Using Keywords to Describe & Add Context with Snapper.Photo s PhotoManager Welcome to the World of S napper.photo
Getting there with a click Click on an Index Line to go directly there Click on the home button to come back Adding Keywords to Your Photos Adding Keywords to Add Context & Describe Your Photos Using Keywords to Enhance Your Special Interest Searching for Your Photos by Keywords Doing So Much More with Your Photos Keyboard Shortcuts
Adding Keywords to Your Photos Adding Keywords to your photos is another great way to add context and description to your Photos and makes them easily found. You can assign any keyword/s to a Photo or selection of Photos as simply as typing the words into the Keyword window. No need to fear losing your work as we save everything you do as you do it. As your Photo library grows, adding Keywords is a sure way to keep your library manageable and ensures that you can find your Photos with speed & ease. 1.1) Adding Keywords Manually To add Keyword to your photos, select the photo/s by clicking on a photo, hold down the Ctrl key for selecting multiple photos selected Photos are displayed with a blue highlight border & can be selected in any order In the Keyword Window, type in any word/s you wish to associate with the selected Photo/s
There is no limit on the number of keywords you can attach to our Photos. Note, it s advisable to separate your Keywords with a comma as this helps you read your description and makes you searches more efficient it s advisable to separate your Keywords with a comma as this makes it easier to read your descriptions and makes your searches more efficient 1.2) Adding Keywords on Import Another way to add Keywords to your Photos is to do this at the same time as you import your Photos. Click on Click on or Import Photos to Select the photos from your SD or CF memory Card to select the photos on a local hard drive or removable drive Click on Import To & choose where to Import your Photos to, create a New Folder if you need to and click Ok Click on Enter Keywords in the space provided and click OK
you can choose to fill in the information for Title, Subject, Author & Copyright or leave it blank. Choose to Import Photos in any of the following 3 ways; 1.2.1) Select All Click on Click on to select all Photos to import & your Photo/s will be imported 1.2.2) Select Individual Select individual photo/s by clicking on a photo, hold down the Ctrl key when selecting multiple photos selected Photos are displayed with a blue tick box in the top left of the image
Click on & your Photo/s will be imported you can select Photos in any order, use the scroll bar or mouse s scroll wheel to scroll up and down during your selection process 1.2.3) Check for Possible Duplicates & Import Click on duplicates. & a check will be made for possible on completion of the task, all possible duplicates will be shown with a red highlight border
Now Click on at the bottom left of the screen scroll down to see the non-duplicate photos as they are often found at the bottom of the selection Click On & your selected Photo/s will be imported
Adding Keywords to Add Context & Describe Your Photos Whether you are a seasoned professional photographer or a keen enthusiast, managing your photo library is just as important. Adding Keywords to your Photos in a consistent way enables you and others to find your Photos with ease. There is no right or wrong way of doing this & the following are examples intended to help to find a way that suits you best. 2.1) Example: This Photo was taken off the South African North Coast whilst diving at the five-mile reef system at a popular diving site called Sodwana. Keywords added in my collection to this photo are; Loggerhead, Sea Turtle, Sodwana, five-mile reef, South Africa This Photo was taken from the viewing deck of the Empire State building in the heart of NYC, USA Keywords added in my collection to this photo are; World Trade Centre, construction, Downtown Manhattan, NYC, Empire State viewing deck, Liberty Island
Using Keywords to Enhance Your Special Interest Categorising your Photos using Tags is a great way to create groupings of your photos that can easily be accessed, for example: Wildlife or Birdlife Whilst it is possible to create a Tag for each specie or common name of a Bird or Animal, your list of Tags will quickly become large and cumbersome & therefore it is far better to Tag your Photos of Wildlife or Birdlife in Tags & then within each of these Tags enter Keywords relating to the specific bird or animal An example of this is; Tag Keyword Birdlife Jackass Penguin, Spheniscus demersus Birdlife Green Wood Hoopoe, Phoeniculus purpureus Birdlife Common Scimitarbill, Rhinopomastus cyanomelas Birdlife African Hoopoe, Upupa Africana Birdlife Crested Barbet, Trachyphonus vaillantii Birdlife Amethyst Sunbird, Chalcomitra amethystina Birdlife African Harrier-Hawk, Polyboroides typus In the above example click on the Tag Birdlife and all related Photos in your library will be displayed. Now click on a Photo and any Keywords you have entered previously will be displayed giving you both the common name as well as the scientific name of the bird Entering the common name as well as the scientific will enrich your memory and enhance the enjoyment of your special interests.
Searching for Your Photos by Keywords At any time and from any Thumbnail view, you can enter words in the search box and find your Photos. Type in the words you want to search for in the Search Box Example: Penguin Press the Enter Key All the Photos matching the word/ s you typed in will be displayed clicking on either the or the in the Quick Menu clears the entry in the Search Box
