1 Cerner 2015 Upgrade This document will demonstrate how to utilize the tagging feature, favorite a note template and carbon copy/forward to a provider a progress note as part of the Cerner 2015 upgrade. Tagging Items that can be tagged are: Prior progress notes Lab results Diagnostic reports Message Center Nurse Notes Telephone Encounters Tagging via the Table of Contents From the Notes tab, click on the documents, select the document from the list and it will display in the side window. Using the mouse, left click and drag the mouse curser over the text to highlight the text to tag. Once the text has been highlighted and the left mouse button is released, the tag icon will appear. Multiple items can be tagged from the same document. Tagging History of Present Illness Tagging Review of Systems Note, any document in Notes can be tagged including telephone encounters, nurse notes, progress notes, hospital H&P/DC summaries, radiology repots, etc

2 Tagging via the mpage The Manage Workflow mpage is selectable from the table of contents bands: Ambulatory Summary Patient Summary View Point Items that can be tagged are: Prior progress notes Lab results Diagnostic reports Tagging Prior Progress Notes From the Manage Workflow tab, click on Documents, select the document from the list (changing the filters may be necessary), and click the Open Document at the top right of the window. Using the mouse, left click and drag the mouse curser over the text to highlight the text to tag. Once the text has been highlighted and the left mouse button is released, the tag icon will appear. Multiple items can be tagged from the same document. Tagging History of Present Illness Tagging Review of Systems Once the items have been selected, click on the blue door at the top left of the window.

3 Tagging Lab Results From the Manage Workflow tab, click on Labs, hover over the lab result, right click, and click the tag icon to add to the tag clip board. Note: Labs are tagged by individual results and not by lab group. For example, a provider can tag the white blood cell count from the CBC, but not select the entire CBC with one tagging. Tagging Diagnostic Results From the Manage Workflow tab, click on Diagnostics, select the document from the list (changing the filters may be necessary) and the report will open in a new window. Using the mouse, left click and drag the mouse courser over the text to highlight the text to tag. Once the text has been highlighted and the left mouse button is released, the tag icon will appear. Multiple items can be tagged from the same document. Once the items have been selected, click on the blue door at the top left of the window.

4 Creating the Progress Note Click on Create Note at the bottom of the Manage Workflow page or Add from the Documents tab from the table of contents. The window will open to allow the provider to select the note type and note template. The visual display is slightly different with the note type on the left and the template on the right instead of the type on top and the template in the bottom window. Favorite Note Template When the Cerner upgrade is loaded, the option to favorite a note template will be available. To select a template as a favorite, simply select the gold star next to the template(s). Notice the template choices available are 22. Once the selections are made, only two choices are selected as favorites, significantly reducing the options to sort through. The note type will be unaffected; however, the display is slightly different in the new upgrade view.

5 Lab results will auto populate under Lab Results while the diagnostic and progress note tagged items can be dragged and dropped where the provider prefers.

6 Click on the tagged text from the left window and drop in the desired section in the progress note. Note Forwarding From Sign/Submit When a progress note is signed, a pop up window will allow for quick forwarding or carbon coping. From this window, the provider can use the search field to add providers (or use existing patient relationships/favorite providers) to add a sponsoring provider for chart review, or carbon copy another provider involved with patient care to stay up to date.

7 To favorite a provider, use the search field and select the gold star next to the provider s name. Note: adding a provider does not automatically add to the favorites list, but due to the patient s relationship, may be on the Relationships list as seen below. If the provider is outside of the Memorial system, selecting Create provider letter will allow you to print the information and fax/postal mail the same information for patient continuity of care.
