5 1. Intrductin This user manual prvides cmprehensive dcumentatin fr AVG AntiVirus Business Editin. Imprtant ntice: The dcument may cntain references t ther user guides, especially the Internet Security guide. If yu are nt familiar with the AVG User Interface and AVG Advanced/Firewall settings we strngly recmmend that yu dwnlad all relevant guides in advance frm the hmepage website, Supprt Center/Dwnlad/Dcumentatin sectin. Yu can als use cntext help, which is available thrugh the applicatin, t get the requested infrmatin AVG AntiVirus Business Editin scheme Please review the simplified scheme f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin shwing the basic cnnectin and interactin f remte administratin cmpnents in the default and mst cmmn cnfiguratin: 4

6 1) AVG Data Center cnsists f a database, and AVG Admin Server. The AVG Admin Server perfrms the rle f a mediatr between the AVG Data Center and AVG statins. The AVG Admin Cnsle uses the AVG Admin Server t apprach the AVG Data Center database, and t centrally define settings fr statins and system parameters. AVG statins apprach the AVG Admin Server t read the setup parameters and t save their currently defined setting and scan results int the AVG Data Center. AVG Admin Server als wrks as a lcal update surce. If yu deply the UpdatePrxy rle t multiple servers, yu can then use them fr updating statins and keeping the bandwidth/lad in balance. 2) AVG Admin Cnsle is a prgram fr administratin f AVG statins. It cmmunicates directly with the AVG Admin Server. 3) Statins cmmunicate with the AVG Admin Server that accepts the default settings, requests specific settings, sends the scan results etc. 4) AVG Technlgies Server prvides AVG Admin Server/Servers with update files Key features and functins AVG AntiVirus Business Editin ffers the fllwing functins: Remte installatin Using this functin yu can easily install AVG n all statins in the lcal netwrk. This remte installatin is secured by the AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard a prgram fr direct remte installatin and/r creatin f an installatin script that makes it pssible t run the Setup installatin prgram n all remte netwrk statins. Centrally cntrlled updates All AVG statins in the netwrk can be updated centrally using the AVG Admin Cnsle. Server rles AVG AntiVirus Business Editin can nw act in multiple rles, where each rle can be deplyed separately (Data Center rle used fr remte statins management, UpdatePrxy rle fr managing updates), which allws the user t divide the lad amng multiple physical servers. Secured cmmunicatin Netwrk cmmunicatin between AVG Admin (AVG Admin Server) and statins is cmpletely encrypted. 5

If yu d nt need the full functinality, it is pssible t install and deply nly the AVG Admin Lite (fr installatin scripts generatin and lcal update surce). Recmmended Hardware Requirements Recmmended hardware requirements fr AVG AntiVirus Business Editin are as fllws: Intel Pentium CPU 1.8 GHz 900 MB f free hard drive space (plus up t 200 MB fr dwnladed installatin package) 512 MB f RAM memry 1.6. Netwrk Requirements In rder t successfully install AVG n statins remtely, it is necessary t take sme steps in advance. Nte: If yu experience any prblems with the remte administratin/installatin/cnnectin even after reviewing the chapters belw, please try t find the prper answer in the FAQ (Frequently Ask ed Questins) lcated at Prts t be allwed n statins Fr individual statins in yur netwrk, that use a persnal firewall, yu will prbably need t allw certain prts and set specific system features in rder t be able t crrectly use AVG remte installatin. Depending n the firewall type and settings n each statin, sme f the requirements listed belw may be already predefined r allwed, r its settings may nt be available under the same name and descriptin. We strngly recmmend that all changes shuld nly be dne by well experienced users! Always cnsult the User manual r Help guide fr yur firewall befre prceeding t change any settings. Ping (ICMP type 0 - Incming ech request) Change this setting nly if the AVG Netwrk Installer is nt able t detect netwrk statin(s), which yu are sure are switched n and fully peratinal. In the firewall settings used n the remte statin allw the incming ping requests within the lcal netwrk. Often this functin can be fund under ICMP type 0 r Incming ech request r similar descriptin. If set crrectly, AVG Netwrk Installer will be able t find the statin in the netwrk. 8

10 RPC: Remte Prcedure Call T be able t launch the AVG installatin n the remte statin, yu need t allw the fllwing prts in the firewall n the statin TCP and UDP prt 135. Distributed Cmpnent Object Mdel (DCOM) Fr prper functining f WMI (Windws Management Instrumentatin) used by the AVG Netwrk Installer, yu have t pen the DCOM prt. The DCOM prt is TCP 135. T pen it, fllw these steps: Click Start, and then click Cntrl Panel. Duble-click Windws Firewall, and then click the Exceptins tab. Click Add Prt. In the Name bx, type DCOM_TCP135, and then type 135 in the Prt number bx. Click TCP, and then click OK. Click OK Prts t be Allwed fr Remte Administratin Prts that need t be allwed fr remte administratin are listed belw: Cmmunicatin n TCP prt number 80 Fr dwnlading AVG updates frm the internet t the AVG Admin Server UpdatePrxy, it is necessary t permit utging cmmunicatin fr these cmpnents n TCP prt 80. TCP Prt 4158 Fr basic cmmunicatin between the AVG Admin Server and the AVG statins and the AVG Admin cnsle, yu need t allw TCP prt 4158 (predefined by default). This prt can be changed in the AVG Admin Server cnfiguratin and in the AVG User Interface n the statin (via upper menu Optins/Advanced Settings Remte Administratin). TCP Prt 6051 This prt is used fr direct messages frm AVG Admin Server t the AVG Statin. This prt can be changed within the AVG User Interface n the statin (via upper menu Optins/ Advanced Settings Remte Administratin). TCP Prt 6054 This prt is used fr direct messages frm the AVG Admin Server t the AVG Admin Cnsle. This prt is nt cnfigurable. AVG Admin Cnsle tries t pen this prt autmatically fr listening, if the prt is nt available, it tries t pen subsequent prts (6055, 6056, ) until it successfully finds an available ne Migrating Statins Frm Previus Versin The migratin f ne AVG Data Center t anther is described in the Hw t migrate statins frm/ t different Data Center chapter. 9

