3 1 Introduction This document provides an overview of the client side software required to access IBX esourcing, powered by Emptoris, as well as recommended settings for your Internet browser that will maximize application performance. The document also provides samples of application performance degradation that might be experienced on connections that are located large geographic distances from the hosted application server. Because Internet connection throughput can vary greatly from time to time and from region to region, the information contained herein merely represents average performance that might be expected. CPS cannot guarantee application response time for end-users.

4 2 Minimum System Requirements for End Users 1. Personal Computer connected to Internet All the transactions and the activities performed through the IBX esourcing are achievable using: Personal Computer (w/ Hardware supporting at least the minimum requirements of the operating system) 2. Operating System The platform is certified* and supported on the following OS: MS Windows 2000 Professional MS Windows XP Professional MS Windows Vista The following OS are supported** but not certified: MS Windows 98 MS Windows NT 3. Web Browser The following browser types are certified and supported: IE 6.0 SP1 or later IE 7.0 SP2 or later IE 8.0 The following browser type is supported but not certified: Netscape 6.2 Note: If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, please install the following security update from the Microsoft site: JScript 5.6 Security Update for Windows XP SP1 and SP2 (KB917344). We strongly recommend upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.0 or later as it offers better security than the earlier versions than IE Internet Connection 56K Modem (with a minimum 40K connection strongly recommended) ISDN DSL Cable Modem Corporate LAN / T1 or greater 5. Software Requirement

5 You must have one of the following excel versions installed: Excel 2000 Excel 2002 Excel 2003 Excel Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 pixels or more * Certified indicates that the packages have passed through a complete QA cycle and are fully qualified to work with IBX esourcing. ** Supported indicates that the packages have been tested and the underlying technologies are working, but have not been fully qualified for use with IBX esourcing. IMPORTANT NOTE: The IBX esourcing application requires that any pop-up blocker software and any personal firewall software is disabled on your local PC when you are accessing IBX esourcing application.

6 3 Recommended Default Browser Settings The procedures outlined below describe the recommended default settings for Microsoft Internet Explorer for all users. Special recommendations for users with low bandwidth clients are presented later in this document. A. Web Browser Settings To set Internet Explorer settings to Default: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click Advanced. 4. If you are using IE 6.0, then do the following: a Click Restore Defaults. b Click OK. 5. If you are using IE 7.0 or later, then do the following: a Click Restore Advanced settings. b Click Apply and then click OK. B. Privacy Settings To set Microsoft Privacy Settings to Medium: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click Privacy. 4. In the Settings section, set the bar to Medium. 5. Click Apply and then click Ok. A. Browser Cache Settings To set Browser Cache: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. If you are using IE 6.0, then do the following: a In the center panel, click Settings. The Settings dialog box b Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, click Automatically. c Verify that the setting of the Disk space to use field is at least 50 megabytes, or preferably higher. 4. If you are using IE 7.0 or later, then do the following:

7 a In the Browsing history section, click Settings. The Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box is displayed. b In the Temporary Internet Files section, select Automatically, for the Under Check for newer versions of stored pages option. c Verify that the setting of the Disk space to use field is at least 50 megabytes, or preferably higher. 5. Click OK to close the Settings or Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box. 6. Click OK to close the Internet Explorer dialog box. To clear Browser Cache: As a periodic maintenance measure, CPS recommends that users clear their browser s cache whenever they detect issues using the Sourcing Portfolio application. Clearing the browser s cache is also recommended when new versions of the Sourcing Portfolio are installed on the hosted server. 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. If you are using IE 6.0, then do the following: a On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet files section, click Delete Files. The Delete Files confirmation dialog box is displayed. b Select the Delete all offline content check box. c Click OK. 4. If you are using IE 7.0 or later, then do the following: a On the General tab, under Browsing history, click Delete. The Delete Browsing History dialog box is displayed. b In the Temporary Internet files section, click Delete Files. The Delete Files confirmation dialog box is displayed. c Click Yes. 5. Click OK to close the Internet Explorer dialog box.

8 4 Browser Settings for Low-Bandwidth Connections The procedures outlined below will optimize Microsoft Internet Explorer for low-bandwidth clients. These procedures are only recommended for users on a low-bandwidth who would like to increase the screen performance of the Sourcing Portfolio application. A. Enabling HTTP 1.1 compression To enable HTTP 1.1 compression: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab. 4. In the Settings section, under HTTP 1.1 settings, select the Use HTTP 1.1 and Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections check boxes. 5. Click OK. pages B. Setting Encrypted pages To set encrypted pages: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab. 4. In the Settings section, under Security, clear the Do not save encrypted to disk check box. 5. Click OK. C. Browser Cache Settings To set Browser Cache: 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box 3. In the center panel, click Settings. The Settings dialog box 4. Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, click Never. (Note: CPS recommends that the Automatic setting is used whenever possible. The Never setting should only be used for extremely low bandwidth clients.) 5. Verify that the setting of the Amount of disk space to use field is at least 50 megabytes, or preferably higher.

9 6. Click OK to close the Settings or Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box. 7. Click OK to close the Internet Explorer dialog box.
