1 TimberNavi Software Update On Machine Software Update Release Notes Office Software Update Release Notes Important Information Always check for office software updated in the TimberNavi support website in MyJohnDeere.com before updating the on-machine software. There are corresponding changes in TimberNavi Map Designer and Add-in Toolbar for ArcMap. To save a trip to the machine, update the TimberNavi software when loading a new map into TimberNavi. Steps for updating on-machine software: 1. Downloading the software update from the TimberNavi support site in MyJohnDeere.com (TimberNavi_On-Machine_Software.zip) 2. Extract the ZIP file contents to a USB flash drive. On the USB there now should be a folder called TimberNavi On-Machine Software, inside the folder there should be 2 files: TimberNavi_ArcGis_Install.exe and Update Software.mpk. The Map Package file is an empty map and is only there so that TimberNavi detects the folder within Select Site window. 3. Bring the USB to the machine and key off machine. Wait for TimberNavi Monitor to power down 4. Power on TimberNavi Monitor only by pressing power button on front of monitor 5. Connect the USB flash drive to the TimberNavi Monitor 6. Tap the Main Menu icon and tap Select Site 7. Select USB 8. Select folder called TimberNavi On-Machine Software 9. Tap Open 10. Update Software popup will appear, click Install 11. Start install when prompted. 12. Wait minutes for the software update to complete successfully. 13. Tap Finish and allow TimberNavi Monitor to restart. 14. Upon restarting EWF is disabled popup will appear, click Yes to enable EWF. Monitor will restart again 15. Key on machine 16. COMPLETE 1

2 New Features and Resolved Items on Machine Connectivity Window The Connectivity window opens from the main dropdown menu. This window shows the machine s cell signal strength in the upper-left corner. This window also give you access to log into your MyJohnDeere Account to enable Location History Sync and to launch Remote Display Access (RDA) Remote Display Access (RDA) RDA allows you to view the TimberNavi display on another computer. Press the Start RDA icon inside the Connectivity window to launch the John Deere Remote Support application powered by TeamViewer QuickSupport. Provide the remote user Your ID and Password numbers. They will then be able to log into TeamViewer Desktop and see the TimberNavi Display. RDA requires good to excellent cell coverage to work. The remote user must have a licensed TeamViewer Desktop application. MyJohnDeere Settings Press the MyJohnDeere icon inside the Connectivity window to launch the MyJohnDeere Login Settings window. Authorize TimberNavi to access your MyJohnDeere account by pressing the Authorize button and log into your JDLink/ MyJohnDeere account. Once the connection is set up, press the Machines button to enable Location History on the map. Location History View the Location History (remote machine tracks) for JDLink-enabled machines. Machines with active JDLink subscriptions will appear on the map with a machine icon at the last known GPS location. Available tracks will appear on the map for those machines that have moved. The last 24 hours of data will show by default. Each machine s tracks will have a unique color. Use the Layers List to show or hide machine icons and the Location History tracks. 2

3 Connect to Selected Machines List Press the Machines button inside the MyJohnDeere Login Settings window to access the Connect to Selected Machines List. The list shows all machines your JDLink / MyJohnDeere user has access to. Sort the list by using the sort dropdown. The last 24 hours of Location History will be downloaded for all machines selected in this list. The Machines List can also be accessed through the View widget menu. Historical Tracks: Location History The Historical Tracks window has a toggle switch to download more than 24 hours of Location History. Location History tracks (if available) will be loaded for all machines selected in the Machines List for the date range set in the Historical Tracks window. Select Site: Wireless Data Transfer (WDT) Map site files can now be transferred wirelessly between the TimberNavi monitor and MyJohnDeere. Exported files can also be uploaded from TimberNavi to MyJohnDeere. To download a site, press the Wireless Data Transfer icon inside the Select Site window, then pick a Site folder previously uploaded to MyJohnDeere. The site folder will open automatically once the file is downloaded to the TimberNavi monitor. Good to excellent cell coverage is needed to successfully download Site files. Use Map Designer v5.8.8 to upload a Site file to MyJohnDeere. Export/Import: Map Data Selection for Export Choose from various types of map data such as machine tracks, Points of Interest, Locaton History, map geometery, and the original site map. All imported data (except Points of Interest) will appear as individual layers in the Layers List. Imported Points of Interest will be merged with the current map s POI layer and will not appear as a separate layer. 3

4 Export/Import: Upload to, Download from MyJohnDeere Upload exported files to MyJohnDeere or download and open files from MyJohnDeere. Measure Tool: Machine Tracks Total Distance When using the Measure Tool the total distance of all machine tracks within measured area will be calculated. This value is displayed in the Info Bar to the left of the area measured. Tracks will be highlighted when being measured. Both Active and Historical Tracks can be measured. Location History tracks will not be measured. Settings: Automatically Clock Sync The clock displayed in the Menu bar will now be set automatically. Simply choose the time zone and TimberNavi will automatically adjust the time for Day Light Savings. The time is synced with GPS time from the JDLink controller. RDA & MyJohnDeere Status Tray Whenever Wireless Data Transfer, Location History data transfer or RDA is in progress, the status tray will appear just below the clock. Background Shading All popup windows have a shaded background. All popup windows can be closed by touching in the shaded area. Larger Alarms and Layers List Window The Layers and Alarm List windows are now larger when viewed individually. Fix for Distance Traveled Measurement Fixed the inconsistency between the Total Distance Traveled and the Measuring Tool. Fix for Invalid GPS Location Appearing on Map Fixed issue where GPS location will move to a far off location and jump back to valid location within seconds. A new machine location will not appear if new location is greater than 10 kilometer away from previous valid location. 4

TOOLBAR: Added Help content Help content can be accessed from the TimberNavi drop-down menu inside the Toolbar. TOOLBAR: Added Guidelines to Setup Window Polyline layer called Guidelines has been added as a new default TimberNavi layer. TOOLBAR: Add Layer Function Easily create new layer with a single click. Select the Create Layer option in the drop-down menu. Then choose the type of layer and give it a name. TOOLBAR: Import Feature Class Copies an existing Feature Class into the project Geodatabase. TOOLBAR: Import ZIP files Zipped folders (.zip) containing one or more Shapefiles, JSON and/or KML files can be imported directly without having to extract the contents. TOOLBAR: Python Scripts Advanced ArcMap users can use and modify the ArcPy scripts located in c:\users\[user]\my Documents\ArcGIS\TimberNavi5\Python\Scripts Full Functionality Software Version Compatibility To take advantage of full functionality across all programs download and install the latest versions.