11 2. AVG AntiVirus Business Editin Installatin In rder t be able t remtely install AVG n statins, yu must first install AVG Remte Administratin and its cmpnents. The whle prcess cnsists basically f tw steps: Cmpnents Installatin Deplyment prcess Nte: It is strngly recmmended that yu g thrugh the fllwing chapters first t get a general verview f the AVG AntiVirus Business Editin installatin pssibilities s that yu can set the cnfiguratin that best suits yur needs. Especially check the Where t Install and Deply and Cmpnents Overview chapters. AVG AntiVirus Business Editin can be launched using the.exe file within the AVG Admin directry n the installatin CD. Als, the latest installatin package can always be dwnladed frm the AVG website at Nte: There are tw installatin pack ages available fr yur prduct - fr 32bit perating systems (mark ed as x86) and fr 64bit perating systems (mark ed as x64). Be sure t use the crrect installatin pack age fr yur specific perating system. Befre installing AVG Remte Administratin visit the AVG website and check fr the latest installatin file! 2.1. Cmpnents Overview Belw yu will find a brief verview f all cmpnents AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard This wizard will help yu t deply AVG AntiVirus Business Editin nt yur server r divide it acrss multiple servers AVG Netwrk Installer The AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard helps yu t autmatically install AVG n remte statins with nly a few clicks AVG Admin Cnsle The AVG Admin Cnsle is a central place fr administratin f yur remte AVG statin installatins in the netwrk. It cmmunicates with the AVG Admin server and cntrls, prcesses and displays all relevant events AVG Admin Lite AVG Admin Lite is the name given t a simplified installatin f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin, prviding nly a lcal update surce and script AVG installatins n statins, withut the benefits f AVG Data Center and AVG Admin Cnsle. 10

12 AVG Admin Server The AVG Admin Server stres data in a database (AVG Data Center) and perfrms the rle f a mediatr between the AVG Data Center and statins. AVG Admin Server may als wrk as a lcal update surce. The AVG Data Center is a database that cntains the entire cnfiguratin fr AVG statins, including scan and tasks settings. All statins with AVG installed, as well as the AVG Admin Cnsle prgram, cmmunicate with the AVG Data Center. The cmmunicatin is pssible nly if the Remte Administratin cmpnent is prperly installed n all statins cnnected t the AVG Admin Server. AVG Data Center supprts ne embedded and several standalne (cmmercial) SQL database systems. Yu will be able t chse specific database system during deplyment prcess (AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard starts after installatin) Server rles There are tw rles that can be deplyed after installatin n AVG Admin Servers. The selectin f rles is a key part f the deplyment prcess that will take place right after prduct installatin. The rles are as fllws: Data Center rle Allws central management f AVG statins cnfiguratin via the AVG Admin Cnsle, cllects scan results frm AVG statins, shws cmpnents states and much mre. UpdatePrxy rle Serves as a prxy server fr dwnlading and distributing updates t yur statins Where t Install and Deply Yu can install and deply different cmpnents/rles f AVG Remte Administratin t different servers/ statins. There is n need t install everything n ne machine. Once yu finish prduct installatin, yu will prceed t the deplyment prcess that allws yu t deply different server rles. Fr example, the AVG Data Center rle can be deplyed t sme central server in yur netwrk. If yur netwrk r number f statins is large, yu can deply the PrxyServer rle t multiple servers acrss the netwrk t achieve lad balancing and adequate bandwidth usage. Als, the AVG Admin Cnsle (central applicatin fr administratin f yur statins) can be installed t a different statin and the administratr can manage the statins frm any place. 11

13 2.3. Welcme Dialg The welcme dialg appears in the language f the perating system t which AVG AntiVirus Business Editin is being installed. Yu can switch t anther language by using the rll-dwn menu. The secnd part f the welcme dialg ffers the full wrding f the AVG AntiVirus Business Editin license agreement. Yu can either scrll dwn t read the text r click the Printable versin buttn t pen it in yur internet brwser windw and ptinally have the whle agreement printed. Once yu finish reading, click the Accept buttn t cntinue. Otherwise use the Decline buttn, and the installatin prcess will be cancelled. 12

