1 Logging in to Checkpoint. Launch your browser and enter the Checkpoint address in the browser location bar: The Checkpoint Login screen appears. Note: Bookmark this page or add it to your Favorites so you will not have to retype the URL every time you want to access Checkpoint.. Enter your User Name and Password, and then click Login. The Checkpoint screen that appears depends on the Login and Search Practice Area settings in the General Settings Options. Note: You can use your user name and password to open only one Checkpoint session at a time. Select the Remember Me check box to save your login information. You will not be prompted to enter your User Name and Password on future Checkpoint sessions. Ending a Session Remotely: Checkpoint does not permit multiple logins with the same User ID. If you are logged into Checkpoint on another machine or browser and attempt to login, Checkpoint will provide an option for you to close the original session and continue the login process. 2 Home Screen Checkpoint s Home screen provides quick links to Checkpoint titles, search tools, training and support and current news. Choose from several Current Views such as Corporate Finance or Accounting & Auditing to organize content by practice area. My Quick Links can be customized to include links to resources on Checkpoint that you use most frequently. Click Edit to customize My Quick Links. Click Add Links to add links to Titles, Search Tools or Tools. Click Organize Links to Delete, Rearrange or Rename links. Link to Accounting & Financial Statements titles in the Table of Contents such as the GAAP Reporter. Link to Standards and Regulations in the Table of Contents such as the FASB Codification. Link to Tools such as FASB Cross Reference or Standards Tracker Create-A-Chart.

3 Table of Contents Screen The Table of Contents screen is organized by practice area, title and topic, providing an easy drill down approach to your research. 4 Document Screen GAAP Reporter Explanation Use Document icons to Print, Export, , Save, Open in New Window, Selected Text Option, Show Permalinks, Full Screen, Document Display Options, Flag this document, Highlight text and Add Note. The selected document is highlighted in purple in the Context Panel on the right. The Contents tab allows you to locate the document in the Table of Contents as well as offers easy navigation to other content. GAAP Reporter Explanations provide a concise restatement for each section of FASB. Checkpoint logo matter and Tips. provides expert guidance in the form of Observations, Illustrations, Cautions Navigate by: feature allows you to navigate to the next or previous document in the Contents or to the next Explanation in the GAAP Reporter. The list of options in the dropdown menu will vary based on the document.

5 Top Line Links & Side Line Links Use Top Line Links and Side Line Links in the FASB Codification to easily link to related content in the right navigation pane. Link from FASB Codification to GAAP Reporter Top Line Links Side Line Links Top Line Link type indicates the type of Top Line Link that is selected and offers a list of Top Line Links in the dropdown menu, providing another way for you to display results in the right navigation pane. Top Line Link buttons in the FASB Codification provide links to related content that reference the selected FASB section. In the above example, Top Line Link button Expl provides links to GAAP Reporter Explanations that reference Initial Measurement. Side Line Link buttons in the FASB Codification provide links to related content that reference the specific subsection or paragraph number in the FASB Codification. In the above example, Side Line Link button Expl provides links to GAAP Reporter Explanations that reference

Side Line Link FASC Updates Use Side Line Link FASC to get back to FASB Codification section Provides updated language for this FASB section that has changed as a result of this ASU. 6

7 Keyword Search The Search screen allows you to keyword search through your sources or use search templates to find specific information. Select Practice Area: Accting, Audit & Corporate Finance. Perform a keyword search by entering the words or phrases that best describe your research topic. Select a Keyword Search method: A Terms & Connectors search lets you provide one or more keyword terms, and an Intuitive Search identifies sentences, connectors, or citations and interprets your query accordingly. (You can choose from any of the source sets in the Choose Sources From drop-down menu for your search.) Use the Thesaurus/Query Tool to see examples and descriptions on how to use search connectors. Click FASB Codification to access FASB Templates: FASC Topic Title, FASC Number, FASC Pending and Superseded Standards. Click Find by Citation to find FASB Codification documents by Citation or Find Superseded Standards. 7

8 FASB Templates Access FASB templates from the Search screen by clicking on FASB Codification in the left pane OR hover on Search in the black menu bar and use the mega-menu. FASB templates include: FASB Topic Title, FASC Number, FASC Pending and Superseded Stds. FASC Topic Title Quickly link to specific FASB content in the Table of Contents. Select Topic. Enter Keywords (optional). Click Search. Link directly to Initial Measurement. 8

9 FASB Tools Access FASB Tools from the Tools screen by clicking FASB Codification in the left pane OR hover on Tools in the black menu bar and use the mega-menu. FASB tools include: Cross Reference, Join Sections, Combine Subsections and Topic Printing. Cross Reference Tool Use the Cross Reference tool to search By Standard and/or By Codification. 9

10 FASB Tools (Continued) The Cross Reference table displays live links to paragraph numbers in the original FASB standard and to the new corresponding paragraph numbers in the FASB Codification. Original Standard paragraph numbers. FASB Codification paragraph numbers. Topic Printing: Print all sections within a specific Topic or selected content within a Topic into a single document. Select a FASB Codification Topic. Click Search. Select the subtopics and subsections that you want OR select all by checking the box in the gray menu bar. Click Print Sections. 0
