A Public IP address (issued by your ISP) of publically addressable DNS name. Port forwarding configured in the router for each Freedom Server (I.T. technician) The ifreedom app installed on your device

2 L Installing the App To install the app on your device navigate your devices App store on the smart device and search for ifreedom (from Join Computer & Control) or if viewing this document from your device tap on the link below. 3 Device Management Adding a Device To add a device follow the steps below. Input your recorders IP or DNS address Input the correct TCP port for your recorder Input your Username and password Field definition: Site name : (optional) Allows you to add the device to an existing Site, a site is a logical entity representing a group of devices. Device name : A name you wish to give for your device. Device Type : Select the type of device you are adding. IP or DNS : the IP or DNS address of your device. TCP Port : The TCP port the device is currently configured to. Username : The user account username configured on the remote device used to access the device. Password :: The user account password configured on the remote device used to access the device. TransCD Port : The Transcode port, (You usually do not have to change this field) ifreedom User Guide Page 3 FR V1.6

4 Editing and deleting a device To edit an existing device tap the i icon To delete a device swipe from right to left on the device you want to delete To delete a device in Android, tap and hold, then select remove Exporting devices to another User You can export devices from your device list to another ifreedom User, which attaches a configuration file to an , the User receiving the can then import the configuration into their device list. To do this, tap on the menu bar, then the Device Manager icon. Once in Device Manager follow the steps below. A tick indicates a selected device Tap each device you wish to include in the export Importing a Config File into an iphone or ipad If someone has sent you an existing ifreedom configuration by , open the on your device, then long press (touch and hold your finger down) on the attachment icon, after which you will be presented with a list of applications to open the attachedment with, then s elect(tap) the ifreedom icon. 5 Importing a Config File into an Android device The following screenshots were taken from an Android Nexus device, running Android version 7.1, the images may differ on your device, depending on manufacturer, Android version, client and the File manager app you use. In the example below I will be using the free Amaze File Manager app to copy the saved file. Steps to import an ifreedom config into an Android device : 1. Give the ifreedom app Storage permissions. 2. Completely exit the ifreedom application. 3. From your client i.e (Gmail) save the FreedomAppConfig file. (by default, usually saved to the downloads folder.) 4. Using a File Manager app, copy the FreedomAppConfig.json file to the root folder of the Storage folder. 5. Re-open the ifreedom app and under Device Manager you should now see the new device/s listed. Assigning Storage permissions to ifreedom Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Settings option, then scroll down and tap the Apps option. Enable Open your client app (i.e. Gmail), locate & open the that has the subject of Freedom App Config, then tap the download option (see example below) which usually saves the file to your default Download folder. Warning! Importing a configuration will overwrite and remove any existing devices Now you need to copy the downloaded file from the previous step and paste it into the root of your storage or SD card folder. The example below uses the Amaze File Manager app Copy icon Paste icon Tap to select Tap & Hold After pasting, this file should appear at the bottom of the list ifreedom User Guide Page 5 FR V1.6

6 After the FreedomAppConfig file has been copied to the storage root, re-open the ifreedom app and navigate to the Device Manager window as seen below and the device/s should now be visible. Re-synchronizing the camera list If cameras have been added or modified at si tes associated with your recording devices you may have to re-synchronize your device camera list, which is like a refresh to make sure any new cameras that you have permissions for are made available to you for selection. To do this, while in the Device Manager window, tap on the device you want to refresh then tap the re-synchronize button at the bottom of the current window. Creating a site Image right: the re-synchronize button. A site is a logical named entity where devices can be grouped under, this can be helpful when you have multiple sites and need to group the associated devices for each site under a particular site(name). Sites are created from Device Manager either when adding a device or by editing an existing device. To add a new site navigate to Device Manager and tap the edit button corresponding to an existing device, then tap the edit button to the right of the Site Name, from here tap the + button to add a new site, give your site a name. After a site has been created you need to edit each device and change its Site Name to the new site. Identifiying the corrent TCP & transcode port The steps below identify where on the Freedom Server recorder the TCP port is displayed. Note: setup rights are required to view this screen. The image below shows you how to get to the TCP/Transcode port configuration page in the Freedom Server recorder to see what the TCP and transcode ports are currently set to. These 2 ports are the ports that need to be port-forwarded by your I.T administrator/contractor. Note: the ports shown below may be different for your system. ifreedom User Guide Page 6 FR V1.6

7 Saving your favourite cameras to groups Follow the steps below: 1 st open the cameras you want to create a group from then tap the favorites icon (Step 2), than name your group (Step 3) then tap confirm (Step 4) Name your group then tap Confirm 1 st open the cameras you wish to create a group from. The new group will appear here To open the group tap the group name To open a group simply tap the group name. Viewing Cameras Live To view cameras follow these steps; Select the cameras you want to view by tapping in the circle ifreedom User Guide Page 7 FR V1.6

8 Browsing All cameras from 1 device You can select all cameras from a device by tapping the top most circle on the right side of the recorder name (blue text), this selects (ticks) all camera from a device. Once the first 4 cameras are open, to move to the next set of 4 cameras swipe from right to left. Swipe from right to left to move to the next 4 cameras. ifreedom User Guide Page 8 FR V1.6

10 Troubleshooting issues I cannot get any cameras from a recorder to open. Check the connection settings like IP address/domain, TCP port and account login details are correct. Check with your I.T administrator that the port-forwarding has been configured on the router at the remote site. Check the recorder is online. On the remote recorder re-start the Transcode service. I cannot view new cameras that have been added to the recorder On the mobile app, navigate to Device Manager, tap the recorder in question and scroll to the bottom of the window and tap the re-synchronize button. Ensure the User account you are logging in with on the remote recorder has been given permission to view or playback the new cameras. In Device Manager, note down all the connection settings, then delete the device, then re-add the device. When moving between cameras, I frequently receive a failed to open live video message Try selecting the low quality transcode stream, this uses less network bandwidth. If this doesn t help, this may indicate poor network performance in one or more network segments. For best results ensure your network links have low latency characteristics and the internet upload speed at your remote site is adequate for the configured transcode bandwidth and the quantity of users viewing the streams simultaneously. ifreedom User Guide Page 10 FR V1.6
