1 Release Notes for cswing 2004 Release 2 [Preliminary] cswing 2004 Release 2 contains many new features and improvements. We would like to thank our customers for providing feedback and participating in our beta tests. Almost all of the changes are based on customer suggestions, bug reports and requests. The most significant new feature is the addition of multiple camera support in a special Multiple Camera version of the software. A Single Camera version of cswing 2004 Release 2 is also available. Aside from multiple camera support, the Single Camera and Multiple Camera versions are identical. Another significant new feature is a free read only mode. If, after the free 7-day trial is completed, the software is not activated, it operates in read only mode rather than being fully disabled. This feature is especially helpful for teachers who wish to provide their students CDs of their swings along with a read only version of the software. At this time, our plan is that this will be the last release of the software that is officially supported on Windows 98 and Windows Me. We are soliciting customer feedback on this issue and will take it into consideration when the final decision is made for the next release. New features Auto Start Capture and Live Video: If you right-click on the Capture Button, it will now change from red and black to green and black. Then, left-click the Capture Button to start capture immediately, skipping the Capture dialog box and using the settings from the previous capture setting. You can turn the feature off again by right-clicking the Capture Button once more. Caching to Memory: Provided there is enough free memory (RAM) available, swings are automatically loaded into memory providing better playback performance. This also prolongs laptop battery life because the disk is accessed less often. The cached swing is shared when the same swing is open in multiple windows, maximizing performance and efficiency. The performance increase is especially noticeable when playing back from CD and other slower devices. Check Latest Release: There is a Check Latest Release option on the cswing Help Menu. Clicking Check Latest Release takes you to a special page on the cswing web site which shows the current release. Equalize Swings (Set all open swings to the position of active Swing): If multiple swings are open, clicking the Go to middle button on the video toolbar now sets the position (as indicated on the position time display) of all open swings to that of the swing in the active window.

2 Favorites Toolbar: The favorites toolbar makes allows you in one click to add swings to, and open swings from, your favorites folders. Golfer s Spreadsheet: The golfer s spreadsheet button allows you to save data for a player to an Excel or other compatible spreadsheet program. Latest Captured Swings Folder: The latest captured swings folder on the favorites toolbar makes it easy to locate and open recently captured swings. Magnify: The magnification tool allows you to enlarge a region of your Swing for closer viewing. Magnification options allow you to control zoom factor, size of area magnified, shape of magnified area (square or circle), whether magnification will be outlined and speed of magnification (slower magnification means better image). Multiple Camera Capture: With the Multiple Camera version of the software, you can now capture simultaneously using multiple cameras. There is support for up to eight cameras. For laptops, however, there will in most cases be a practical limit of two or three and for desktops, a practical limit of four. In general, each DV camcorder requires its own FireWire card. Some systems will support two camcorders per card. This is a limitation of how the camcorders coexist on the FireWire bus and has been confirmed with Microsoft as a hardware limitation. Read Only Mode: If, after the free 7-day trial is completed, the software is not activated, it goes into read only mode rather than being fully disabled. There is no charge for operating cswing in read only mode. Screen Capture with Voiceover: Right-click on the Windows Media Button (used to be Windows Media Player Button) at the far right of the Video Toolbar to access Windows Media Encoder 9 for screen capture with voiceover. (WME 9 must be installed and is only compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.) See the WME help file for instructions on using its screen capture feature. Select Sport Or Activity At Start-Up: When you start cswing, a new screen asks you to select a sport or activity from a list of 18 pre-set sports and activities plus any customized sports and activities you have added using the customize feature. Snap Angle: The snap angle tool allows you to easily create a vertical or horizontal line, a multi-line with vertical or horizontal components, a right triangle or triangle with angles, a square, a square grid, a circle or clock drawn using the box method, a curve or swing path with adjacent vertices located on invisible vertical and horizontal lines, or a right angle or multi-angle. Time Lapse: The time lapse feature enables you to display a swing sequence across multiple swing windows in the cswing workspace. This is

3 similar to the display in browser command but has the added feature that you can lock the swings together and step them through the swing. Toggle Slide/Zoom Video: The toggle slide/zoom video button allows you to control the effect of clicking and dragging within the swing window. In slide mode, clicking and dragging advances or rewinds the swing. In zoom mode, clicking and dragging zooms the swing in or out. Clicking and dragging a drawing element such as a line still moves the line. Toggle Click To Play/Pause: Clicking the toggle click to play/pause button enables you play and pause swings by simply clicking in the swing window. This feature can be toggled on and off as desired. Toolbar Locations Menu: A new item on the view menu allows you to change the locations of the general, drawing, video and favorites toolbars. Improvements Activation Process: The activation process and dialog boxes have been improved and the new activation process supports both single and multiple camera versions of the software. (All existing customers will require new license keys.) Active Swing Window: Right-clicking nearly anywhere on the position toolbar when multiple Swing Windows are open rotates the Active Swing Window. The exception is on the Position Counter (see below for more information). Basic/Advanced Drawing Mode: You can now toggle between Basic and Advanced Drawing Mode by right-clicking on any of the Drawing Buttons. You can still toggle by clicking the Basic/Advanced Button if you prefer. Bookmarks: You can now create a highlighted (yellow) bookmark by rightclicking the bookmark on/off button. Previously, you had to press and hold shift, then click the bookmark on/off button to create a highlighted bookmark. Also, you can now go directly to the first or last bookmark by right-clicking the previous or next bookmark. Change Selected Golfer: The Select Golfer dialog box is now larger to allow you to see more of your list at once and there are four new buttons which allow to skip to the alphabetical range in which the Golfer you want to select is located. Golfer s Notebook: You can now create a customized default template and/or sport-specific templates for use with the Golfer s Notebook feature.

4 Live Video with Instant Replay: You can now left-click to stop capture. Previously, you could only stop capture by using the Hit Detector or the space bar. (These options still work.) Measure Swing Speed and Distance Traveled: The Measure dialog box now contains a Copy button that copies the measurement and Swing information to the Windows Clipboard. From there, you can paste the information into the Golfer s Spreadsheet or another application. New Golfer: The Handicap field in the New Golfer dialog now accepts negative numbers (handicaps in polo can be negative). Position Counter: Clicking the position counter on the video toolbar now sets current frame time to This allows you to easily time motions from a particular point. Step Forward/Step Backward: Left-clicking the step forward/step backward buttons still advances or moves back through the swing one frame but now rightclicking these buttons advances or moves back through the swing ten frames. Swing Timer: The Swing Timer dialog box now contains a Copy button that copies the time and Swing information to the Windows Clipboard. From there, you can paste the information into the Golfer s Spreadsheet or another application. Toolbars: The Toolbars can no longer be detached accidentally by dragging the separators or edges or by double-clicking. The Toolbars are also better organized, with more intuitive grouping of the buttons and more space between the groupings. In addition, the Fullscreen Toolbar now contains more commands and is also better organized. Major bug fixes Angle measurement bug: Angle measurements are now more accurate. Previously, there was a calculation error because DV pixels are not square. Club list corruption bug: the club list became corrupted sometimes when it was customized. Customizing added garbage characters: sometimes the changes made had extra garbage characters added to the end.

5 Sorting and automatic selection bug: when sports/activities and golfers had lowercase first letters the sort order and automatic selection was incorrect.
