1 The following sections describe the new PACS features and functionality for this release. January 18, 2013 Release Stabilization This new release is a stabilized version of 7.5 that contains all the new features provided in previous versions of 7.5 as well as version This version has been streamlined to ensure that NovaPACS is working better than ever. Server Lite Viewer An issue with the Lite Viewer not displaying images on NovaPro has been fixed. Printing Images An issue with images printing with an incorrect aspect ratio has been fixed. Saving Images An issue with images being overwritten if multiple images in a series have the same instance number has been fixed. November 1, 2012 Release Admin Console Delete Images Permission An issue with the delete images permission for Technologists has been fixed. Mobile Rad Mobile Rad ipad Application Users can now access the MobileRad ipad app to view and manipulate diagnostic-quality images and view diagnostic reports for patients. Partial PID Searching An issue with searching in the Mobile Rad app using partial patient identification numbers has been fixed. February 27,

2 Server Auto Routing Multi-Modality Studies All series in a multi-modality study will now be routed if one series matches the route rule. This is especially helpful for studies with non-image files such as Structured Reports (SRs) that should be routed with a study that would normally have rules set by modality. Long-Term (Offsite) Archive Storage and Retrieval Studies can now be stored and retrieved from third party DICOM systems. Studies will be stored to an LTA (long term archive) by the Archive Service. Admins will configure the LTA on the Archive Tab of the Admin Console. Study files will be retrieved by the LTA through the ArchiveService, if the files cannot be found in the local archives. Cataloged studies related to recently received studies will be pre-fetched (retrieved before the procedure time). If a newly installed PACS does not have any LTAs to configure, the system will configure default LTAs for Novarad High Speed and DICOM (added to the database). For upgrades (from versions and earlier), the system will convert the Offsite Backup settings to LTA settings. Viewer Patient CD Labels Can Now Contain PID Patient CDs can now display the Patient ID as a label option. Note: Contact support to have this feature enabled. PR Annotations from 3 rd Party Systems An issue with PR Annotations sent from third party systems has been fixed. Previously Annotated Images An issue with annotating previously annotated and closed images has been fixed. Prior Study Opening with Current Study An issue with the Viewer opening the most relevant prior study has been fixed. February 27,

3 September 13, 2012 Release Auto Window/Level Auto Window/Level Default Settings for Modalities The default auto window/level values for certain modalities have been fixed. Auto Window/Level Function Improved The Auto W/L functionality in the Viewer has been improved. The Viewer's Auto Window/Level functionality now assesses the supplied window/level values from the database, from the DICOM file, or from the Viewer settings. Then the Viewer calculates optimum window/level settings separately and compares the calculated values to the supplied values. If there are major discrepancies, the Viewer will ignore the supplied values and use the calculated values instead. If users do not want the auto window/level functionality to override the supplied window/level values, they can select the "Use DICOM Values" option in the Auto WL tab of the Study Browser's Settings Menu. This option will bypass the Viewer calculating its own window/level values and comparing them against the supplied values. Instead, the image(s) will be displayed using only the supplied values. If the user selects the Use DICOM Values option, and there are no supplied window/level values, the Viewer will calculate the window/level values to use. If the Use DICOM Values option is selected, and the supplied values are not optimum, the image(s) may display with poor quality because the Viewer will not calculate its own window/level values according to the setting. Auto Window/Level Values An issue with the Auto Window/Level values when not using the Use DICOM Values option has been fixed. 4 Dictation Saving Dictation to a File Improved The process of saving a dictation to a file now has fewer steps to be more efficient. Mobile MobileRad Radiologist Viewer ipad App Users can now access the MobileRad ipad app to view and manipulate diagnostic-quality images and view diagnostic reports for patients. The MobileRad ipad application allows users to connect directly to a PACS server using an SSL secured connection over the internet. Images are not cached on the ipad-- information is pulled directly from the NovaPACS server being used. All information is encrypted using 128-bit encryption and is HIPAA compliant. Images are not compressed or lossy; images used in the MobileRad app are JPEG2000 lossless. The MobileRad app will run on any ipad OS of 4.0 or higher, and requires NovaPACS version or higher. The MobileRad app will be available as a link on the Novaweb page. Open Safari and browse to your Novaweb page. Touch the MobileRad Viewer for ipad link to download the app. Users can search for studies and sort results in the Study Browser. Users can view the series within a study, and select a series to open in the Image Viewer. In the Image Viewer, users can scroll through images, change window/level values, measure points on images, view the patient's diagnostic report, change the format (series layout), add and/or change the series viewed, and select from additional window/level options. Users can also magnify, shrink, and pan images in the Image Viewer. NovaScan Cropping Images in NovaScan An issue with cropping images in NovaScan has been fixed. NovaScan Send and Acquire Improved An issue with the Send and Acquire option in NovaScan has been fixed. February 27,

5 Zooming Images in NovaScan An issue with zooming in on images in NovaScan has been fixed. Patient CDs Patient CD Preferences An issue with saving default preferences for Patient CDs has been fixed. Patient CD Reports An issue with viewing reports from Patient CDs has been fixed. Routing Appliance DICOM Routing Appliance Users can now use a DICOM routing appliance to route images from a modality using an SSL connection over the internet. The DICOM routing appliance is typically configured as a 250 GB Linux-based router that uses an SSL connection over the internet to route images directly from a modality to a PACS. The DICOM routing appliance will be limited in storage, number of studies routed, licenses, and modalities used for routing. Server Mobile Device Support The PACS server now supports mobile devices. NovaPACS Express Solution using DICOM Router Users can now use a DICOM routing appliance as part of the NovaPACS Express solution to route images from a modality using an SSL connection over the internet. Users with a NovaPACS Express license can access routed studies using a Web Viewer. The NovaPACS Express DICOM routing appliance is a 250 GB Linux-based PACS routing appliance that uses an SSL connection over the internet to route images from a modality to a location (Novarad) for users to access with a click-once web viewer. 6 Users are limited to routing approximately 20 studies per day (based on a 30 day period) and limited to using 1-2 modalities. NovaPACS Express is also limited to allowing 1 Physician user role and 1 Technologist user role--no Radiologist roles. A distributor can access the NovaPACS Express user interface to configure settings, set up alert information, and view the error log and Queue Status page (to see the routing and failed status of files). The error log will be ed as configured to the set address and cleared. (NovaPACS Express will be setup on site by the customer and configured by the distributor using a NovaPACS Express UI accessed via a URL.) SSL Support for DICOM Communication The PACS now provides a limited SSL support for DICOM communication. The SSL support allows users to use a DICOM routing appliance to route images via an SSL connection over the internet to a PACS. SUV Values from Phillips Modalities The PACS Viewer now calculates SUV values from Phillips modalities based on CNTS units. Viewer Annotations Issue Fixed An issue with annotations appearing on key images instead of an image in the original series has been fixed. Annotating Key Images An issue with annotating on key images has been fixed. Audio Annotations List An issue with the Audio Annotations selection list has been fixed Dictation with an HTTP Datasource An issue with dictation when using an HTTP datasource has been fixed.
