Programming the FDS-SYS1X Interface card in ProSim737: Programming the FDS-SYS1X card for use with the ProSim737 software is not so difficult as it looks.

1 Programming the FDS-SYS1X Interface card in ProSim737: Programming the FDS-SYS1X card for use with the ProSim737 software is not so difficult as it looks. In this example, I will program the Aft 1 Fuel pump and the corresponding light on the overhead panel. Before you can start assigning buttons and lights, you need to set some options in the ProSim configuration page. Start the ProSim737 software and open the configuration page.

2 Now open the Drivers Tab. Here you can set some options. Make sure you select Project Magenta Offsets and FSUIPC support. In case you also work with Opencockpits cards, make sure you enter the IOCP server address and port used by SIOC. You can find this address when you start SIOC. While you are in the drivers tab, you can also set some other options like Flight Illusion com port, directiput support for joysticks and so on. Press OK so ProSim accepts these settings. Ok, now for the example, we need the Project Magenta offset for the Aft 1 Fuel pump switch and light. You can find all necessary offsets in the documentation of Project Magenta. In case of our example: Switch offset: 56B1 Bit 2 Light offset: 56B0 Bit 2 We start with the most easy part of the process to program our switch and light.

Again open the configuration page of ProSim737 and select the Switches tab. Now scroll down to where you ll find the Fuel Left Aft setting. You ll notice that there are two setting for Fuel Left Aft.

You ll notice that there are two setting for Fuel Left Aft. On and Off. The one you need depends on how your switch is placed in the overhead panel. You should know when the contact is made. If you place the switch up or down. Lets assume that the contact is made when you put the switch down. In that case we re going to use Fuel Left Aft On. Ok, now select FSUIPC 8 bit U for the Fuel Left Aft On setting. You ll notice that there is an extra space available now. Put the necessary offset in this box so for our example it will be offset 56B1. Attention, this is not enough information for ProSim. It also needs to now the bit number. We can put it in the box this way: 0x56B1.2 so it is 0x56B1(dot)2 Well, that s all for the switch.

In this example, it is 56B0 Bit 2. Again, we can enter it in the bow like this: 0x56B0.

4 Now select the Indicators tab and scroll down to the Fuel Left Aft LP setting. Just like in the switch section, select U Bit 8 and enter the value of the Fuel Left Aft Low Pressure offset. In this example, it is 56B0 Bit 2. Again, we can enter it in the bow like this: 0x56B0.2 so it is 0x56B0(dot)2 Now press OK to confirm and that s all for the ProSim software. You see not so difficult at all. Ok, now lets move on to the InterfaceIT software. Startup the software. Your interface card should be recognized by the software.

The best is to turn on the option to locate the input mode. Now turn on the Aft 1 Fuel pump on your overhead panel and locate the switch in the InterfaceIT software.

Now you can see that I programmed two actions for this switch. The names are not important. The most important part here are the arrows pointing up and down. In my case here action 3 is executed when I turn the switch down.

6 Now you have two options. You can program the switch by selecting the Project Magenta function from a list and assign the bit action or you can download a set of xml files where those functions already have been programmed. I noticed that not every functions of the overhead panel is listed in this downloadable list so I start with the most difficult way to do it. Right-click on the name of the switch you want to program. Select Add input action Update pmsystems On/Down. You now can see this screen:

To see more details of this function, press Detail. Here you can find the PM offset. 56B1 bit 2.

7 If you start programming, the right screen will be empty. Now open the list by clicking on the icon in the right screen. Now you can search for the function you need for the switch. In our example it is Aft1Pump. To see more details of this function, press Detail. Here you can find the PM offset. 56B1 bit 2. Select the function and you come back in the previous screen. Now you can set what needs to be done when the switch is moved down. In our example it need to set the bit so ProSim knows that the function is activated.

8 The first action has been programmed. Now we do the same for the up-movement of the switch. The only difference now is that we need to clear the bit. That s all for the switch actions.

In our example it will be Aft1PumpFault. Once selected, the switch and indicator is programmed.

9 Now we can program the indicator. Select the indicator of the fuel pump. Again right-click on the name of the indicator and proceed as with the switch, but select output action. Select the function in the right screen. In our example it will be Aft1PumpFault. Once selected, the switch and indicator is programmed. You can now save the configuration and test both InterfaceIT and ProSim737. Another way to program the switches and indicators I Told before that there is another way to program the switches and indicators. To do this, we need to start by downloading the import files. The next window will open.

Select a download path where you can put all the files you will download. Next select the B737NG Tab. Here you will find all functions of project magenta.

Select all the files and push on download. All the files will be put in the download path you did choose before. Repeat this action for both input and output files. Ok, we go back to the switch we like to program.

11 Right-click on the switch and select Import configuration. You can choose whether the name of the switch may be overwritten or not. It s your choice. Now you can open the folder where you downloaded the xml files before.

12 For our example, double click on B737NG-I-Aft1Pump. The I after B737NG means that this file is intended to program an input. This is all that has to be done to program the switch. Two actions will be added. The same actions like the one you programmed in the previous method. Now we can continue with the indicator. Again select Import configuration. Now select the output file. For our example we choose B737NG-O-Aft1PumpFault. Notice the O in the script to program an output.

13 All is done. Both switch and indicator is programmed and you can go testing it. Good luck and have fun. Gert.
