4 Introduction: Introduction: Today exists many web-browsers, some of then with different behaviours in what is related with some of Gestix's essentials funcionalities, most specifically document's printing. We have searched for a web browser well suited for the Gestix's documents printing and simultaneously would be available to Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems. The Opera web browser meet this conditions and presents a pleasant and simple user interface, so this guide have the necessary steps to install it and to configure it on both most common systems: Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh. 5 Windows Installation Download the install fi le: You can download Opera's installation file on the website To obtain the version used on this guide use the following adress (Internet connection required) (copy and paste in the adress bar of your currently web-browser andthe download will automatically begin) Double-click on the downloaded file: Choose your language andthen click ok Wait until the next window appears Modelos de Impresso 3

7 Select Default and click Next Click on install Wait until the next window appears. Modelos de Impresso 5

8 Click on Finish. The next windows will pop-up: If you choose Yes,it means that when you click on the Gestix icon in your desktop, the Gestix will open with Opera instead of your old web browser. And it will also replace your old web-browser when you go on the internet. Modelos de Impresso 6

9 If you choose No, you can use Opera only for Gestix, for that is necessary to open Opera instead of Gestix and type the following adress on Opera's adress bar: (if Gestix is locally installed, if installed in a server, please indicate the respective adress) Note : You can add this adress to your favorites, and then you just have to go on the Favorites menu and click ongestix: You can also create a desktop shortcut by following the next steps: 1. Click on a empty space of your desktop and choose New, Shortcut. 2. The next window will show up. Modelos de Impresso 7

10 Choose browse, and choose the Opera application (C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe) and click next to give it a name and then finish. 3. In your desktop is now the shortcut you just created. Click in it with your right button and choose properties. Modelos de Impresso 8

11 On the tab shortcut, in destiny choose Gestix location, like in the following example: C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe" Click Ok. 4. If you want, you can change the shortcut icon and insert Gestix's icon going to where it is installed. (c:\programs\gestix). 5. Now each time you want to open Gestix, you just have to click twice on the shortcut that you have just created and it will automatically open Gestix with Opera. Modelos de Impresso 9

12 Gestix confi guration on Windows You just have to open Opera and go on File,Printing Options and put the following configuration: Empty Opera's cache on Windows Go to Tools, preferences, advanced, choose browsing history on the left side and click on empty now. Modelos de Impresso 10

13 Conclusion On this way users can continue using their usual web-browser to their web exploration, and use one independent web-browser to Gestix, so this way one won't interfere with the other. Modelos de Impresso 11

14 Mac OS-X installation Mac OS-X installation Download the install fi le You can download Opera's installation file on the website To obtain the version used on this guide use the following adress (Internet connection required) (copy and paste in the adress bar of your currently web-browser andthe download will automatically begin) Double-click on the downloaded file: Drag the Opera to the Applications folder as it is shown in the picture and wait the installation. Go to Application and click twice on Opera. Now you need to create a shrotcut on your desktop following the next steps; Modelos de Impresso 12

15 Mac OS-X installation 1. OpenOpera and insert Gestix adress ( and putting the mouse over the Gestix tab drag it to your desktop like in the next picture: 2. Click on the shortcut with your right button andchoose Get Info and in the tab open with... choose Opera. 3. In the end close all the windows and click on the shortcut to see if it is functional. See if the web-browser that opens is Opera and if the starting page is Gestix. Modelos de Impresso 13

16 Mac OS-X installation Opera's confi guration on Mac Open Opera and go to File, and click on Print. You will see the following window: On Copies & Pages choose Opera. Modelos de Impresso 14

17 Mac OS-X installation Unchoose Headers and Footers. Empty Opera's cache on Mac Open Opera and go to tools, erase private data, details,unchoose all the options except erase all the cache, click on details agains and erase. Conclusion On this way users can continue using their usual web-browser to their web exploration, and use one independent web-browser to Gestix, so this way one won't interfere with the other.
