1 . You must login to the CUNA Councils website first to authenticate your CFO Council membership Use the gray Sign In button in the right column on the home page.. Once logged in as a CFO Council member, under the Resources drop down, choose Thomson Reuters Checkpoint. From that page, press the Click here to Login button. (NOTE if you visit that page without first logging in, the authentication will fail when you try to access Checkpoint and you will receive an error. If that happens, login to the Councils website, refresh the page, and try again)

2 Home Tab (My Checkpoint) Flash appears whenever there are new updates. (Select a News Flash item in Today s Headlines pane). New appears or the NEW warning banner is displayed whenever any updated content or scheduled search results are available in your subscription. Today s Headlines displays recent news from the RIA Daily Updates. You can view more headlines from the News tab. Assistance Self Service, Support & Product Training provides a set of links to product training, user guides, support contact information and interactive guided tours. New in my Subscription displays new Checkpoint features and content that has recently been added to your subscription. Click Read More to view more information.

3 Searching and Navigation 5 5 The top menu bar options include Home, Search, Table of Contents, News, Tools and Learning. Use these options as necessary to match with your search criteria. Select a Practice Area to use sources and search tools specific to an area of research. To perform a keyword search, enter search terms in the Enter Keywords field, select sources from the source list and then click SEARCH. Select a Keyword Search method: A Terms & Connectors search lets you provide one or more keyword terms, and in Intuitive Search identifies sentences, connectors, or citations and interprets your query accordingly. Use the Find by Citation option to find a document using citation. Select one of the links under Find by Citation, complete the search template and click Search. Access an A-Z listing of topics using Indexes.

4 Citation Searching Use Checkpoint s pre-designed citation search templates under Find by Citation to retrieve a specific federal code section, state statute, case decision, or revenue ruling. Each practice area has different citation templates that you can access under Find by Citation. In the citation keyword field, enter the citation you want to find. (Use the example as guidance for formatting your citation). Click Search to retrieve your search results.

5 Productivity Tools Checkpoint offers more that 00 Calculators, which provide quick solutions when you have to perform a calculation to determine if a particular set of facts pertains to a client. History - Checkpoint automatically logs the session information and the research event, such as running a search or retrieving a document. The History screen stores research sessions for up to days. Notes option provides a list of all document notes and all folder notes. Navigate to the Tools tab to access the Productivity Tools. Flagged - The Checkpoint Flagged Document feature allows you to quickly save a document for future review and reference. Click Flagged to view a list of recently flagged documents. The Financial Reporting Interactive Checklists tool provides a process to help you work through complex compliance procedures 5

6 Document Screen Document Options: Document options include Print, Export, , Save, Open in New Window, Selected Text Option, Show Permalinks, Full Screen, Document Display Options, Flag this document, Add Note and Highlight Text. The Context Panel on the right, when applicable, provides access to related documents, navigation to sections within the document, or additional search options. The options include Contents Tab, Search Tools, Links Tab, Featured Developments and Recommended Documents. The Contents tab is a combination of the contents and outline of the document. The contents links indicate the location of the document within the Table of Contents. Each entry in the contents list is a link to the levels and sublevels within which the document resides. The icon represents the Search Results option. This tab enables you to access other documents that are listed in the Search Results view. The Links option is enabled when reviewing documents with top line or side line links. Use this link to display a list of associated documents for each top line and side line link type. 6

7 News and Developments The News tab provides a comprehensive news service that gives you instant access to the most up-to-date taxation news and developments. You can access in-depth articles on tax-related issues, as well as links to informative taxation newsletters, journals and compliance aids. 7
