5 About this document This guide describes the contents of Service Pack 6 and how to install Service Pack 6 on BaanERP 5.0c. This installation guide is intended for BaanERP 5.0c installers and system administrators. This guide consists of the following chapters:! Chapter 1, Introduction, briefly describes Service Pack 6 for BaanERP 5.0c.! Chapter 2, To install the Service Pack, describes how to install Service Pack 6. iii

7 1 Introduction Service Pack 6 for BaanERP 5.0c is intended for users of BaanERP 5.0c and for localization users of BaanERP 5.0c. You can only use this Service Pack to upgrade existing installations. Service Pack 6 contains all bug fixes up to March 19, Moreover, it contains a number of functional enhancements. A description of the functional enhancements can be found in Release Notes for Baan ERP 5.0c Service Pack 6 (P3259A US). Finally, Service Pack 6 contains an update of the Baan Tools. The Baan Tools update mainly concerns the introduction of Webtop. More details about the Webtop product can be found in Installation and Configuration Guide for Webtop 1.0 (U7608B US). Use the Product Maintenance and Control (PMC) tool to install Service Pack 6 on UNIX, Windows NT, or on AS400 systems. This tool was included in the initial master tape/cd-rom. You can use the tool to install individual solutions that you can download from the Baan Global Support Web site, or to install Service Packs. Service Pack 6 is available for both the standard BaanERP 5.0c software and for BaanERP 5.0c localizations. Service Pack 6 includes the following languages:! Dutch.! English.! German. The availability of other languages is published at a later stage on the Baan Support Web site. Availability of these translations are published under solution number

8 Introduction Contents The Service Pack CD-ROM contains the following files and folders:! BaanERP_SP6 This folder contains all the that are needed to update the Baan-4GL applications. The folder contains following files: spb50c_6stnd. PMC dump containing fixes for the standard software. spb50c_6bgl0. PMC dump containing fixes for BaanERP 5.0c localizations. sp7.1att_6. PMC dump containing fixes for Tools 7.1a. BaanERP_SP6. This zip file contains miscellaneous components like GIF files, tools components etc. post_sp6. A PMC collection containing 12 individual PMC solutions for Tools 7.1a. These solutions must be installed on top of Service Pack 6.! BaanERP_SP6_WindowsHelp This folder contains an update of the Baan Windows Help. The folder contains following files: winhelp_sp06.hlp_<language>. This dump contains the Windows Help for BaanERP 5.0c Service Pack 6. winhelp_bgl0.hlp_<language>. This dump contains the Windows Help for Service Pack 6 of BaanERP 5.0c localizations. (<language> represents the language code. 1= Dutch, 2 = US-English, 3 = German)! BaanERP_SP6_XMLHelp_for_Webtop1.0 This folder contains the XML variant of the Baan Help. This Help variant is needed when you start working with Webtop. The folder contains following files: <language>_b50c_sp6 This dump contains the XML Help for BaanERP 5.0c Service Pack

9 Introduction <language>_b50cbgl0_sp6 This dump contains the XML Help for Service Pack 6 of BaanERP 5.0c localizations. (<language> represents the language code. NL= Dutch, EN = US-English, DE = German)! ODM This folder contains an update for the Baan Object Data Management (ODM) product. The folder contains following files: BaanODMClient_2_02_005 This zip file contains the client-side software for Baan ODM. Previous shipments of this product appeared to contain corrupt files. ODM_NL_dumps This zip file contains the Dutch translation of the data needed to initialize ODM. Previous releases only contained an English version.! AS This zip file contains an update for the MS Project integration that is based on the Baan Automation Server middleware.! BaanERP_SP6_Demo_fst910_Crystal This zip file contains demo company 910 to use for Financial Statement Reporting in Baan Finance together with Crystal Enterprise Solution for Baan.! BaanERP_SP6_MSOffice_Integration This zip file contains an update of the MS Office integration. In this update, the setup is made uniform for template designers and end users. Moreover, the base templates can now be installed directly onto the client. Finally, the language independence of the user interface has been optimized. The integration is still only available in US English.! SP6_OW This zip file contains the client-side software for the MS Project integration that is based on the Baan OpenWorld middleware! VERSION.txt. A text file containing the identification of the CD-ROM. 1-3

10 Introduction The documentation CD-ROM, delivered separately, contains the Service Pack documentation, and includes the following files:! 11 2 To install the Service Pack Pre-installation requirements Service Pack 6 for BaanERP 5.0c is intended for users of standard BaanERP 5.0c and for users of localizations for BaanERP 5.0c. You can only use Service Pack 6 to upgrade existing installations. You must have Service Pack 5 for BaanERP 5.0c installed before you can install Service Pack 6. The installation instructions for porting set 7.1c can be found in document U7592B US. 2-1

