3 Executive Summary This document reports on the major communication channels set up to realize the online presence for the H2020-5GPPP CogNet project. The main objective of online presence activity in CogNet is to raise awareness on CogNet research and solicit discussions, cross-validation and exchange with the research community in Europe and beyond. CogNet has chosen to set up a number of communication means, ranging from a project dedicated web site, up to social networking channels in Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Youtube. All those means are intended to report on CogNet progresses and convey our research findings to the public. The CogNet website has been designed and implemented in order to provide brief yet comprehensive information on project goals and scope, publications, results and other similar relevant material. The design of the website is compliant with standard practices for improving usability for the navigation and clarity over different type of fixed and mobile devices. CogNet Version 1.0 Page 3 of 14

Project communication strategy Key goal of the communication and dissemination activities in CogNet is to establish an efficient and consortium-wide process to publish and get validation from the wide research community on the major findings and results of our technical activities. The CogNet communication and dissemination strategy builds on top of the following main pillars: Identifying and reaching target groups and stakeholders potentially impacted by CogNet research to discuss how they stand to benefit from the project results. Creating awareness of the project s objectives, concepts and relevant results via multiple communication channels (incl. social networks) and dissemination activities (papers, presentations, workshops). Collect and process feedback on the project in the form of validation of results, alternative approaches and industry advice from within the project expertise or the wider project community / stakeholders including research, academic, telecoms standardization bodies and industry. To realize the communication part of this strategy, the consortium has decided to set up a project website ( and a number of social network accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube) over which we intend to convey our news, major findings and reference material. To realize the dissemination goals, a number of activities have been planned as reported in another dedicated deliverable of the Workpackage 7. CogNet Version 1.0 Page 5 of 14

CogNet Web site The CogNet website has been designed and implemented in order to provide useful information concerning project vision and objectives, news, publications, results and other relevant material. It will serve as the main public information point. The design of the website is compliant with standard practices for improving usability for the navigation and clarity. It is structured in a way that allows periodical updates with low maintenance effort as new information is made available. The CogNet website is publicly reachable at the following link: Website structure The website structure has been conceived to be as much clear and fluid as possible, with multiple sections defined to map group relevant information about the project contents and activities: HOMEPAGE gives a brief overview of the project vision and its goals; PROJECT gives hints on objectives, workpackages and partners in the consortium; COGNET in 5G-PPP describes how COGNET contributes to 5G-PPP research strategy; DISSEMINATION contains links to public deliverables, papers and presentations issued by the COGNET consortium NEWS & EVENTS lists highlights on relevant public activities and events. CONTACTS gives to all visitors the possibility to contact the project s consortium Homepage The COGNET website homepage gives a quick overview of the project. It is mainly composed of several sub-spaces with different information and hooks to deepening child pages. The homepage has a simple look and reports in its central area main information on 5G technology, our research scope on Autonomic Network Management, Machine Learning, selfmanaging and self-administering networks. A side bar of the homepage contains the latest updates linked to News and Events. CogNet Version 1.0 Page 6 of 14

7 Figure 1 CogNet Homepage Project section This section is divided in three sub-sections, namely Objectives & Approach, Workpackages and Partners. This section is focused on the project s specific aspects and will cover the objectives, a description of each Workpackage, and a list with the partners logo and their role in the project. 9 Other sections Other website sections are listed below along with a brief described: Cognet in 5GPPP: this page describes which theme of the 5GPPP CogNet is targeting (5G Network Management research area) and links the root 5GPPP website in which all the coordination information and activities will be duly reported. Dissemination: in this page Public Deliverable are listed and, at a later stage, made available for download. The Publication sub-section will contain all the Presentations and Paper that will be produced during the project execution and beyond. News and Events: this section is dedicated to host the News relevant to CogNet or 5GPPP initiative, as well as the participation by partners in conferences and events. This section will be updated periodically or as soon as new dissemination material and information will be available. Contact: this section will give the possibility to any visitor to contact or send a message to the project coordinator. 3. CogNet social media In order to better spread CogNet awareness towards researcher s community and general public, it has been agreed to set up the most common social media.

Social media accounts currently activated are: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook. A YouTube channel is under preparation and will contain e.g. project demos, public speeches from coordinator and partners, etc. Its preparation is deemed as not urgent being the project in its early stages of design with not many videos to publish. All the social media accounts and profiles are linked to the website in order to have a quick access to all the on-line presence channels Twitter The Cognet Twitter account is available at the following link: The Twitter page for CogNet appears as in the following figure: Figure 4 Twitter account At the moment, the Twitter profile has just 11 follower and 6 following, mostly from the project consortium.
