PE ASSESSMENT - Introduction Welcome to the Sport Premium Web App (SPWA) PE Assessment Tool. A user defined assessment tool to track individual student progress towards end of year PE targets. Demonstrate if students are below, on or exceeding their targets and view individualised reports. Also track Pupil Premium, SEN, Intra/Inter Competition, Leadership and Extra-curricular Clubs. The system has a default set of headings, detailed below: The CATEGORY headings are shown in Black text, the ACTIVITIES within the categories are shown in White text The system has been designed so that you can add/remove categories and activities according to your PE curricular. Looking at the diagram above, anything that appears within the section indicated by the arrows (positions 20 49) can be defined by individual schools. To make your changes, please follow the simple instructions on the following pages. Add Categories - Page 2 Add Classes - Page 6 Add Activities - Page 3 & 4 Add Registers - Page 6 & 7 Add Students - Page 5 View - Page 8 & 9
To Access the System Login to with your username (URN) and enter your password Click the menu tab Maintenance Step 1: Categories You will see the following displayed as default: To add a new category, click the grey button labelled Add a New Category The following screen will appear: Category - input your new category name (e.g. Outdoor Activities, Winter Games, Summer Games etc) Position in Grid select from drop-down list the order in which you want the category to appear on the screen Active - tick box to ensure category is defined as active and appears on the assessment grid Click Save To delete an existing category, click on the category name and press the button titled Delete Please note: deleting with also delete all associated activities, you may therefore wish to make the category inactive rather than deleting. This will ensure you can re-instate it at a later date, if required. Once all categories have been added/deleted (or made inactive), click on the Go Back button. 2 P a g e
Step 2: Activities You will see the following displayed as default: To add a new activity, click the grey button labelled Add a New Activity The following screen will appear: 3 P a g e
Activity type in the name of your activity (e.g. trampolining, basketball, rounders etc) Category - select from the drop-down list which category your activity is to appear Description free type your own text in here to further describe the activity. The description will appear when a student s name is clicked on Active tick box to ensure activity is defined as active and appears on the assessment grid Position within category select from drop-down list the order in which you want the activity to appear within the category Entry Type - the system is defaulted to Radio Button but you can change this using the dropdown menu Please note: Radio Button this allows the user to select only ONE option and is recommended when measuring student progress against targets e.g. emerging, embedded or exceeded. Check Box this allows the user to select MULTIPLE options and is recommended when more than one option per student may need to be selected e.g. Pupil Premium, SEN, Clubs Text Box - this allows the user to input free text. Student Percentage this is set up by default to allow percentage calculations for each student. We do not recommend that this is selected as it is a calculated field. Tool Tips - free type your own text in here. Tooltips will appear when hovering over the activity heading in PE Assessment (The bottom 5 fields are pre-populated and will not need changing) Click Save Repeat the process for every activity. When all activities have been added, click the orange Go Back button To delete an existing activity, click on the activity name and press the button titled Delete. Please note: you may wish to make the activity inactive rather than deleting. When an activity is inactive it will still exist, but it will not appear on the PE Assessment grid. This will ensure you can re-instate it at a later date, if required. Once all categories have been added/deleted (or made inactive), click on the Go Back button. 4 P a g e
Step 3: Students This section is where you add all your school student names, gender and date of birth. Click on Add a New Student Enter student s details Date of Birth is optional, if you wish to add it in please insert it in the following format: DD/MM/YYYY. We do recommend you use it if you have two students with the same name. Click Save Please note: when you have clicked save the student s details will disappear and a new student form will open, allowing you to enter the next student s details. When all students have been added and you have pressed Save for each student, click Go Back. This will take you back to the list of students. All students (including those just added) will appear in list format. Click Go Back to return to the maintenance page. 5 P a g e
Step 4: Classes This section is where you add your class names. Click on Add a New Class Type in the Class name Click Save. As above screen clears, enter next class When all classes have been added and you have pressed Save for each class, click Go Back. This will take you back to the list of classes. All classes (including those just added) will appear in list format. Click Go Back to return to the maintenance page. Step 5: Registers This is section where you put your students into the correct classes, as per your class registers. 6 P a g e
Click Add a new Register Select the academic year from the drop-down menu Select the class name from the drop-down menu Select school year from the drop-down menu In this section all of the student names will appear down the left hand side in alphabetical order. Click on the student name(s) which refer to your chosen class register (see above) Click the right arrow key to transfer the highlighted names onto the register (see below) The names added to the register will now appear on the right hand side. Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen If you wish to remove a student from that class register, highlight their name on the right hand side (by clicking on it) and press the left arrow key to remove them. All categories, activities and students should now be on the system. You can at any time add, edit or remove details using the process above. 7 P a g e
To view the Assessment Grid Click Dashboard Click PE & School Sports Survey Click PE Assessment Select a class from the drop-down list You can now start to use the PE Assessment tool and tick/highlight individual student details accordingly. From here you can also view the Progress Statements for students to achieve. This is done by clicking on the i shown next to an activity title, the following will be displayed: If you wish your own statements to be added, please us at contact@spwa.co.uk 8 P a g e

The featured filters are set up as School Year, Gender, PP and SEN Registers. To use these filters, use the following: Starting on the PE Assessment grid, select a class using the dropdown box. As no filters are currently applied, you will see all the students in that class appear on the screen To see male or female students, SEN students or students receiving Pupil Premium, select the appropriate dropdown box(s) The page will now refresh itself and display only the desired students. 9 P a g e