14 2.4. License Activatin In this dialg enter yur License number. Click the Next buttn t cntinue. 13

15 2.5. Installatin Type In this dialg select which type f Remte Administratin yu wish t install. Yu have the fllwing ptins: Express Install This is the recmmended ptin. It will install the applicatin with standard cnfiguratin and cmpnents. Custm Install This ptin allws yu t select, which cmpnents yu wish t install. Upn clicking this ptins, a new sectin f this dialg appears, allwing yu t specify the destinatin flder where AVG AntiVirus Business Editin (and its cmpnents) will be installed. If yu want t select anther directry, specify the directry path r chse a directry frm yur lcal disk by pressing the Brwse buttn. Lite Install This chice installs the prduct with simplified wizards that cntain predefined settings fr UpdatePrxy rle nly. The AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard allws nly simple script generatin. N cnsle fr administratin will be installed and n AVG Data Center will be deplyed. Yu can find mre infrmatin abut the Lite Installatin in the AVG Admin Lite Chapter. If yu want t include an ptinal gadget t yur desktp, check the Installs and displays the AVG gadget... checkbx (available fr Windws Vista and Windws 7 r higher perating systems). Mre infrmatin abut this tpic can be fund in the Cnfiguratin/Sidebar/Desktp Gadgets chapter. 14

16 2.6. Custm Optins If yu chse Custm install in the Installatin Type dialg, yu will experience the fllwing screen: Select AVG AntiVirus Business Editin cmpnents that yu want t install. By default, all key cmpnents are selected. If yu decide n anther arrangement, check r uncheck the respective checkbx. T cntinue the installatin prcess, press the Next buttn: Nte: If yu want t use Graphic reprts, install the cmpnent n the cmputer where yu install AVG Admin Server, and n each cmputer where yu install AVG Admin Cnsle. Graphic reprts are generated by the AVG Admin Server and can be viewed frm the AVG Admin Cnsle Installatin Cmplete The Installatin cmplete dialg appears t cnfirm that AVG AntiVirus Business Editin and all its cmpnents were installed successfully. Yu can ptinally als decide t be part f the Prduct Imprvement Prgramme. T d s, simply keep the available checkbx ticked (recmmended). 15

17 Press the Finish buttn t finalize the installatin. If the installatin went thrugh crrectly, ne f the fllwing Wizards will launch autmatically depending n yur previus chices during the installatin prcess: AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard This Wizard will start autmatically if yu chse Quick r Custm installatin in the Installatin type dialg. Fr mre infrmatin see the AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard chapter. Nte: Yu must g thrugh this wizard in rder t mak e AVG AntiVirus Business Editin functin prperly. AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard Lite This Wizard will start if yu chse Lite Installatin in the Installatin type dialg. Fr mre infrmatin see the AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard Lite chapter. Nte: Yu must g thrugh this wizard in rder t mak e AVG AntiVirus Business Editin functin prperly. Nte: If an errr ccurred during the installatin prcess, r the installatin failed, an errr dialg appears. In that case cpy the available infrmatin and cntact ur technical supprt team. Use the cntact Supprt fr Business webpage. 16

18 3. AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard The AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard is launched immediately after the installatin f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin. It can als be launched any time later frm the Start menu prgram flder, i.e. All prgrams/avg Remte Administratin/AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard. The Wizard guides yu thrugh the cnfiguratin prcess fr the AVG Data Center database n a selected database engine. Using the wizard, yu can als cnfigure the AVG Admin Server in rder t mirrr the AVG updates in a lcal netwrk. The wizard leads yu thrugh the cnfiguratin prcess in a few steps listed in the fllwing summary. Nte: Navigatin in the wizard is as usual: The Back buttn takes yu ne step back in the wizard. The Next buttn takes yu ne step frward and als perfrms all actins selected in the current stage. Use the Help buttn t pen a cmprehensive infrmatin help related t the current step. By pressing the Cancel buttn, yu can quit the wizard at any stage, discarding the changes perfrmed s far Intrductin The first dialg explains the purpse f the Wizard and briefly describes tw main ptins. Click the Next buttn t prceed t the next step. Nte: We strngly recmmend yu cmplete this wizard in rder t mak e the AVG Admin Server run crrectly. 17

19 3.2. Deplying multiple UpdatePrxy rles Befre yu deply AVG AntiVirus Business Editin rles t yur server, yu may need t cnsider the fllwing: Yu can deply the UpdatePrxy rle t mre than ne server and distribute updates frm different surces t avid yur server verlading r having bandwidth issues. The allcatin f servers depends n yur netwrk size and yur server and netwrk specificatins. Generally speaking, if yur netwrk cnsists f mre than 150 statins r yur netwrk is divided int multiple segments in different lcatins, yu shuld cnsider deplying multiple UpdatePrxy rles t different servers and spread the lad. T deply the UpdatePrxy rle t anther server yu need t repeat the installatin and deplyment prcess n the ther server Rle Selectin This screen displays infrmatin n the AVG Admin Server current state. When everything is crrect, the respective infrmatin is displayed in green text. If this is nt yur first run and everything seems t be crrect (i.e. up-t-date with n warnings r errrs), there is n need t g thrugh the cnfiguratin prcess again (unless yu wish t change smething). If there is a cnfiguratin prblem, yu will be briefly infrmed abut the reasns, and the infrmatin will be highlighted in red clr. In such cases yu need t g thrugh the whle wizard t crrect the prblem. In the Server rles sectin yu must chse which server rle(s) yu want t run n this server. Yu need t select at least ne ptin, but yu can als select bth. The ptins are as fllws: 18

