3 FastLane Central Office Upgrade Instructions Welcome to FastLane Central Office. The following instructions are designed to help you upgrade your computer to the newest FastLane Central Office software. The information in this document is divided into the following sections: Before you upgrade Backing up a FastLane Central Office database Upgrading FastLane Central Office NOTE: Close all programs before continuing with the upgrade process. Make sure you have your registration information available before beginning the FastLane upgrade process. Before you upgrade IMPORTANT As a precautionary measure, make sure you complete both of the items listed below before you upgrade. Communicate all data from all sites Back up all data Any data that has not been communicated to the Central Office prior to upgrading may not communicate after the upgrade. Backing up a FastLane Central Office database As with any data-driven application, making regular backup files of your FastLane database is highly recommended. Complete the following steps to back up your central office database. To back up a FastLane Central Office database: 1. Start FastLane Central Office and log on. 2. Click the System Setup button on the Main Menu screen. 3. Click the System Settings button on the System Setup screen. 4. Select the Other Settings tab. 5. Click the Backup Data button. A message will display indicating that the backup process is complete. 6. Click the OK button to close the message. 7. Click the Exit button to close the System Settings screen. 8. Click the Main Menu button to return to the Main Menu screen. 9. Click the Exit/Logout button to close the application. 10. Click the Yes button to finish closing FastLane Central Office. 4 Upgrading FastLane Central Office Once you have communicated and backed up your data and updated MDAC and MSDE, you can upgrade the FastLane Central Office software. Complete the following task to perform the software upgrade. To upgrade FastLane Central Office: 1. Acquire the FastLane upgrade file, Setup.exe, as you normally would (either by FTP site or upgrade CD). 2. Open the FastLane folder. 3. To begin the upgrade process, double-click the upgrade file, Setup.exe. The following screen will appear: 4. Click the Next button to continue. The License Agreement window will display. It is important that you read the agreement. 5. Type your information in the acknowledgement boxes and click the OK button. (Optional) The Beta Agreement screen displays if this is a beta release upgrade. If not, go to the next step. 2 FASTLANE CENTRAL OFFICE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

5 6. Read the agreement and choose I Agree. 7. Click Continue. The Readme File window will display. 8. (Optional) Click View Release Notes to read the new features, enhancements, and fixed issues in this release. 9. Click the Next button to continue. When the Destination Location window displays, verify the installation destination, or browse to the correct location. 10. Click the Next button to continue. 6 The Start Installation window will display. 11. Click the Next button to continue. The upgrade process will begin copying files to your computer. The following screen will display, showing the progress of the installation: NOTE: During the installation, you may be prompted to remove an unused file. If a message displays, click No. If the Windows Installer starts and prompts you for a Windows CD, click Cancel. When the files finish copying, the Product Registration and Setup Validation window will display. 12. Verify the information in the Customer Name and Registration Code fields is correct. 4 FASTLANE CENTRAL OFFICE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

7 NOTE: If the registration information does not automatically appear in the appropriate fields, re-enter the codes from your information. Make sure you start VBOSS before starting FastLane to ensure that the registration information is synchronized. 13. Click the Next button to continue. 14. Verify the correct registration information displays in green on the Product Registration and Setup Validation window as it appears on the Registration form. 15. Click the Next button to continue. 16. To complete the product registration, click the Finish button. 17. To complete the upgrade, click the Finish button.
