1 How to make copies with Canon Color ImageRUNNER C2880i A copy machine is always needed in all general office environments. This machine has many features such as copying, stapling, scanning, etc. This instructional guide will help anyone make copies with the copy machine. These instructions are for individuals associated with the Biology Program to help current and new faculty, staff, and student help as well as graduate Teaching Assistants (TAs). Materials needed Users must have a Dept. ID and Password to use this machine. o Ask the Biology Program Advisor, Joseph Menor, Jr. to double check your Dept. ID and Password. Users must have a document to copy.

2 Logging in to the machine The copy machine is usually on screen-saver mode. The screen will be black as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1: Screen saver mode To turn on the machine, press the ON/OFF button as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2: Turn on the machine As shown in Figure 3, this screen will display when the machine is On. Enter your Dept. ID and Password. Figure 3: Log in with Dept. ID

3 As shown in Figure 4, after you input your Dept. ID, you need to touch the screen that says Password. Figure 4: Log in with your Password After inputting your Dept ID and Password, click the button ID as shown in Figure 5. Figure 5: ID After logging in, the screen should look like Figure 6. If you don't receive this screen, double check your Dept. ID and Password. If you tried again and received the screen shown in Figure 3 or 4, ask the Biology Program Advisor, Joseph Menor, Jr. to check your Dept. ID and Password. Figure 6: Screenshot after Log in.

4 Making Copies Making color copies The default screen will automatically choose black for all copies. If you want to make color copies, click the Black dropdown as shown in Figure 7. NOTE: Graduate Teaching Assistants (TAs) are NOT allowed to make color copies. Figure 7: Make Black or Color Copies After clicking the Black dropdown, the screen should look like Figure 8. To make color copies, I suggest choosing Auto-Color Select. Figure 8: Choose Auto-Color Select

5 Making stapled copies The documents can be stapled when choosing the option Finishing as shown in Figure 9. Touch the screen with the option Finishing. Figure 9: Choose Finishing After selecting the Finishing option, the screen will look like Figure 10. The default screen will have Collate selected. Figure 10: Screen shot after choosing the Finishing option. To staple the document, touch the Staple button as shown in Figure 11. Figure 11: Select Staple

6 After selecting Staple, touch the Next button as shown in Figure 12. Figure 12: Click Next The screen should look like Figure 13. The default chooses the staple to be put in the Top Left of a document. If you want the staple in the Top Right, Bottom Left, or Bottom Right, touch the options you would like. Touch OK. If you don't want to staple, touch Cancel. Figure 13: Where do you want the Staple? After touching OK, the screen should look like Figure 14. The Finishing tab will have a message of Staple above. 7 Making double-sided copies To create a copy that is already double-sided or to make multiple single-sided sheets to be double sided, you will want to choose this option. Touch 2-Sided as shown in Figure 15. Figure 15: Make double-sided copies The screen should look like Figure 16. The 1 2 Sided tab is already highlighted and defaulted if you want to make single-sided sheets to doublesided documents. Click OK when you're done. Figure 16: Selection to make single sheet documents to be double sided. To make a 2-sided copies of a 2-sided document, touch the 2 2 Sided tab as shown in Figure 17. Click OK when done. 8 After touching OK, the screen should look like Figure 18. The 2-Sided tab will have a message of 2 2 Sided above. Figure 18: Screen shot after choosing Staple and 2 2 Sided option If you accidentally chose 2 2 Sided and wanted 1 2 Sided, click the 2- Sided tab as shown in Figure 19. 9 Figure 21: Screen shot after choosing Staple and 1 2 Sided option The screen should look like Figure 21. If you want to cancel the 2-Sided option, click the 2-Sided button and click Cancel on the next screen.

10 Choosing the paper tray For selecting the paper tray, click the Paper Select button as shown in Figure 22. Figure 22: Select the Paper Tray The screen should look like Figure 23. Four trays can be selected for copying either letter (landscape or portrait) or legal with a Bypass Tray. Depending on your document, select the tray that matches the document being put into the feeder. Auto usually works unless you have documents that aren't letter or legal sized. 11 Putting your document in the feeder Figure 25: Feeder tray Once you selected the Staple and 2-Sided option, put your document in the feeder tray as shown in Figure 25 with the text faced up. Caution: Remove all staples, paper clips and remove any bent or folded pages. If you have these, your original documents may be stuck in the feeder and can damage the documents. Printing how many documents to copies As shown in Figure 26, select the number of copies you want to make. After selecting a number, click the Start button.
