3 Installation Guide & Release Notes Installation Instructions System Requirements The following are the minimum system requirements for running SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator: Pentium IV-class processor; 1GB RAM; A color monitor with a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768 pixels; A mouse with scroll wheel; Microsoft Windows Operating System, either: o Windows XP (SP2 or SP3) (32-bit); or o Windows Vista (SP1) (32-bit or 64- bit); or o Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit);.NET Framework 2.0; PDF reader such as Foxit Reader ( or Adobe Reader ( Automatic Start of Installation If the Autorun facility is enabled for the drive into which the SpineAnalyzer Demonsrator is inserted then the installation process should commence automatically once the drive door is closed. If for some reason the installation process does not begin automatically, initiate the installation process manual as described below. Once the installation wizard begins follow the instructions below. Manual Start of Installation Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the CD or DVD drive containing the SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator CD double click the file setup.exe. Once the installation wizard begins follow the instructions below. Installation Wizard After a few seconds you should be presented with the installation wizard as below. Click on the Next button to continue. If you wish to abort the installation click Cancel. Installation Requirements SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator must be installed and registered using a Windows account with administrator privileges. Contents of CD SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator is installed from the distribution CD provided by Optasia Medical. The CD contains the following files: SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator.msi: the Windows installer for the SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator Edition software. SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator User Guide.pdf: the User Guide for SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator Edition. SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator Installation Guide and Release Notes.pdf: an electronic copy of this document. The next dialog window (below) allows you to specify the location on disk where SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator will be installed and whether the Windows start menu and desktop icons should be made available to all users or just the user currently logged on. Once you have made your selections click the Next button to continue. Page 3

4 Installation Guide & Release Notes Once you click the Next button on the final dialog (below) the software will be installed according to the selections previously made. The final dialog signifies the completion of the installation process. Click Close to end the wizard. The dialog shown below is displayed whilst the installation is being performed. The progress bar indicates the proportion of the installation completed. During the installation process you will be prompted to register your SpineAnalyzer license. Please refer to the section Software Licensing for more details. The installation process will have placed an icon on your (or all users if specified) desktop like the one below as well as a start menu shortcut. Either of these can be used to start SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator. Page 4

5 Installation Guide & Release Notes Software Licensing In order to execute SpineAnalyzer Demonstrator it is necessary to obtain a valid license key for each computer on which the software is to be used. The first time you start SpineAnalyzer you will be prompted to register and to provide a valid license key. The license registration box is shown below. Save Request button, then sent as an attachment. Alternatively, use the Copy To Clipboard button and paste the License Request into the body of an message. The generated License Request is unique to the computer that you are installing the software on, as is the corresponding License Key. This means that you will be unable to install SpineAnalyzer on a different machine with the same key. Your License Key will be sent as an attachment which should be saved to your computer or portable storage device. Click the << Back button to return to the registration page, then click Enter Key to complete the registration process. The first stage of registration is to request a License Key. Please enter your name and the name of your company or institution, then click the Request Key button to generate your License Request. To enter your License Key click the Load Key From File button and browse for, then open your License Key file. With the License Key displayed on screen, click the Apply License Key button. SpineAnalyzer will now register and the application will open. The expiry date for your license can be viewed at any time in the About Box. Please send your License Request by to Optasia Medical customer support (support@optasiamedical.com). The License Request can be saved to a file by clicking the Page 5

6 Installation Guide & Release Notes PACS Connection Guide Required Information and Limitations of Use You will need the following information in order to establish a PACS connection using SpineAnalyzer : On this panel single click on the PACS servers item with the right mouse button and select the Add item from the drop down menu. You will now be presented with the New PACS Server dialogue as shown below. The hostname and port number of the PACS server. The Application Entity (AE) title of the PACS server. The hostname and port number of the local machine on which SpineAnalyzer will run. The Application Entity (AE) title assigned to SpineAnalyzer. The PACS capability within SpineAnalyzer can only be used to query and retrieve data from a compliant PACS server. It cannot be used to push data back to the PACS server. For more detail information on the capabilities and limitation of the PACS interface please refer to the DICOM Conformance Statement document for SpineAnalyzer. Creating a Connection From the main application window ensure that you can see the Import panel that is situated to the left of the main Session Grid as shown below. You may need to select the Import tab at the bottom of the panel or slide out the panel from the left if it has been unpinned. You should first name this entry by changing the New PACS Server text in the first text box. This is simply a label for you to identify this connection and is useful if you need to manage connections to different PACS servers from the same SpineAnalyzer installation. Next complete the Server Properties section using the PACS server hostname, AE title and port number. Finally complete the Local Properties section using the details of the machine on which SpineAnalyzer is installed. The following is an example of how the form may look once completed. Page 6