20 Data Center rle Allws central management f AVG statins cnfiguratin via the AVG Admin Cnsle, cllects scan results frm AVG statins, shws cmpnents states and much mre. If yu chse t install this rle nly, prceed t the Data Center Rle chapter. UpdatePrxy rle Serves as a prxy server fr dwnlading and distributing updates t yur statins. If yu chse t install this rle nly, prceed t the UpdatePrxy rle chapter. If yu select bth ptins, prceed t the Data Center Rle chapter Data Center Rle Select if yu are deplying AVG Admin Server fr the first time r repeatedly: I am deplying the AVG Admin Server fr the first time I am deplying the AVG Admin Serve again ver an existing database 3.5. Data Center Rle - First Deplyment If yu have selected in the Current state f AVG Admin Server step (see chapter Rle Selectin) the Data Center Rle, and yu are deplying the applicatin fr the first time, yu will experience the fllwing dialg. Nte: If yu are deplying the database repeatedly, please prceed t the chapter Repeated deplyment. 19

21 Select the database system crrespnding t yur needs. These ptins are available: Firebird This slutin is apprpriate fr smaller netwrks with up t 150 statins. The database is a standard part f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin installatin. Additinally, yu can chse a specific database character set frm the rll dwn menu crrespnding t yur language needs. Micrsft SQL Server Express The Micrsft SQL Server Express Editin is a reduced versin f the Micrsft SQL Server, it can serve up t 1000 statins. The prduct is nt a standard part f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin. Its usage is nt limited by any cmmercial license. Micrsft SQL Server The Micrsft SQL Server engine can serve ver 1000 statins in large netwrks. It is nt a standard part f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin and its usage is bund t the Micrsft SQL Server license. Oracle 10g/11g This database engine can serve ver 1000 statins in large netwrks. It is nt a standard part f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin and its usage is bund t a cmmercial license. MySQL 5 This database engine can serve ver 1000 statins in large netwrks. It is nt a standard part f AVG AntiVirus Business Editin and a cmmercial license may be needed fr use in a cmmercial envirnment. If yu chse a database type that is different t the ne yu have been currently using, the Wizard can imprt the cntents f the previusly exprted AVG Data Center int the newly chsen database type. Cntinue t the Databases Overview chapter Data Center Rle - Repeated Deplyment During the repeated deplyment, there is usually an existing database with statins available, s the Wizard will ffer yu t backup its cntents first: Nte: The back up is nt available if the database is in an errr state! 20

22 T d s, simply check the Perfrm Data Center database backup t flder checkbx and fill-in yur desired strage lcatin. The next dialg will infrm yu abut yur Data Center database status. There exist tw pssible cases either the Data Center database will be up-t-date r utdated. In the first case, yu will experience these tw ptins: Keep existing Data Center database This ptin will leave the database untuched. Select this ptin, if the database versin is up t date and yu need t preserve its cntents. Create new empty Data Center database Select this ptin t create cmpletely new database (the riginally stred data will be lst). We strngly recmmend t backup the Data Center database befre prceeding! On the ther hand, if the Data Center database will be utdated, yu will be asked, if yu wish t update the existing ne r create a new ne: Update existing Data Center database This ptin will update the database t the current versin. Select this ptin, if yu need t preserve the database cntents. 21

23 In the next step yu can ptinally check the Username and Passwrd checkbxes and fill-in yur preferred user name and passwrd that will be required each time yu launch the AVG Admin Cnsle, AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard r prcess statins update. Nte: If yu set an username and passwrd here, yu shuld als manually define the same values n all existing statins in rder t allw them crrectly cnnect t yur Datacenter! Depending n yur previus chices, yu can cntinue t ne f tw dialgs: 22

24 If yu kept the existing database, cntinue t the UpdatePrxy Rle chapter. Tick the Create grups by sub-dmains in AD checkbx in rder t autmatically create grups and srt statins int them accrding t the sub-dmain names available inside the Active Directry. Yu can als use the Advanced buttn t specify lgin details if different frm the currently lgged user: Imprt data int the database frm a flder T d s, tick the Imprt data int the database frm flder checkbx. The flder selectin field becmes available. Chse yur backup flder by clicking this buttn the riginal files fr imprt are stred. and find the flder, where If yu are currently upgrading frm the frmer AVG 2013 versin, yu can imprt yur ld AVG Data Center data in this dialg. 32 3.10. UpdatePrxy Rle This dialg will appear, if yu chse t deply the UpdatePrxy rle in the Rle Selectin dialg. Yu must chse a flder, int which the update files will be dwnladed and stred. If the flder des nt exist, yu will be asked if yu want t create it. Click this buttn t select the flder. Once finished, click the Next buttn t cntinue Update Servers 31