12 To install the Service Pack To install the Service Pack Before you install the Service Pack 6, first check if any last minute information is available about the installation of Service Pack 6. You can find this information on the Baan Global Support Web site under solution number To install Service Pack 6 for Baan ERP 5.0c, take the following steps: 1 UNIX and AS400 users must first copy all files from the Service Pack 6 medium to a temporary directory on the UNIX / AS400 system. The following zip files must be extracted be fore they are copied: BaanERP_SP6 (in the BaanERP_SP6 folder) ODM_NL_dumps (in the ODM folder) The extracted components must be transferred to the UNIX / AS400 system. When you copy the files, you must use a transfer protocol in binary mode. 2 Scan the PMC dumps (present in the BaanERP_SP6 folder) for the standard software: spb50c_6stnd and sp7.1att_6. In addition, if you use localizations for BaanERP 5.0c, you must scan the PMC dump for localizations: spb50c_6bgl0. Scan the PMC dumps through the Scan Solution/Patch file (ttpmc2200s000) session. Make sure that you use the correct base VRC in PMC during the installation process for each patch file. The following table provides an overview: PMC dumps Patch file spb50c_6stnd sp7.1att_6 spb50c_6bgl0 Base VRC B50_c 7.1_a_tt B50L_c_bgl0 3 Check and install the sp7.1att_6 patch with the Process Patches (ttpmc2102m000) session. 2-2

13 To install the Service Pack 4 Scan the post_sp6 file by means of the Scan Solution/Patch file (ttpmc2200s000) session. This will make the solutions , , , , , , , , , , and available. Then, install the solutions by means of the Process Solutions (ttpmc2101m000) session. It is sufficient to process the solutions , , , and with this session. Because of the dependency mechanism of PMC, the other solutions will be processed automatically. NOTE NOTE During the installation of post_sp6, you can receive error messages related to the print functionality of the installation process. You can ignore these messages. 5 Run the Create Runtime Data Dictionary for Tools (ttadv5213m000) session for all package combinations. Select the Also Dump Data Definitions check box. 6 Exit and restart the bshell. 7 Check and install the spb50c_6stnd patch with the Process Patches (ttpmc2102m000) session. Because of a co-requisite relationship, the dump for localizations (spb50c_6bgl0), is automatically installed when you install the standard software spb50c_6stnd 8 Manually move the contents of the BaanERP_SP6 zip file (present in the BaanERP_SP6 folder) to the $BSE directory on your system. Make sure that the components get the same permissions they had before. 9 Use the database s management tools or the command line interface (not through Baan's Database Management tools) to check whether the database contains created database files of tables ttaad073, ttaad074, ttaad321 and ttaad330 in company 0. Use these tools to delete the files, if available. Also, check the existence of database files of table ttaad502 in company 0 and in other companies. Delete these files as described earlier. 2-3

14 To install the Service Pack 10 Run the Create Runtime Data Dictionary (ttadv5210m000) session for all package combinations. Select all the check boxes to reconfigure the tables, because some tables are modified for bug fixing. 11 Exit and restart the bshell. 12 In the Menu Browser, double-click BaanERP Tools Commercial Functions Miscellaneous, and run the Patch Objects after Error Solving (ttiex3226m000) session. After you start this session, accept the full range and click Patch. The patch process starts. 13 In the Menu Browser, double-click BaanERP Tools Database Management Miscellaneous, and run the Create Tables (ttaad4230m000) session. After you start this session, accept the full range and click Create. The session then physically creates new tables that were added to this Service Pack. 14 Steps 14, 15, and 16 describe the installation of the updated Windows Help. In the Menu Browser, double-click BaanERP Tools Software Installation Miscellaneous, and run the Import Patch (ttiex1284m000) session. After you start this session, fill in the various fields as shown in the following figure, and click Import. For localizations, repeat the same procedure for the winhelp_bgl0.hlp_<language> dump. After the import, two new Help groups are present in your environment. The Help group for the standard software is named b50csp06, and for localizations, the standard software us named b5lcbgl6. 2-4