7 Installation Guide & Release Notes Ensure the connection details are correct and then select the Test tab on the panel and you will be presented with the dialogue as shown above. Click the Test Connection button and wait a few seconds for the Status panel to update. If everything is working correctly the Status message will end with the text Connection Test Successful!. You should then be able to use your PACS connection to query and retrieve image data. Click OK to save the settings. Testing the Connection From the Import panel open the properties for the connection with a right mouse click on the connection label and then selecting Properties from the drop down menu. If you cannot see the label for the connection you may need to expand the list with a left click on the symbol next to PACS Servers. If the Status message ends with the text Connection Test Failed you need to review and change the connection details in the Settings tab and try again. If you continue to have problems you may need to consult your local PACS administrator and or network systems administrator. You will not be able to use the PACS capabilities of SpineAnalyzer until the test connection is successful. Page 7

8 Installation Guide & Release Notes Release Notes New Features - SpineAnalyzer 3.2 This version of SpineAnalyzer contains the following new features: Improved vertebral search; Improved support for VFA images; Simplified vertebral analysis workflow; Saving a session for a second time does not save the images (551). Unable to save a session that contains duplicate, viewed images (552). Performance deteriorates when multiple analyzed images in session grid (553). Can't start SpineAnalyzer due to corrupt settings file (554). Support for differential diagnoses; Window leveling within the image display; Better DICOM image support including access to image metadata; PACS search and image retrieve; DICOM directory search and image retrieve; Document based session editor that allows analyses to be saved and viewed or continued at a later date; Export feature to allow analysis data to be exported to a CSV file or Microsoft Excel workbook. Support for Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). Connections to PACS aren't disconnected after search, import or retrieve (563). Assisted editing not always enabled for new vertebrae (592). Maintenance - SpineAnalyzer The following is a list of issues and anomalies previously reported but fixed in version of SpineAnalyzer : Deleting an image in a saved session causes the application to crash losing all modifications made since the last save(419). Unable to load a session containing opened images from a DICOMDIR on a CD (422). Saving session with images with nonunique filenames does not save all opened images (490). Support for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64- bit). Maintenance - SpineAnalyzer The following is a list of issues and anomalies previously reported but fixed in this release of SpineAnalyzer : Exported fields viewed in Excel not displaying more than 256 columns (425). Unable to import DICOM studies, from PACS or DICOMDIR, which contain apostrophes in the patient name (489). Incompatibility with some PACS Servers due to missing ancestor instance UIDs (538). Maintenance - SpineAnalyzer The following is a list of issues and anomalies previously reported but fixed in version of SpineAnalyzer : Page 8

9 Installation Guide & Release Notes Right-clicking a row in Deformity Grid does not change color of corresponding vertebra label in the image display. Use the left-mousebutton to highlight both row and corresponding vertebra (400). data or the image display or search. Editing of the column in the session grid should be disabled. (411). SQ score is not reset when setting multiple SQ scores(546). When exporting analysis data to CSV or MS Excel the simple crush deformity result value, which is only available using the Export feature, is rounded (to 3 decimal places) instead of truncated (at 3 decimal places) (408). Installing the software using the.msi file rather than setup.exe may cause problems (608). When opening a previously saved session file a temporary folder containing the session contents is created (in the user s temp folder) but not deleted afterwards. From time to time, it may be necessary to manually delete these files to free hard drive space (409). Unresolved Anomalies - SpineAnalyzer The following is a list of known issues and unresolved anomalies for this version of SpineAnalyzer : The Patient Sex is not displayed on report if it is not listed as M or F (252). The Browse button on the DICOMDIR properties dialog should default to current DICOMDIR (289). When adjusting the vertebral annotation as a whole, it is occasionally possible to flip a vertebra by dragging an edge over its opposite edge. This may cause the bounding box to appear corrupt although adjustments can be reversed using the undo feature. (396). After removing a single patient from the session explorer newly loaded images are not displayed in session grid (398). Although the Photometric Interpretation property can be modified for an image within the session grid, this has no effect on either the underlying image Page 9