33 This dialg lets yu chse update servers, frm which the update files will be dwnladed by AVG Admin Server (fr further distributin). If yu are unsure abut these settings, we recmmend keeping the default cnfiguratin. It is quite understandable that statins with AVG and statins with lder AVG 2013 require different updates frm different update servers. Therefre yu can chse these servers separately using tw stand-alne tabs. If yu fr sme reasn d nt wish t dwnlad Anti-Spam updates, uncheck the Allw dwnlading f Anti-Spam updates item. This check bx indicates, that Anti-Spam updates will be dwnladed directly frm the Mailshell servers. Additinal infrmatin abut the Anti-Spam updates can be fund in the Cnfiguratin/Shared Settings fr Statins/Grups/Anti-Spam chapter. If yu need t change any f these servers, yu have the fllwing ptins: Press the Add buttn t define additinal update server: Enter the cmplete server address int the URL field including prefix and prt number, if ther than 80. Nte: Yu can nly use ne ptin frm the drp dwn menu. The list f update servers will be updated accrding t yur chice. In the list f update servers check which server(s) yu wuld like keeping fr the set f settings mentined abve. Fr statins with AVG 2013, use the same functin buttns as in the previus dialg. Hwever, fr statins with the newest AVG, there is n list f statins. Yu can nly chse between the tw fllwing ptins: AVG update servers - with this ptin selected, nly tw default servers defined by the manufacturer will be used fr updates. Admin Server update prxy URL - with this ptin selected, yu are allwed t enter yur wn update prxy URL (in additin t tw predefined nes). Please insert a cmplete server address int the text field, including the prefix and the prt number, if ther than 80 (e.g. myserver.cz.avg.cm:4158/avgupdate). As it is als included directly within the AVG Admin Cnsle, it might be mre cnvenient t use it frm there. Mre infrmatin can be fund in the AVG Admin Cnsle/Netwrk Installer chapter. The AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard allws yu t remtely install AVG n statins r t create installatin scripts fr n-site installatin. The wizard can be launched in tw ways: Frm the Windws Start menu/all Prgrams/AVG Remte Administratin/AVG Netwrk Installer Frm the AVG Admin Cnsle envirnment - upper menu Tls/Install AVG n statins... The wizard can be run either in the Basic r Advanced mde. Yu can select the Advanced mde by selecting the ptin Advanced mde at the beginning f the wizard. If the ptin is nt selected, the prgram will run in the Basic mde (recmmended fr mst users). This chapter describes the Basic mde, which is intended fr users wh prefer the easiest methd fr cnfiguratin and installatin. The installatin will include AVG infrmatin and parameters needed fr prper and cmprehensive functinality Recmmendatins fr Cmpnents Befre installing AVG n statins, please review the fllwing recmmendatins regarding individual cmpnents. AVG Surf-Shield This cmpnent uses a special driver that may require the cmputer restart in rder t successfully update itself. Therefre installing it t a server envirnment is nt recmmended. Nte: These exceptins d nt apply if yu nly use a cmputer with sme server perating system installed (e.g. Windws Server 2003 etc.) as a standard wrk statin withut server features enabled. 36

Welcme If yu have already used the AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard befre and saved a custmized cnfiguratin int a cnfiguratin file (available in the final step), yu can lad the settings nw by chsing the Lad settings buttn. T revert t the riginal settings preset by default, press the Default settings buttn. During the whle installatin prcess yu can decide t save the cnfiguratin prgress at any time by pressing F2 key r CTRL+S cmbinatin. A new dialg will appear allwing yu t chse a cnfiguratin file name. The dialg windw ffers the selectin between tw ptins fr creating and using the installatin script: Remte netwrk installatin This ptin allws yu t install AVG n statins available in the lcal netwrk (cmputers selected frm the dmain, Active Directry, accrding t IP ranges, imprted frm a list etc.). Yu can als use this ptin fr remving statins frm a frmer AVG Datacenter (and mving them t a new ne). Creatin f AVG installatin script This ptin allws yu t create an installatin script and a batch file fr lcal installatin r installatin frm a remvable media/netwrk flder. 38

Remte Netwrk Installatin Fr prper remte installatin, the wizard will first check whether AVG is already present n the target statin, then transfer the AVG installatin files and prcess the installatin accrdingly. Befre yu prceed, please review the netwrk requirements and exceptins regarding remte AVG installatin (fr example, n statins with Windws 10 yu have t enable administratr accunt etc.). Yu can find mre detailed infrmatin n the prts settings in the Netwrk Requirements chapter. 39

41 During this step it is necessary t define the fllwing installatin parameters: License infrmatin type in the license data such as Name, Cmpany, and License number (mandatry value). If yu wish t take the Windws username fr the Name field, d nt select the respective check bx, and leave the default system settings t be used. Flder with the AVG installatin package - type in the full path t AVG installatin package r use this buttn t select the prper flder. If yu have nt dwnladed the package yet, click the Dwnlad buttn and use the wizard t dwnlad the installatin file fr yu int the selected flder. Yu can view the dwnlad prgress abve the Dwnlad buttn. Prxy settings buttn - If yu need t use a prxy server t cnnect t the Internet, yu can fill in the prxy server details by clicking the Prxy settings buttn. License number change - Use this buttn t input a new license number t be used fr remte installatins f AVG. 40

