7 Executive Summary This document outlines the Initial Ideas and scope for the online communication through the PATHway project website and social media accounts. The website shall go live on the 03/03/2015. This date being the official launch of PATHway 1.0 Project Website ( Project Website ( The project website will be used as a powerful tool for ensuring coherent information flow between all entities involved or interested in PATHway (the Commission, healthcare providers, potential commercial entities, universities, technological centres, standardisation bodies, etc). The website will be referred to in all PATHway public documents and presentations (along with a QR code to bring users to the site via mobile devices), and will be lay-person orientated. It will include a link to the restricted Basecamp project Management System software (password protected), which will host all consortium activities. The hosting and domain contract is with godaddy.com and will be held for 5 years. The PATHway project secured the domain name for 5 years and generous webhosting for 254 as shown in Fig 1.1. This includes 100GB webhosting space, unlimited bandwidth, 100 address and 10 MySQL databases (1GB each) Fig 1.1 Godaddy confirmation of 7

8 The first draft of the website will go live on the 3rd March 2015 (for discussion at the PATHway kick off meeting, and for the official public launch) 2.0 Website Tender Award Criteria During the early stages of the PATHway project the design & implementation of the project website went to Tender. Three companies were chosen: Fusio, Fabrika and Nevada. Scores were assigned on 3 subjects. Ultimate cost, Website requirements and previous experience. The project coordination team felt that Fabrika gave the best combined quality and value for money, and was chosen therefore to complete the task. 9 3.0 Website Design A mock-up of the early design phase for the PATHway website can be found in Fig 3.1. The website was designed in collaboration with Fabio Rosini (Fabrika: graphic, web design and illustration) who also created the PATHway logo. Fig 3.1: PATHway website design mockup 9

10 4 Website Functionality For the website to be successful a clean / simple design approach will be taken. Being able to maintain the website is of upmost importance while delivering all of the PATHway activity to the general public. At this early stage a road map of what is to be published on the website can be found in Fig 1.3. Discussions on each of the Home page tabs will also be outlined. 11 4.1 Home Page This Tab will guide the user to the project website front page wherever the user maybe within the PATHway website. The homepage will contain a description of the project summary and justification so as to provide the user with an immediate overview of the project. 4.2 Project Tab This tab will include 3 dropdown links to the following 1. Concepts Outline the PATHway concept in a way that the public can understand. 2. Objectives The objectives of the PATHway project (Laymen s terms) 3. CVD General awareness of Cardio Vascular Disease and the health implications it can have on a person. 4.3 News Tab This tab will include 3 dropdown links to the following 1. Events A list of events that the PATHway project attending / hosting 2. Outreach Activities A description of the outreach activities any PATHway consortium member be part of. 3. News A list of articles / websites that PATHway has been mentioned on. 4.4 Research Tab This tab will include 1 dropdown link to the following 1. Dissemination An up to date list of all dissemination activities undergone on the PATHway project. This may include Oral presentation details, Poster presentations, Journal articles etc. Files will be publically available where permitted. 4.5 Partners Tab This tab will include 8 dropdown links. Each link shall provide a short description of the partner institute (With hyperlink) and there role in the PATHway project. Key Team members will have a short biography under the respective affiliation. 4.6 Contact Us Tab A web form where the general public can make contact with the PATHway team. 11

12 5 Social Media PATHway will use a variety of Social media platforms to increase reach and visibility of the activities and results created during the 44 month project. This will also direct the audience to the project website and vice versa, and create a forum for two-way conversation with our audience. Social Media platforms will consist of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Screengrabs of the various accounts can be found in Fig 5.1. Please note the accounts have just been activated (12/2/2015) and will be used as content related to the project is generated.
