1 Downloading and Installing the Eyecon s Quarterly Update File October 2015 Overview: Eyecon updates files are provided quarterly mid-month in January, April, July, and October. These updates include drug databases and color pill photos from MediSpan as well as any product software enhancements that have been completed in that quarter. The update is posted in a secure area of our website and a notice is ed to the address on file for registered Eyecon owners. Update warnings begin appearing on the Eyecon display starting on Wednesday of the 2 nd full week of the months listed above. These warnings become more frequent over the next four weeks until the Eyecon is updated. If the Eyecon is still not updated after four weeks, the drug database and photos are removed from the Eyecon, in compliance with our lease agreement with WKH for the MediSpan data. After the 4 week warning period has lapsed, we will post a much larger update file that contains ALL of the Medi-Span data that is needed to reload the deleted drug data. While we always strive to make the update available before the update warnings begin, the challenges of schedules and software development sometimes preclude that. Unfortunately, the Q4 update is coming one week after the warnings began to appear on your Eyecon Schoolcraft Rd Suite 208Livonia, MI Page 1

2 To Access the Download File: From the Eyecon website click on the "Eyecon User" link on the menu bar, as circled below: Click on the grey bar that says If you are a registered owner of an Eyecon, please click here to login as shown circled below Schoolcraft Rd Suite 208Livonia, MI Page 2

3 Enter your username and password as shown circled in Red below: NOTE: If you are a first time user or have lost your credentials, enter your serial number, located on the back of your Eyecon, where circled in Orange above and then click Get Password. Then fill out the appropriate information to start the process of requesting a new password. An will be sent with your registered User ID & Password. Once you receive your User ID & Password, continue with the login above. NOTE: If you see the following screen after entering your Serial Number, then we could not locate that serial number in our database. Either check the S/N and try again with the correct S/N or click on the circled area below and a manual response will be sent to you. 4 Download The Eyecon Update: At the Eyecon Updates and User Maintenance page click on the Eyecon Update link as circled below (the current update will have April 2015 in the heading above the link). (Oct 2015) NOTE: If this link does NOT appear as shown above, then your registration has expired. The licensed can be renewed at the Renew License Agreement section further down the same page. Next you will be prompted for another ID and Password, this is the same as the Login used previously (be sure to capitalize the EE in your serial number). After logging in, you will be prompted to Find, Open or Save the Update. If you select Save As, you can specify where you would like to save the file. Do not try to open the file! You should either save the Update to the root folder of a memory stick OR if you have file sharing setup, you may save directly to the Update folder on the Eyecon. NOTE: Delete any older update files (ending with.eyecon2) from the memory stick before proceeding! The downloaded file will be named: 2015_07_07_Quick_2_1_1_56.Update.Eyecon2 o NOTE: If your file has (1) or another number after the Update you must have downloaded more than once. 5 Install The Eyecon Update: Note: If you have file sharing enabled and you copied the update directly to the Eyecon Update folder, then on the Eyecon simply press Settings->Files and then Check for Updates in the lower left section to apply the update and follow the prompts shown on the following page. If you do not have file sharing setup, proceed as follows: Plug the memory stick into the back of the Eyecon. At the following prompt select Yes. If nothing pops up within 2 minutes of plugging in the memory stick, then go to: Settings Files Tab, at the top of the screen Press the Check for Updates button, in the lower left corner. The update prompts should show up shortly. If you see the following message, press No. NOTE: This message is an indication that the particular memory stick type that was inserted is new to this Eyecon. 6 If you see a screen asking if you want to Run, press [RUN]. Answer Yes when the following prompt appears: Then you will see the following prompt, press NEXT to proceed: A progress bar will advance quickly from 0 to 100% while the integrity of the update file is verified. Next another progress bar will advance more slowly while the updates are installed: Schoolcraft Rd Suite 208Livonia, MI Page 6

7 Once the installation has completed, the Eyecon will ask you to press [Close]. The Eyecon should shut down and restart on its own within a few minutes. IMPORTANT: Please wait for the Eyecon to shut down by itself. NOTE: If the Eyecon does NOT automatically power down after waiting at least 4 minutes or longer, momentarily press and release the square button on the back of the right hand side of the Eyecon and then wait. When the screen turns black, press and release the same button to restart the Eyecon. After restarting the Eyecon, if you continue to see the Update Warnings then either you have an older update file on the memory stick or the update didn t complete its installation successfully. If so, plug the USB stick into your computer and delete any older files on the USB stick that end with.eyecon2 and then try again Schoolcraft Rd Suite 208Livonia, MI Page 7