Remte administratin - Enter the AVG Data Center cnnectin string int the AVG Data Center cnnectin string field. If applicable, als enter the Username and Passwrd. If yu d nt want t manage the statins via the AVG Admin Cnsle, simply uncheck this ptin. Add new statin int grup - If yu prefer t autmatically add new statin(s) int a custm grup, yu can chse the grup name here. 41

43 The wizard needs t scan sme statins first t find ut their status and then install AVG n them. In the Netwrk scanning methd sectin chse frm the drp dwn list, yur preferred methd fr selecting statins. The pssible ptins are as fllws: All statins frm the dmain - this ptin will scan all statins available in yur lcal dmain. Nte: This ptin is available nly if the current cmputer is part f a dmain. Enter an IP range - this ptin will allw yu t chse a specific range f IP addresses. Imprt statins frm file - a new dialg will appear and yu will be able t chse a file with a list f statins t be scanned. The surce text file shuld cntain ne statin name r an IP address per line. Alternatively yu can als use CSV file. Select a single statin - this ptin lets yu type in a specific Cmputer name (DNS name) r IP address. Select frm Active Directry - allws yu t chse specific statins directly frm the Active Directry. Nte: This ptin is available nly if the current cmputer is part f a dmain. The List f accunts sectin is meant t facilitate yur wrk and t accelerate installatin prcess. If yur access rights are nt sufficient fr AVG installatin n the remte statin, yu will be asked t enter a username that has administratr privileges (a username that is member f an administratr's grup). If there is n cmmn administratr accunt fr all statins (with the same lgin name and passwrd) yu will be asked separately fr every statin. This sectin allws yu t create a list f accunts that will be used during remte installatin; this way yu 42

44 will avid entering multiple credentials. Yu can add accunts t the list by clicking the Add buttn (r delete them using the Remve buttn). If yu wish t keep yur list f accunts fr further use, check the Save list f accunts bx. Hwever, this is nt recmmended fr safety reasns. If there is n cmmn administratr accunt fr all statins (with the same lgin name and passwrd) yu will be asked separately fr every statin. Pressing the Cancel buttn will cause the current statin installatin t be skipped, and the wizard will cntinue installatin n the next statin in the list. AVG will then be transferred t the statin and installed. Yu will see n each line, if the installatin was successful (hwever it may take sme time t prcess). Database exprt... - This dialg allws yu t create a backup file (i.e. exprt the Data Center cntents t a file) and save it t a lcal flder n a cmputer, frm which the AVG Admin Cnsle is running. View menu The View menu ffers the fllwing ptins: Panels Here yu can shw r hide individual main interface panels (Tlbar, Navigatin tree etc.) simply by checking r unchecking them. T restre the riginal psitin f all panels, use the Default psitin f panels item. The panels will be restred after yu restart the applicatin. Nn-cmpliance cnditins... Here yu can chse which cnditins n a statin are t be cnsidered as nn-cmpliant. Accrding t yur selectin, the nn-cmpliant statins will then be highlighted in red within all available views. 84

T select a recrd frm the central table yu need t perfrm a muse click ver the desired recrd. Yu can select mre recrds at the same time: press the CTRL key (adding a new recrd t the current selectin), r the SHIFT key (selecting all recrds between the first and the last highlighted recrd). The Graphic reprts allw users t quickly and easily generate well arranged reprts. Reprts may shw varius summaries and statistics. Graphical reprts are accessible frm the main AVG Admin Cnsle navigatin tree. The reprts are always generated in the language that has been chsen during installatin f the AVG Admin Server. Yu can generate reprts in ne f tw ways: By navigating t Graphic reprts/reprt schedules and chsing t define a new reprt schedule. 114

Usually this culd be a running client r an Internet brwser. Rebt the cmputer after finishing AVG setup if needed - in certain cases (Firewall cmpnent installatin fr example) a cmputer restart may be required t cmplete the installatin prcess. Display a ntificatin message regarding scheduled system restart n the remte cmputer - If the previus checkbx is checked, yu can als define a delay befre the restart will take place. The default value is ten minutes. Select type f installatin prgress visibility - frm the drp dwn menu select ne f the fllwing: hidden installatin - n infrmatin will be displayed t the currently lgged user during the setup prcess. shw installatin prgress nly - the installatin will nt require any user attentin, but the prgress will be fully visible n the statin. shw installatin wizard - the installatin will be visible n the statin and the currently lgged 140

144 7. AVG Admin Server AVG Admin Server is used t secure cmmunicatin between the AVG statins and the AVG Data Center n the server. Thrugh the AVG Admin Server the AVG statins cnnect t the AVG Data Center using the TCP prtcl (r the HTTP prtcl, t be exact) that is a part f each Windws perating system installatin. Therefre, the AVG statins d nt need any ther third party cmpnent t be able t cnnect t the remte administratin system. The AVG Admin Server can serve as a prxy server fr dwnlading and distributing updates t yur statins within the lcal netwrk (by deplying the UpdatePrxy rle). It basically wrks as a simple web server ffering the update files t AVG statins. The update files are dwnladed frm the AVG central update servers just nce, which significantly decreases the internet cnnectin link lad, especially in larger netwrks. The AVG Admin Server is started autmatically after deplyment. If nt, yu can start it manually frm the Windws start menu All prgrams/avg Remte Administratin by selecting AVG Admin Server Mnitr, buttn Start server. Mre infrmatin abut the cnfiguratin f AVG Admin Server is available in the Cnfiguratin/AVG Admin Server Settings chapter. 143

