and the second session began by 2 p.m. Each session lasted for two hours. All the participants were provided with certificates acknowledging their presence in the event and they were also asked to fill feedback forms for review and assessment purposes.

4 Reception - The feedback forms gave the committee an insight into the student s minds regarding their reviews for the event. The overall reception of the participants was excellent, while some of them felt that the event could ve been much better and left some important suggestions.

5 3 Days Workshop on Web Development Workshop Department of INFT with collaboration of CSI organized The Web Development Workshop between 17th, 18th and 22nd FEB The workshop revolved around teaching the participants to use basic HTML and CSS to create static web pages and the use of PHP and SQL to implement dynamism to the pages. The speakers for the day were- Shrikar Chonkar Siddharth Suman The event was held over 2 days, the venue being lab no 6 and 7. The workshop was attended by 45 participants. The workshop spanned over a period of 3 hours beginning from 11am and ending at 2pm The events of the workshop were as follows Shrikar Chonkar carried out the proceedings in lab no 7 teaching the participants to develop web pages using HTML and CSS. The summarized content of the topics covered under this workshop are as follows HTML - basic html syntaxes

6 html tags - body tags headings and paragraphs html links html images using marquee & blockquote changing background color changing a paragraphs color creating radio buttons dividing a web page into sections CSS basic css syntaxes color properties background and border properties setting background size and color setting border position style and color text properties font properties divisions columns and rows Siddharth Suman undertook the task of teaching PHP and SQL in lab 6. The reason behind calling it a task was because of some

7 misunderstanding in the registration procedure which led to the involvement of a few first year students, who had no prior knowledge about programming which is required to understand PHP. The conductor had to allot around half an hour to familiarize the first year participants with the requiremts for understanding the subject. After this the following topics were covered under each subject PHP basic php definition and syntaxes working of web servers and their types using echo to print strings printing html documents using loops using for each creating forms working of login pages SQL basic sql definition and usage databases accessing and manipulating inserting and retrieving data updating and deleting records creating new databases

8 creating new tables use of sql in websites The registration and publicity work underwent smoothly which was visible as the number of people turning up at the event accounted for more than our capacity. The participants provided the committee with positive feedbacks. All the participants of the workshop were provided with certificates. Everything turned out as planned and the committee s hardwork had been rewarded with an excellent turnout and also paved the way for further improvements.
