1 Staff Guide Fuse ipad App set up and use Fuse by TechSmith works with the Camtasia Relay server to enable the submission of a video file from a mobile device to the streaming server for future playback on multiple devices. This guide describes how to use the Fuse ipad app, but Fuse also works on the iphone, Android tablets and phones, and Windows tablets and phones. Step 1 Download the Fuse app from the App Store. Step 2 Navigate to the main pages on the ipad and locate the Fuse icon. Tap on the icon to load the app. Step 3 After the loading screen shown below is replaced by a preview of your device s camera, tap the Settings icon in the bottom left hand corner. 1

Step 4 Complete the settings screen by entering relay.port.ac.uk as the server name, and your University username and password in the appropriate fields.

(Note: Very long, recordings with high video quality will take longer to upload and process than short recordings at low video quality.

You may also adjust the quality of your recording by tapping the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Tap Save in the top right hand corner when you are ready to continue. Your rear-facing camera is usually of higher quality, so should be used where possible.) Step 6 To stop your recording tap the stop button in the bottom right-hand corner. Step 7 On the Submit Recording screen enter a title and description for your recording and under Profiles choose the profile type you wish to submit. Profiles determine the way in which your video is stored on the server when using Fuse you should select either the video, downloadable video or video with editing profiles. All recordings can be streamed directly to devices. If you wish for the viewer to be able to download the video, for example to allow viewing when an internet connection is not available, choose the downloadable video profile. Alternatively contact elearn@port.ac.uk with the name of your recording, and the profile will be applied retrospectively. Only choose video with editing if you intend to edit the recording afterwards using the separate Camtasia Studio application (license required) as this takes up a lot of server storage and is slow to process. (Note: If you are unsure or have special requirements please choose Upload and Decide Later and then elearn@port.ac.uk or ring (023) to discuss as soon as possible.) Select Done to submit your recording. 3

4 Step 8 After submitting a recording, tapping the Upload List button at the bottom of the screen will display the status of your upload. If the Upload List is blank then your file has been successfully uploaded. Step 9 You will receive two s from the Camtasia Relay server the exact content of the s will vary depending on the upload profile you selected in Step 7. The first (which you will receive within an hour) will let you know that your recording has been uploaded successfully and will provide a temporary link where you can view your recording. 5 You will receive the second once your recording has been fully processed and can be found within Compass (within a maximum of 24 hours). It will contain a permanent link for viewing your recording in Compass the embed code available on this Compass webpage will help you add your recording to a Moodle unit should you wish.
