4 1 Introduction The Computer Dispatch system in your office supports the use of the DriveLinQ software. This software runs on Android enabled devices in your vehicles and will communicate with computers in the dispatch centre. Call takers in the office enter jobs into the computer and drivers use DriveLinQ to accept jobs and to provide their locations to dispatch. The computer keeps track of the jobs and cars and matches jobs to cars in order. 1.1 DriveLinQ Description DriveLinQ makes use of the Android powered device it is installed on to communicate with the driver. It supports external devices such as smart meter, printer for credit card receipts, a GPS antenna, and Point Of Sale devices. It also can make use of the built in GPS on your Android device, if it is included Mobile Knowledge Page 2

5 2 Getting Started When you first launch DriveLinQ you will be brought into the following welcome screen: Immediately after the welcome screen the driver will be prompted for their user credentials. This screen logs you into the dispatch system and tells it which driver is driving the car. As explained later it is very important to log off DriveLinQ at the end of the shift to remove your ID from the vehicle. Enter your driver ID and 4 digit PIN then press the Send key. 2.1 Menu Screen The main menu screen shows all the icons for the various DriveLinQ functions Mobile Knowledge Page 3

6 Below are the options a user can choose from the main menu. Select the associated icon to use the function you want. 2.2 City Status The City Status screen shows a list of available zones, as well as how many vehicles are already booked into that zone. To book into the zone select the zone. The following screen shows the status of the fleet in city status and how many vehicles are currently operating in city zones. Once booked in you will see the relevant statistics for the zone you are in Mobile Knowledge Page 4

7 2.3 Street Hires / Pick Up To do a street hire simply hire/turn on your meter. This will take you to the Fare screen. The idea is to use your meter. At the end of the trip vacate your meter after you confirm the price. DBook is used to let dispatch know you are about to clear in a zone. You will be automatically booked in the zone once you finish your trip. 2.4 Mail The mail screen allows you to view the messages from dispatch that you have previously received. Only the first 2 lines of the message are shown. Select Delete All to delete all messages. Select a message to view the whole message. Select Menu to go back to the list of configuration options Mobile Knowledge Page 5

8 2.5 City View The City View screen shows a map of the zone in the city you are in (Notice: in this case user is logged in to zone 106 thus it is illuminated in green). City view will also notify a user if there is a job waiting to service. Simply click on a zone and then OK to CBOOK into that zone. (Picture illustrates Zone 30 has fare waiting.) 2.6 Codes Codes are used to send messages back to the supervisors at dispatch. Either select on the Value: box to enter in a code, or select one of the codes listed to have it filled in for you. Then select the Send button to send the code to dispatch. The specific codes available are configured in the dispatch system Mobile Knowledge Page 6

9 2.7 Information The information screen gives you information about the trip you are on. Additional Information Values may be set in the dispatch system. 2.8 Update From the Update screen you can get your current vehicle status as to how the dispatch system sees it. 2.9 Book The Book menu item is used to tell the dispatcher where you are located in a certain zone or area and ready to accept a job. Select Book and the zone number that you are in. The system will return a queue position indicating what zone you are posted in and what position you are in. If you are using GPS and entered the wrong zone number the system will provide a position in the zone you are physically in Mobile Knowledge Page 7

10 2.10 Out of Car When booked into a zone you can temporarily let dispatch know that you are out of your vehicle by selecting Out of Car. This will hold your queue position but the system will not offer any fares until you return to the vehicle. Use the update key to indicate you are available again CBook CBook allows you to attempt to obtain a trip in another zone, without booking out of your current zone. You enter in the zone number and hit send, and if there is a trip available to you in that zone you will then get it. Another method to CBook in a zone to obtain an available job would appear in the city view screen and users can hit the corresponding zone to get the trip Mobile Knowledge Page 8

11 2.12 Bid Bidding in Cabmate is a way to offer trips that are not standard fares. An example is a passenger with many packages or with an animal; a trip could be sent out as a bid instead of a regular fare Fare If you are on a job then you have access to the fare screen. This will let you see details about the current fare you are on. You can then click on the Navigation button at the top to get navigation directions to the pickup address from your current location Mobile Knowledge Page 9

12 Selecting this launches Google s Navigation app, which will give you navigation directions to the pickup address. Once you are done with it press the back arrow on your device to exit and return to DriveLinQ. Select the On Site button (if available) if you are at the pickup location, but have not yet picked up the passenger for some reason. If your meter is already on and you use the navigate button and the trip has a destination in it, the navigation will take you to the destination address. Select the No Show button to request a No Show from dispatch. Select the Call Out button (if available) to request the passenger be called to let them know you are on site Mobile Knowledge Page 10

13 2.14 Forms The forms screen gives a convenient list of forms that can be filled out. These forms can also be accessed from the specific screen that fits the context of the form, but if you need to get to a specific form quickly you can do so from this screen Fare History To see a history of fares you have completed select the Fare History icon. To delete all fares, select Delete All 2014 Mobile Knowledge Page 11

14 To view the specific details of a fare, select the fare. The first line of the Fare Details screen shows the dispatched time, accepted time, and drop-off time. The picture below illustrates the fare number and the type of fare, payment type and is a map showing the trip taken for the fare. Use the Previous (If present) and next keys to navigate through the fares in your fare history. Use the Delete key to delete the fare details that you are currently using from DriveLinQ Configuration The configuration screen gives you access to various information such as the current software version and the dispatch server you connect to. Unless dispatch requests that you go to this screen, you should not normally have to use this screen Mobile Knowledge Page 12

15 2.17 Map The map screen shows you where you are in a Google map. You can drag the map around with your finger, and zoom in and out with two fingers, bringing them together to zoom out, and apart to zoom in. Select the Satellite button to switch to an aerial photograph of your current location, and select the Map button to go back to the map view. Warning: Using the map browser other than inquiring about the current job address may result in excessive data usage Mobile Knowledge Page 13

16 2.18 Sign Off At the end of each shift, select Sign Off, and then OK. This way, the dispatch centre knows that you are no longer driving this vehicle and do not want fares Distress Select the Distress button to let dispatch know that you have an emergency. Only use this option when you as a driver are threatened inside the vehicle or there is a medical emergency. Use code messages for all other circumstances (i.e. ambulance, police assistance, etc.) Mobile Knowledge Page 14

18 2.22 Exit At any time after or during the scheduled hours of work if the user wants to quit the application simply use the EXIT icon to completely stop and shut down DriveLinQ. User needs to hit OK to accept the termination of the application Mobile Knowledge Page 16
