Introduction It is possible to display an image, or multiple images, of a feature in a Profile using a standard image widget to dynamically retrieve the correct static image for the feature the Profile is being displayed. For example it is possible to display a graphic depicting the boundary of the selected Ward which will change dynamically when the Profile is viewed for a different Ward. Please note however that in most cases, these images will be pre-generated static images. It is entirely up to you how these static images are generated. This document describes the steps you need to be able to dynamically link to the appropriate static image stored as a file on the webserver. If you have any questions please contact the GeoWise User Support Team (see section 5). 2. Prerequisites The images you wish to display must include the feature ID of the relevant Geo-Type somewhere in their filename. This is required so that IAS can match up the relevant image file to the selected geo-feature which is done using the features unique ID. To check the feature ID s stored in IAS navigate to the relevant Geo-Type feature page in the Administration Website and inspect the Feature ID column, Figure 1. Figure 1: Geo-Features page showing Feature ID s Create a folder called ProfileImages inside the User Websites custom folder on the web server, the default installation path to this would be: C:\Program Files\GeoWise\InstantAtlas Server\Webs\User\Custom\Images\ProfileImages Place all your feature images inside this new ProfileImages folder, Figure 2, ensuring the feature ID is somewhere in the filename of the individual images. Note the image names shown below follow the name format ward<featureid>boundary.jpg.

5 Setting up profile images Page 3 3. Create a new Image Widget On the Administration Website create a new Image Widget. You do not need to add any indicator instances in to this Widget as the selected feature ID is used to link to the correct image. On the Settings tab of the Widget enter the Image URL that will be used to retrieve the image in the following format: /IAS/Custom/Images/{image folder name}/{ prefix}#featureid{1}{ suffix} Where: {image folder name} image folder name e.g. ProfileImages in the above example { prefix} is the filename prefix e.g. ward in the above example { suffix} is the filename suffix e.g. boundary.jpg in the above example So, in this example the completed URL is as follows (Figure 3): /IAS/Custom/Images/ProfileImages/ward#FEATUREID{1}boundary.jpg The #FEATUREID {1} segment of the URL is dynamic: once this widget has been added to the profile it will retrieve the appropriate image as requested by the end user viewing the profile based on the ID of the selected feature. Reviewing the image To view the image Widget add it to a new or existing Section and Profile then view the Profile on the User Website ensuring that the correct image displays for the feature selected, Figure 4.