15 To install the Service Pack NOTE The Help files can be found in the BaanERP_SP6_WindowsHelp folder on the CD-ROM. Depending on which language(s) you are using, one (or more) of the following Help files must be imported: winhelp_sp06.hlp_1 (Dutch) winhelp_sp06.hlp_2 (US English) winhelp_sp06.hlp_3 (German) If you use localizations, the following Help files must be imported as well: winhelp_bgl0.hlp_1 (Dutch) winhelp_bgl0.hlp_2 (US English) winhelp_bgl0.hlp_3 (German) The installation of the Windows Help of Service Pack 6 overwrites the Windows Help of Service Pack 5. The Windows Help of Service Pack 5 is no longer available. 15 To view the updated Windows Help, and to change the Help group that is linked to your user data template, on the Menu Browser, double-click BaanERP Tools User Management Authorization Management System Definition of Templates Miscellaneous, and start the User Data Template (ttams1110m000) session. In the Windows Help File field, select the appropriate Help group, as listed in Step 14. After you make the changes, on the Specific menu, click Convert Changes To Runtime DD. 16 Download the Help files. Start the Help Groups (ttadv8540m000) session, which lists the available Help groups. Select the Help group that corresponds to your software version. On the Specific menu, click Download Help Files. Baan copies the Help files to a subfolder of the current Baan\bw..\help folder on your client. The folder name is the same as the Help group name. If the folder does not exist, the folder is automatically created. The Help files download can take some time. Baan displays a message for each of the Help files that cannot be found. To continue the download of the next Help file, click OK in the message box. 2-5

16 To install the Service Pack Additional installations (MS Project integration based on BAS) NOTE If you use the MS Project integration that is based on the Baan Automation Server (BAS) middleware technology, the following additional client installation instructions apply: For a successful installation, you must have Microsoft Project installed. 1 Double-click the AS.zip file and write the contents to a temporary AS folder on the client by clicking Extract. 2 Run setup.exe from the AS directory you just created on your client. 3 Follow the instructions provided by the setup program. Additional installations (MS Project integration based on Open World) NOTE If you use the MS Project integration that is based on the Baan Open World middleware technology, the following additional client installation instructions apply: For a successful installation, you must have Microsoft Project installed. 1 Double-click the file SP6_OW.zip and write the contents to a temporary SP6_OW folder on the client by clicking Extract. 2 Run setup.exe from the SP6_OW folder on your client, which you just created. 3 Follow the instructions provided by the setup program. Additional installations (MS Office integration) If you use the MS Office integration, then please update this integration. The software can be found in the BaanERP_SP6_MSOffice_Integration.zip file. 1 Double-click the file BaanERP_SP6_MSOffice_Integration.zip and write the contents to a temporary folder on the client by clicking Extract. 2 Follow the installation instructions like described in the U7193C US document. This document is present in the zip file. 2-6

17 To install the Service Pack Additional installations (BaanODM client) Files for the BaanODM installation can be found in the ODM folder. In the past Baan got complaints that earlier shipments of the client side part of BaanODM contained corrupt files. For this reason this piece of software is now included again in the file BaanODMClient_2_02_005.zip. There are no changes compared to earlier shipments. In case you were able to install earlier shipments, you can skip this section. Additional installations (BaanODM initial setup) Files for the BaanODM installation can be found in the ODM folder. Previously, the initial setup data for ODM were only available in US English. Service Pack 6 contains the Dutch translation of this data. Installation must be carried out in the following way: 1 Move the extracted components of the ODM_NL_dumps zip file to a temporary folder on the BaanERP server. 2 If you want to retain your US English data set (which is recommended), create a new company number for each new ODM working language. This is necessary because the ODM setup data can only exist in one language per company number. In case you want to overwrite the US English ODM data, then proceed with step 4. 3 Create tables in the new company for at least the packages dm and as. Tables are created by means of the Create Tables (ttaad4230m000) session. 4 Import the data by using the Import System Data (dmsys2210m000) session. Enter the name of the temporary directory in this session. 5 To check if the validation process works fine, restart the bshell and check if you can create a new document type in the Document Types (dmdoc2510m000) session. Then link a new document to that document type using the Documents (dmdoc1510m000) session. Additional installations (EDI defaults) If you use the EDI module, you can download and install the latest EDI defaults. Defaults for the X12 standard can be found on the following site: ftp://ftp.baan.com/public/customer.specific/baanerp_edi 2-7

18 To install the Service Pack Defaults for the BEMIS standard can be found at PMC service pack source codes Individual solutions and service packs that Baan creates and installs through the PMC tool include the source code of modified components in the dumps. However, the source code of program scripts, libraries, and functions are only installed if a previous version of the source code of the component exists in the environment in which the solution of the service pack is installed. For example, if solution is made in program script tdsls4101, the PMC dump for this solution contains the program script source and the program object. This solution is installed at system X in the update VRC B50U_c_stnd. Before you install the program script source, the PMC tool checks whether the program script source exists in the update VRC, or in a VRC that is in the derived-from structure for the update VRC. If the program script source of tdsls4101 already exists, the new program script source and the program object are installed from the solution's PMC dump. If the program script source is not found, only the program object is installed. Before you begin the installation of an individual solution or Service Pack through PMC, Baan partners, or Baan, customers who need the source code must make sure that the source exists in the environment in which the individual solutions or service packs are installed. 2-8