145 8. AVG Admin Lite AVG Admin Lite is a simplified versin f AVG Remte Installatin. It cntains nly the AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard Lite and the AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard Lite. N management cnsle is available (such as AVG Admin Cnsle), r any advanced ptins. AVG Admin Server Deplyment Wizard Lite - nly allws deplyment f the UpdatePrxy rle. AVG Netwrk Installer Wizard Lite - nly allws AVG Installatin Script creatin. In rder t install and use nly the AVG Admin Lite features, yu must have chsen the Lite Installatin ptin during the AVG AntiVirus Business Editin installatin prcess (Fr mre infrmatin see chapter Installatin type) AVG Admin Deplyment Wizard Lite The first dialg explains the purpse f the Wizard. If the lcatin des nt cntain the latest AVG installatin package, the wizard will try t dwnlad the file frm the Internet nce yu click the Next buttn. In such a case please make sure yur Internet cnnectin is available. Yu can chse ne f the fllwing: Prtable data strage medium (USB drive) If yu have nt dne s already, insert a remvable USB device (Flash drive, prtable hard drive etc.) and hit the Refresh buttn t see the device in the drp dwn list. Make sure the drive is nt write-prtected. Flder Selecting this ptin will let yu chse a flder, where the script will be stred. If yu chse a netwrk flder, make sure it has crrect write-access rights. 148

150 Cmpletin If the script creatin prceeded successfully, yu will see a dialg similar t this ne. Click the Finish buttn t clse the wizard. T use the script saved t a flder: 1. Cpy the whle cntents f the previusly chsen flder t yur statin. Nte: If yu used a netwrk flder fr string the script, yu can navigate t that flder directly ver the netwrk. 2. On the statin navigate t this flder and run the AvgSetup.bat file. 3. The cmmand line windw will appear and the installatin will begin. 4. Once the installatin is cmpleted, the windw will clse autmatically. T use the script frm a remvable device: 1. Insert the remvable device t yur statin. 2. If the autrun feature is enabled in the statin's perating system, the installatin will start autmatically. 3. If nt, pen the remvable device disk letter and run the AvgSetup.bat file manually. 4. Nte: Yu can use Default buttn t restre the riginal settings f the current dialg General cntrl and pririty levels All setting values applicable fr statins r grups can be defined as a mandatry value r as an ptinal value (default setting). A value can be changed frm mandatry t ptinal frm its cntext menu (right muse buttn). The individual levels f pririties are set as fllws (srted frm the highest t lwest pririty): Shared settings fr statins 150

152 Shared settings defined as mandatry in the Shared settings fr statins (available thrugh upper tp menu Tls) always have higher pririty than the thers. Which means, that items set as mandatry in the mentined settings list cannt be changed at any lwer levels. Shared settings in grup Shared settings defined as mandatry in the statin grups (item Shared settings in grup available frm the specific grup wrkspace via right-clicking the cntext menu in the Statins branch) have higher pririty, than the particular statin settings, but lwer than the Shared settings fr statins. Individual statin settings Particular settings fr statins are cnsidered t have the lwest pririty, which means, that all items set as mandatry in higher levels mentined abve cannt be changed there. Individual settings fr statins can be accessed by right-clicking a statin and selecting Statin settings -> Settings. By default, mandatry items are displayed as bld and can be easily changed by right-clicking n the certain item's lck icn and chsing frm the cntext menu Mandatry item value. The cntext menu cntains als the fllwing ptins: All mandatry - sets mandatry flag t all items in the current dialg. All mnitred - resets the mandatry flag fr all items in the current dialg. By marking an item as mandatry, the user n the lcal statin will nt be able t custmize such setting. The individual levels are distinguished by icns next t each item. Generally, an item set as mandatry is marked by the black "lcked" lck icn. The icn with red lck means, that the setting is already set as mandatry in Shared settings fr statins (highest level) and the icn with blue lck indicates, that the setting is marked as mandatry in Shared settings in grup. All bjects included in the grup then take the cnfiguratin set up fr this grup. This way the administratr can define the grup cnfiguratin, and change the cnfiguratin previusly set fr a specific statin by simply assigning the statin int a grup. Statin assignments int grups make administratin much easier, and shuld be used if the number f statins exceeds the number f recrds fr ne screen (i.e. apprximately bjects). The prcedure f creatin and administratin f statin grups is the same in bth cases. The fllwing text describes the respective prcedure fr statins: 188

