1 Page: 1 of 6 Document Summary: This document contains steps to install OptimalFlight and pdf995 software. An example is provided on how to use OptimalFlight to send a report by . OptimalFlight is an advanced Microsoft Excel TM application. The recommended PC environment is as follows: Windows PC (Win2000 and later Operating System) o The program can be installed on an Intel-based Mac in the dual boot mode, assuming Excel is installed in the Windows environment. Excel 2003 or 2002 (or Excel XP). o Excel 2000 can be used only if Internet Explorer version is V6 (not V7 or later). If using Excel 2000, do not apply Windows XP Service Pack 3 (available as of May 2008) or an upgrade to Excel 2002 or later is necessary. OptimalFlight has been successfully installed on PC s worldwide. Some locations have required temporarily setting regional language settings to English to properly install and activate the program. Files to download: Excel users: If you d like to PDF reports from OptimalFlight, also download two additional programs: Pdf995 Printer Driver: Free Converter: Update: It is also recommended the pdfedit995 tool be downloaded. This allows you to combine pdf jobs and lets Excel take advantage of some of pdf995 s programmability. PdfEdit995: Note: PDF files have been created successfully for the past five years with success and no incompatibility problems. The free versions of pdf995 products will display a sponsor page in your web browser it is run. If you would prefer not to see sponsor pages, a license key can be purchased for $9.95. If you do not have Excel software or prefer an older version of Excel ( editions), contact support@qualitygolfstats.com for a recommended source to obtain this software.

2 Page: 2 of 6 Steps to install OptimalFlight: 1. Download the OptimalFlight installer. 2. Double-click on the installer program. a. Click Next b. Click Next at the VBA Macro information screen. c. Installation is not permitted without agreement to license agreement. Choose I agree with the above terms and conditions. And click Next. d. Accept default installation to C:\OptimalFlight folder and Click Next. It is optional to install it in a different location (ex: Program Files) but there may be a chance user security may restrict you from doing so. An informational message may appear if destination directory does not exist. Click Yes to create it. e. Click Start button to begin installation. An informational message may appear if an existing installation exists. Click Yes to upgrade it to the latest edition. f. When installation completes, it will say OptimalFlight has been successfully installed. Click Next. g. Click Exit to exit the installer. The installation will create a \Start\Programs\OptimalFlight\Run OptimalFlight and put a start-up shortcut icon on your desktop. Click on either to start up OptimalFlight. 3. Start up OptimalFlight by one of three methods: \Start\Programs\OptimalFlight\Run OptimalFlight OptimalFlight start-up short-cut icon on your desktop. Locate the C:\OptimalFlight\OptimalFlight.xls program and double-click on it. 4. OptimalFlight uses Excel VBA macros. It needs to be enabled for the application to run properly. When security settings are set to medium, a prompt will appear to and ask for permission to run the program. 5. If it is the first time installing the program on this computer, a registration screen will appear as shown. a. OptimalFlight registration is a 3 step process: b. REGISTER Internet (recommended) Webpage (alternate method to the internet option) Manual (for computers that are not connected to internet). QualityGolfStats will need to manually activate your registration key and reply when this is complete. Either you can wait 5-15 minutes for an activation or close OptimalFlight and re-run the program when activation is complete.

3 Page: 3 of 6 ACTIVATE This step requires an internet connection or a special file provided by QualityGolfStats.com. 95% of the time it runs smoothly. In case there are activation issues (which could be firewall or language setting related), please support@qualitygolfstats.com. It may be necessary to complete program activation using the MANUAL ACTIVATION process (see button at below field). When an is received saying your OptimalFlight registration has been activated, click on the ACTIVATE button. Enter your exactly as typed in when prompted to create registration key. It takes a few seconds to complete activation process. Successful license activation will hide buttons 1 & 2 and leaves the RUN OptimalFlight option remaining. RUN OptimalFlight Click this button to start up the program. Clicking on this step without completing steps 1 and 2 will produce an informational message. 6. Successful start up of OptimalFlight looks like the screen-shot on right. 7. The launch conditions of up to four ball flights can be analyzed simultaneously. a. Basic ball flight analysis can be done by entering the basic 3 launch measurements (Ball Speed, Launch angle, and BackSpin).

4 Page: 4 of 6 b. In this example, text Test Shot #1 was typed in the Club/Shaft field for Flight A. Data values of 150, 12, 2500 keyed in and click HIT BALL button. The carry result of yards was calculated with a total distance result of yards. Optionally, data for clubspeed, push/pull, sidespin (or Spin Axis can be entered). Environment factors of wind, wind direction, turf condition, elevation, relative humidity, temperature and tee box to fairway elevation difference can be entertained. Each of the four shots can have be a product of 12 variables, allowing easy what-if learning opportunities by holding all factors constant and changing one (ex: elevation) or a combination thereof (ex: elevation + wind). No other ball flight application permits exploration and discovery in 12 dimensions or 12 different launch and environment conditions simultaneously. A clubfitter or shop personalized OptimalFlight application allows placement of your contact details on the upper left corner with shop logo in the upper right corner. 5 Page: 5 of 6 Steps to install pdf995 software: 1. OptimalFlight uses the pdf995 application because it offers an easy way to create PDF files and . These PDF files are compatible with Adobe Acrobat application. 2. Download the three software programs and install them into default locations as prompted. a. Pdf995 Printer Driver: i. Double-click on the pdf995s.exe to start the installation process. ii. When it is done, the default browser application on the computer will open up a local webpage similar to the screen shot on right. b. Free Converter: i. Double-click on the ps2pdf995.exe to start the installation process. ii. Successful installation will re-load the web-page as shown earlier. c. PdfEdit995: i. Double-click on the pdfedit.exe to start the installation process. ii. Successful installation will re-load the web-page as shown earlier.

6 Page: 6 of 6 Now you re ready to print PDF files using pdf995 printer driver and utilize OptimalFlight s capability to send these PDF reports in an as follows: d. Create or load ball flight report and click on the Print and report button. e. If an internet connection is available and your license has send PDF file via privileges, a similar dialog message will appear as shown on right. f. Enter an address for delivery of an OptimalFlight PDF report. g. Complete the notes that will appear in the body of the as shown on right. The Send report to and Signature sections will be automatically filled in for you based on shop or club-fitter information in the control panel section of OptimalFlight. h. Enter a file name for the report and click OK. i. Click SEND REPORT button to the report! There may be a firewall alert from the pdfib.exe application. This happens when using the sponsor message (free version of pdf995) This can be stopped by upgrading the installation to stop sponsor messages and the nag screen with pdf995 completely. Denying this message will not affect OptimalFlight from sending an .
