1 Part A Creating an Online Course Log in to mytraining using your GatorLink or Shands credentials at mytraining.ufhealth.org Click on the Administration icon, click on Product Administration, click on Learning, and then click Learning Activities. Click on New Activity Wizard 1. In Step 1 Activity Type, select An online course, then click the Next button. 1
2 In Step 2 - Content Upload, select Yes. Click the Choose File button to navigate to the correct SCORM file. Click Open, then click the Next button. (If you are planning to use a video link from YouTube for example, select No, the content is located on a website.) 3. Verify your activity information in Step 3 - Upload Confirmation: Type in the Activity name, in the following format: Central Venous Line Placement. Ignore Launch method. Type in the Activity Code in the following format: 2
3 o If you are building an Online Course for a UF audience, your activity code should meet the following activity code requirements: - UF_CourseCode_OLT - Example UF Online Course Activity Code: UF_EHS870_OLT Note: Please contact UF s Training & Organizational Development office at training@ufl.edu to confirm your Activity Code. o If you are building an Online Course for an HSC College, Research Center, and/or Institute audience, your activity code should meet the following activity code requirements: - UFH_Unit/DeptSimplifiedCourseTitle_OLT - Example UFH Online Course Activity Code: UFH_VetMedMRISafety_OLT Note: Your entire Activity Code should be no longer than 80 characters. o o If you are building an Online Course for a UF Health Shands audience, your activity code should meet the following activity code requirements: - UFHS_Unit/Dept_SimplifiedCourseTitle_OLT - Example UF OLT Course Activity Code: UFHS_NSG_MANDBloodAdmin_OLT If Continuing Education Credit (CE) is offered for this course (and this course is not a part of a Curriculum), the activity code for this Online Course will be the #20 associated with this CE credit. - Example Online Course Activity Code for CE Online Course: Note: Your entire Activity Code should be no longer than 80 characters. ***If you are unsure which group you are building your Online Course for please contact the mytraining team at mytraining@health.ufl.edu for further assistance.*** Type in a Description. Note: If Continuing Credit (CE) is offered, include those details so that learners will read this when first registering for the course. Type in a Description. Check No registration required Uncheck Automatically publish this activity to production. Click the Create button and wait a few moments during the Publishing Status operation for confirmation that your file has been uploaded and for the Assign Libraries window to open. 3
4 4. In the Assign Libraries window, select one or more appropriate categories, for example, UF Health Shands >> Compliance/Regulatory, then click the Assign button. 5. Select No, close this wizard, check Open this activity in Staging Editor, then click the Finish button. The wizard will close and the Staging Editor window will open. 4
5 Part B Editing a Course Complete the following steps in the Staging Editor to edit the Learning Activity Properties: 1. Under the Configure General Properties section, scroll down past the Owner input box and fill in the Contact (Name/phone #), personnel, and Keywords fields. Note: If this course is part of a curriculum you can skip keywords. 5
6 2. Scroll down to the Status section (Active is preselected). Select No registration required, Can be subscribed, and Can be fulfilled. If this online course is part of a curriculum, select Hide from search results for Learners and Managers (this helps your learners just search and register for the curriculum and not get confused by finding parts of the curriculum in the search results), and Hidden from Transcript. Click the dropdown arrow under Status: and select Development Complete. 6
7 3. Scroll down to Grading and Completion. Note that Contribute to parent activity completion is preselected. Select Required to be completed. If you have credit hours associated with this course, enter the number of credits in the Estimated credit hours field. The default UF Health Diploma template is automatically selected. If you d like to use a different diploma format, please send an request to mytraining@health.ufl.edu when you re ready to make the course live. 4. Scroll down to Metadata. Use the dropdown menus to select the Media type, Delivery method, and Content type. 7
8 Note: If your course has CE credits or has an expiration date, you can add a date in the Expiration date field. The expiration date specifies the date on which the learning activity expires. If the expiration date for an activity is already past, it will not appear in search results or catalog search in Learner mode. 5. Click the Optional button on the bottom right and then click the General link under Web Based Training. 6. Scroll down to select Copy progress details to next attempt (you ll see a warning message asking Are you sure? ). Click the Yes button. Note that Show the Progress Details page and Show interaction details are preselected. 8
9 7. Increase the maximum tries per attempt if you would like a user to have more than one opportunity to view the SCORM package. By leaving this field blank, it will default to one attempt. It is recommended you leave both of these fields blank for online courses unless you have a specific need. Enter the Maximum Attempts and Maximum Tries per Attempt: If you have a need to limit the number of times Learners access this activity, please contact the mytraining team at mytraining@health.ufl.edu for further assistance. 8. Scroll down to Content Player Settings. Select Hide SumTotal player navigation, then select Open content player window in full screen mode. Uncheck the Disable scrollbars for content player window (Vertical & Horizontal) setting. Check Open content player in native mode (applies only to SCORM content). 9
10 9. Click the OK button in the bottom right of the window. Part C Publish your Learning Activity 1. Click the Validate for Production button on the bottom left of the screen. You may receive a warning that states, Enabling Copy progress details to the next attempt option, will ensure that learners are redirected to the appropriate content in the next attempt based on the progress details of the previous attempt. This is an expected error. Click the Move to Production button to proceed. 2. The status of your activity should now be shown as Successfully Moved to Production. 10
11 3. Click the Close button on the bottom right of the screen to return to the main Activity Management page and the Learning Activities Library. 4. Once you have successfully uploaded your activity and tested it from your Learner account, to release this course and make it available to your audience or assign it to your audience. Part D Start a New Task or Signout Use the icons on the mytraining Home menu bar to navigate between tasks. Click the Self icon then click Signout to log out of mytraining. 11