There are three main ways hw t manage users' access: Allwed actins It is pssible t disallw access t different actins n a lcal statin by managing allwed actins fr mre infrmatin see chapter Cnfiguratin/Shared Settings fr Statins/Grups/Allwed Actins. Mandatry settings The mandatry/mnitred settings can be used fr disabling/enabling varius actins within the statin settings. By marking an item as mandatry, the user n the lcal statin will nt be able t custmize it. On this system, the lcal administratr accunt is disabled by default. In rder t perfrm the remte installatin n target statin, yu will have t enable it first. 1. Press the Windws-key (the key with the Windws lg, lcated in the lwer-left part f yur keybard). This shuld pen the Start menu r bring yu t the Start Screen interface (depending n hw Windws 10 is cnfigured n the system). 2. Type cmd and wait fr the results t be displayed. 3. Right-click the Cmmand Prmpt result and select Run as administratr frm the cntext menu. 4. T activate the disabled administratr accunt, type the fllwing cmmand at a cmmand prmpt: net user administratr /active:yes 5. The administratr accunt is nt passwrd prtected, but it is highly recmmended t assign sme passwrd t it. The Windws 10 statin is nw ready fr remte AVG installatin Requests handling and status messages This chapter describes requests, their handling and prcessing within AVG Data Center. Requests sent t a single statin If a request is invked frm AVG Admin Cnsle (e.g. request fr settings synchrnizatin, update perfrming, etc.) a message appears in the Status Windw and at the same time, the request is stred within the AVG Data Center. Then the statin is ntified abut the request and if it is nline, it will start prcessing it immediately. Infrmatin abut the result is delivered back t the AVG Data Center and instantly displayed in the Status windw. Errr messages appear in red clr. In special cases tw situatins may happen: The statin is nline but fr sme reasn cannt accept the request (e.g. ntificatin prt is nt wrking crrectly fr sme reasn), the server will try t peridically delivery the request (default interval is five minutes). 199

201 Nte: This interval can be changed in Shared settings fr statins/grups, Remte Administratin item, advanced settings sectin, Retrieve messages frm server every drp dwn menu. The statin is ffline and will receive the request immediately after it gets nline. In case f special request that requires mre time, the status windw will display a message saying, that the statin has started prcessing the request and as sn as it finishes als the result. Requests sent t grups/all statins Sme requests can be sent t a grup r all statins (by right-clicking n a grup name r n statins item and chsing and actin frm the cntext menu). Such request is stred in the AVG Data Center and then distributed by AVG Admin Server t individual statins f the chsen grup. Als the result is later displayed individually fr each statin. Duplicated requests If a same request is sent multiple times t a statin, it is nt stred in AVG Data Center and the statin will nly prcess the first ne. This applies als t ffline statins. In ther wrds there is n need t send mre than ne request, since the duplicated requests are disregarded. Requests expiratin Requests, which are nt prcessed in 30 days are deleted frm the AVG Data Center Hw t manage access rights If yu require mre peple t access AVG Admin Cnsle and administer statins/settings n a different level, yu can create varius user accunts with miscellaneus access rights. T manage access t the AVG Data Center via AVG Admin Cnsle, navigate t the Data Center upper menu and select AVG Data Center settings item. 200

203 Active If yu right-click n an existing accunt name, yu will be able t activate r deactivate it by this functin. Please nte, that yu need t have at least ne accunt active! New Accunt Select this ptin t create a new user accunt: Enter the accunt name and passwrd (twice fr verificatin). The Assciated Windws system lgin fr SSO field can be used fr entering an existing Windws system lgin name. If yu then lgn t Windws under this username, yu will als be able t lgin t the AVG Data Center withut entering any passwrd. Nte, that the accunt name r passwrd des nt have t be the same, as the Windws system lgin name. Optinally, yu can add sme accunt descriptin. Edit Accunt This ptin will allw yu t edit an existing accunt. Clne Accunt Right-click n an existing accunt and chse this ptin t clne its settings int a new ne. Yu will be required t enter new accunt name, passwrd etc. Delete Accunt This ptin will allw yu t delete an existing accunt. T each accunt crrespnds number f accunt rights and grup access ptins. By default, all actins are 202

204 preset as allwed. T change the settings, simply click n the accunt name yu wish t change and mdify the items in the right part f the dialg, either n the Accunt rights tab, r the Grup access tab. Accunt rights tab This tab cntains list f actins available fr the chsen accunt name. T frbid an actin, uncheck the checkbx next t its name. If yu uncheck the checkbx next t the name f categry (like Statins, Scans etc.), yu will frbid all actins frm this categry. Grup access tab The Grup access tab allws yu t set access rights t user defined grups f statins. Duble-click n ne f these grups t trigger a drp dwn menu (r right-click n it t trigger the cntext menu with same cntents). Nw chse the permissin type. Yu can give the user f the accunt the Full access t the grup, allw him/her just t view the grup by selecting Read nly, r cmpletely frbid him/her t access the grup by chsing N access ptin Hw t maintain the Data Center database AVG Data Center database maintenance is easy due t predefined scripts, that can be easily accessed frm the Tls/Database Maintenance upper menu. The predefined scripts are as fllws: Unify statins with equal identificatin Chsing this script will remve duplicated statins frm the AVG Data Center accrding t chsen statin identificatin methd (e.g. if the identificatin methd is IP address, all statins with the same IP address will be remved).
