1 Dear Friends, Matrix Technical Support Mailer - 53 Configuring Backup in SATATYA DVR This mailer provides information how to take backup from SATATYA DVR available at different resources along with the configurations flow to run Backup file. Introduction: Backup is a set of copied data and it is stored for future use in case the original data gets lost or damaged. Backup of critical data is kept for security and redundancy purpose. There are two types of Backup option available in SATATYA DVR 1. Schedule Backup 2. Manual Backup SATATYA DVR BACKUP Configuration 1. Schedule Backup 2. Manual Backup a) Schedule Backup Configuration b) Run Schedule Backup File (AVS) c) Manual Backup Configuration d) Run Manual Backup File (NATIV/AVI) i) Webclient DVR Backup NATIV: CMS i) Webclient Player Webclient & DVR Backup ii) VGA ii) VGA Player AVI: All Media Player

2 Description: 1. Schedule Backup: SATATYA DVR provides user to take backup of recorded files at predefined time on USB drive and FTP location. Schedule Backup can be taken from VGA, CVBS i.e. Local and Web client. a) Configuring schedule backup : i. Web client configuration: 1. Open DVR Web-client Log in to the DVR web-client as System Administrator mode. Go to Device configuration. Select Backup from Advanced Settings. Backup management window will open.

3 2. Enable scheduled backup option to activate this function. 3. There are two options available for Backup: USB storage device FTP Server For schedule Back up user can configure any one location at a time 4. In case of USB storage device option, connect USB drive in port available in DVR.

4 5. User needs to define synchronization date from which DVR will start taking backup. 6. For FTP server option define available parameters. FTP server i.e. path for FTP location (e.g. ftp:// )

5 7. Specify the Login credentials like Username and Password for FTP.

6 8. Define Port and directory path for storage. For FTP, user can test the connection using Test Connection option. 8. Click on save button. It will automatically take backup on selected location as per defined schedule. (Duration of the Day)

7 In this way user can get scheduled backup through Web Client. ii. VGA Configuration: 1. Open Menu button as shown below. This will open a new menu list. 2. Here click on advanced settings. This will open a new window.

8 3. From advanced settings select Backup option. 4. This will open a new window. 5. There are two options available in this location: USB storage device FTP Server

9 Here configuration parameters are same as explained earlier in web client configuration. b) How to run scheduled backup file: Scheduled backup file has AVS (NATIVE) type. These AVS files can be played in DVR Backup player. 1. To run AVS file open DVR Backup player.

10 Here select folder of Backup file of provided Start and End Date. Now, click on Show All option. It will provide all files list. Select particular file from available list and select channel to view backup file.

11 Here user can play the backup file with media options. This file can also be played in SATATYA DVR BACKUP MANAGER.

12 2. Manual Backup: SATATYA DVR offers user to take backup of recorded files manually too. Manual Backup can be taken from Web client and VGA. c) Configuring Manual Backup : i. Web client configuration: 1. Open DVR Webclient Log in to the DVR Web client as System Administrator. Go to Playback option and a new window will open. Playback Playback window has different types of filters to select recorded files.

13 Using search option user can select particular recorded file. In playback window select start and end date with time to view scheduled recorded file. User can also select particular recorded file of particular channel using Type and channel filter. Click on search option it will show entire list of recorded files. Click on Search button Select any file and click on download option.

14 Download Using the download button as shown, user can start to download and this downloaded file contains (.mxs) extension.

15 Start Download By default this file will be stored at location C:\MatrixDVR\Download Here in Download folder 00_1b_09_01_8b_0b folder will be created where downloaded files will be stored.

16 In this way user gets manual backup from web client. ii. VGA configuration: 1. To access manual backup click on menu. It will open a new menu list. Select manual backup option. This will open a new window. 1. Here first select Backup option. For manual backup two options are available: FTP and USB.

17 2. For USB, format option is available to format or initialize external USB device. 3. For Backup file two formats are available. NATIVE: This type of files is only meant to be played on SATATYA DVR. AVI (Audio Video Interleave): This type of files can be played on Windows Media Player and other players which supports.avi format. 4. For Manual Backup user can define search criteria in terms of Date and Time; then different recorded files will be available in the Record list grid.

18 5. Using Type filter, user can filter different types of recorded file in the Record list grid for manual backup. There are five different types of search filters available: 1. All: It will provide all types of recording file. 2. COSEC: It will provide COSEC related recorded file. 3. Alarm: It will provide alarm based recorded file. 4. Manual: It will provide manually recorded file. 5. Normal: It will provide general recorded file. User can select any one of the given filter type to get recording file list.

19 6. Channel option provides selection for different channels. Channel option is one type of filter by which user can get recorded file of only selected camera. 6. Click on search button and a new window will open i.e. Recorded list grid. It will display recorded file list with time and date as per filter configuration in manual backup page.

20 8. To take Backup of particular recorded file, select check box available against the file name. 9. After that click on start button and system will automatically take backup of selected file on USB device. On VGA user can directly take complete backup of Configuration in USB using Backup/ Restore option. Select Backup/Restore option from menu. It will show a new window. In Action bar, user will get Backup option and must click on Start button to take Backup. d) How to run Manual backup file: Manual backup files are of two type: NATIVE(AVS File/.MXS File) AVI

21 Manual backup from Web Client contains NATIVE (.MXS) file type..mxs file can be played in DVR Web client and SATATYA CMS. For DVR Web client: 1. Open DVR Web-client Log in to the DVR web-client as System Administrator. Go to Playback option and new window will open. Select local playback file option and search file to play. Playback Menu Select Local Playback A new window will open to select a file.

22 Click on open button so that recorded file will be automatically played on selected channel of web client screen. For SATATYA CMS: 1. Open SATATYA CMS. 2. Click on Playback search button.

23 Please Note: To play a backup file of any device in SATATYA CMS, that device must be added in SATATYA CMS. Select Playback option and click on search button. It will show three options: Search local file Convert To AVI Backup Import Select search local file option ;a new window will open.

24 Here select particular file and click on open button.

25 It will automatically play the file on selected channel of SATATYA CMS screen. In this way user can play.mxs File in webclient as well as in SATATYA CMS. Manual Backup from VGA has two types of files: NATIVE AVI User can get any backup file by selecting any of the file formats in manual backup option. In VGA NATIV file is AVS File. These AVS files can be played in DVR Backup player and its configuration is same as explained earlier in how to run schedule backup. AVI File is standard file and it can be played in any Media Player which supports AVI extensions.
