Use might mean browse an issue of the journal OR it might mean searching in all of the issues These are two different activities and best done in different ways 1

2 About Journals The library subscribes to thousands of journals Majority, by far, are through cost effective, package deals which we get in databases Often with incomplete coverage (license does not go back to first year(s) and/or might not provide access to last 12 months, called an embargo ) Journal example: Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis Database examples: Education Research Complete and PsycARTICLES 2

3 About Journals For these package journals, we usually cannot go straight to the publisher site to obtain access but must do so through the journal locator or a database 3

4 About Journals Some journals we license individually to obtain recent issues W/O embargo, but they generally do not go back to first years either (unless a fairly new journal) Examples are Journal of Experimental Analysis of Behavior and Psychology in the schools. 4

6 Journal Access Library Website The best way to access journals is through the library website. Establishes that you are a WCSU user Access is usually granted via IP address On campus, the computers have WCSU IP Off campus, you will be prompted to log in to CONSULS, which assigns a temporary WCSU IP to your device 6

7 Journal Access Options Best to access via one of two options 1. Through the library s Journal Finder Find the journal here and you will see one or more options to access it; example to follow 2. Through one of the library databases, as in doing a search in the database; example to follow No best choice in the path to take; depends on the journal and what you want to do (browse or search) 7

They choose the dates. In the case of JEAB and JABA, they stopped with the free access after
