1 LocateXT Version 1.3 Quick Start NOTE: Portions of this guide show capabilities not available in certain versions of the LocateXT software product System Requirements Operating System, 32-bit or 64-bit versions of: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 10 Installation LocateXT Software Online Download Run (double-click) the downloaded LocateXT setup file (either 32-bit or 64-bit operating system version) and follow the prompts. For assistance in determining the operating system version, see During the LocateXT installation you will be prompted to download and install the Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack and related files. For maximum capabilities this step should be completed. The installation will allow you to use a LocateXT trial license (30 days upon install) or run the License Manager to register a specific license, if you have one. PDF - For maximum capabilities when processing PDF files, a PDF IFilter is required. Windows 8 and later typically include PDF IFilters. For Windows 7 and Windows XP, typically, this just means that Adobe Reader is installed. If not, follow support item #1 at to download and install the appropriate PDF IFilter. 1

2 LocateXT Desktop Application The LocateXT Desktop application can be accessed from the Windows Start Menu, like any other application. The License Manager and User guides are accessed here as well, as is the License Server (if installed). The desktop application provides the ability to perform: 1. Structured Imports for structured files (Excel spreadsheets or Delimited text) 2. Unstructured Data Scans of unstructured files (text, Office products, PDFs and more), folders, and copy/pasted text. This application can output KML, Shapefiles, or Feature Services (directly into ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS if available). NOTE: the shapefile output option from this interface DOES NOT REQUIRE any Esri software on the system. 3. The LocateXT Drop Window, a rapid drag & drop interface for processing unstructured data. 3 LocateXT Windows Explorer Quick Menu The LocateXT application can also be used within the Windows Explorer interface. Simply select file(s) and/or folder(s), right-click and output to the desired format. To ArcGIS Online is Feature Service output. Structured Import Unstructured Scan 3

4 LocateXT ArcMap Extension The LocateXT application is available in ArcMap as an extension with a toolbar. In ArcMap, select Extensions menu and activate the extension Select the Toolbars menu and activate the LocateXT toolbar Unstructured Scan Structured Import 4

5 LocateXT ArcMap Extension The LocateXT Structured Document Import and the Unstructured Document Scan windows are the primary ArcMap interface for creating Shapefiles, Feature Classes, entire new Geodatabases, and Feature Services (concurrently created in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS if available). 5

6 LocateXT Geoprocessing Tool The LocateXT software includes a geoprocessing tool that can be used on its own or within ModelBuilder. This tool is for running Unstructured Document scans. To access this tool, create a New Toolbox, Add Tools, and select the appropriate ClearTerra Tools version. 6

7 LocateXT Geoprocessing Tool The LocateXT Toolbox tool can now be used as a standalone tool in ArcMap or inserted into ModelBuilder and combined with other geoprocessing tools to create geoprocessing and analytical workflows. 7

8 Initial Options Settings LocateXT default installation settings are configured to detect possible invalid coordinates and log them along with a notification to the user after a scan. These settings may generate frequent warnings about invalid coordinates. If this is occurring and the warning is not desired, it is recommended to disable (uncheck) the Log invalid coordinates within the LocateXT Options for the different coordinate types. 8
