1 End of Life for CLARiiON Array Properties (CAP) Over the past few releases, we have been steadily deprecating selected features of CAP and Release 30 marks our final CAP release. We may choose to update the R30 version of CAP for major regressions in functionality but will otherwise discontinue ALL development, maintenance, and support of this product. We recognize that CAP is a widely adopted utility and it is our intent to make all critical features available elsewhere in order to support releases post R30. We will continue to answer all questions on this forum and the CAP support mailing list. Please refer to this page/document for any information regarding the support and future of specific features within CAP. For the majority of use cases, we encourage you to use the R31 version of Unisphere Service Manager (USM) though R30 CAP will remain available for use with older releases. We have added a presentation with detailed instructions on how to use USM and related tools below. We are planning to extend and improve these features over the next few releases in order to fully cover the remaining gaps. As described in the matrix below and presentation attached, much of the main CAP functionality has been moved into the Unisphere Service Manager (USM) System Reports Wizard. The System Reports Wizard will allow any user, both customers and Service personnel, to generate or view storage system configuration files with the ability to output both HTML and/or Excel formatted reports. The System Reports Wizard is even available offline with the ability to view a previously generated configuration file and output the file to HTML and/or Excel formats. The System Reports Wizards takes the CAP reporting functionality that was only available to Service personnel and allows customers access to the valuable reporting information in one consolidated interface. Click on Diagnostic Tools & Utilities 6. Click on CAP2 7. Click on the file link to download and install Does CAP work on Windows 7 or I am experiencing issues with CAP on Windows 7? CAP is not officially supported on Windows 7. A workaround to some issues is to right click on CLARiiON Array Properties.exe, or a shortcut, and select Run as administrator. Please note, this is not a definite fix to all issues possibly encountered with running CAP on Windows 7 but it has been seen to correct some problems.

3 Can a customer download CAP or can I give a customer CAP? CAP is a Service only tool and not meant for external distribution to customers. The Systems Report Wizard in the Unisphere Service Manager (USM) is available for customers and contains almost all the customer desired reporting functionality once only available in CAP. We ask that you promote the Systems Reporting Wizard to customers if they do request that functionality. Where is the Cap2Excel.exe located with the R30 version of CAP? The Cap2CCPF folder and contents was not included with the CAP2 install bundle and is a known issue. As of 12/9/2010 the CAP2 install bundle has been replaced with a zip file containing both CAP2 and the files required for creating Excel output. Download the.zip file, extract the contents, install CAP2 if not already installed, and place the cap2ccpf folder in C:/Program Files/EMC/CAP2 (C:/Program Files (x86)/emc/cap2 for 64 bit systems). The Cap2Excel.exe will be located in the Cap2ccpf folder and the save to Excel format will be restored. What tool do I use to view the configuration of the Storage System depending on the Storage System FLARE version? For storage systems running FLARE version R28 and later should use the Unisphere Service Manager (USM) System Reports Wizard to generate, view and convert the system configuration file to Excel format. For storage systems running FLARE version R14 through R26 use CAP to view the system configuration. What tool do I use to convert the configuration file to Excel depending on the Storage System FLARE version? For storage systems running FLARE version R28 and later should use the Unisphere Service Manager (USM) System Reports Wizard to generate, view and convert the system configuration file to Excel format. Another conversion option is to use the ArrayConfigToXLS.js script located in C:\Program Files\EMC\ServiceManager. Refer to the attached slides for additional information on how to run the script. For storage systems running FLARE version R14 through R26 use CAP to generate a report and click File > Save As to convert it into an Excel format. For previously generated reports you can run the Cap2Excel.exe located in C:\Program Files\EMC\CAP2\Cap2ccpf directory to convert the file to Excel format. What Versions of FLARE Create the ArrayConfig.xml When an SPCollect is Gathered? The ArrayConfig.xml is created as part of the SPCollect script on R28 and greater storage systems. What versions of FLARE does CAP support? CAP is supports FLARE versions R14 through R30. What do I do if my version of FLARE or my storage system is not supported? Refer to the CAP EOL Matrix located in this document that describes where each of the CAP features has been moved to. Those new locations will support later versions of FLARE not supported by CAP Does CAP support VNX systems? CAP will not support VNX Storage Systems. What do I use for Conversion Readiness Checker (CRC)? At this time CAP still is the only location for the CRC. The CRC will be moved into the USM in the near future.

15 Naviseccli Arrayconfig capture The arrayconfig -capture command queries the storage system for its configuration information. When issued, the command will capture a storage system s essential configuration data. Software installed in the storage system (name of the software, revision, etc.) Physical configuration of the storage system (storage processors, disks, enclosures, etc.), but not rack location Logical configuration of the storage system (RAID groups, LUNs, Storage Groups, Clones, Snapviews, Mirrors). You must have a user account on the storage system on which you want to execute the command.
