Accessing WealthElements via W.connect

Transcription

1 Accessing WealthElements via W.connect Winfund offers a feature that allows an active W.connect user to export client and spouse contact information and investment data into EquiSoft s Web-based WealthElements application. U S I N G W E A L T H E L E M E N T S Once you are setup with access, you can begin exporting clients from W.connect to WealthElements. 1. Login to W.connect as a user that has access to WealthElements. 2. From the Client View screen, search and flag the client whose information you wish to transfer to WealthElements. If you flag the Use Advanced Search checkbox, you have the option to search with more specific criteria. Use a combination of the fields to narrow your search. 3. Once you have selected the client, go to the RESOURCES menu and select the W.Portfolio option. This will bring you to the W.Portfolio Options page. PLEASE NOTE: W.Portfolio is Winfund s branding for WealthElements. If you try to access the application without first selecting a client, you will be prompted with an error message: You must select a client! If you receive an error message that reads Access Denied!, then contact your head office to enable access for your User ID. This error message could also indicate that you have changed your password on the WealthElements website. If this is the case, your User ID is permanently blocked from WealthElements. 2 4. In the Options screen, there are four buttons: Back: If you would like to continue working on the previous page you viewed, you can use this button to go back to that screen. Open Client: This button simply opens an existing client in WealthElements, without updating or transferring any information from W.connect to WealthElements. The last session modified in WealthElements (for this client) will be opened. Open Client and Transfer: This allows you to create a new WealthElements client or update an existing WealthElements client s contact information and assets. A new session will be created. Open Prospect: If you would like to work with a prospective client s information and off-book assets, use this button to open a blank WealthElements template. From here you can work with existing potential clients or create new ones. Note: You cannot change your password on the WealthElements website! Because no information is sent from WealthElements back to W.connect, the password change will not be reflected when you login to W.connect. You will not be able to access WealthElements from W.connect again. The next time you attempt to do so, you will receive an error message notifying you that access has been denied. The Open Client and Open Client and Transfer options will open a new browser window with the W.connect information populated in WealthElements fields after your User ID and password have been verified. The Open Prospect button will open a new browser window with a blank WealthElements template. The window may not appear if you have a pop-up blocker enabled. If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2, remember to click on the yellow bar at the top of the page to allow pop-ups from this site. 3 The File ID field is often used to link spouses together in Winfund. Therefore, if the File ID of the selected client matches the File ID of any other clients in the database, the matching clients will be displayed in a new section just above the buttons on the WealthElements Options page. You have the option of transferring one of these clients into the WealthElements application with the primary client. The secondary client s information will be populated in the Spousal fields, and all of their financial information will be exported with the primary client s portfolio, giving the advisor a consolidated view of their assets. Note: The Spousal Information section on the Client s KYC will not be transferred. Only those clients with matching File Ids will trigger the option to transfer a secondary client. You are now working within the WealthElements application! I N F O R M A T I O N T R A N S F E R R E D T O W E A L T H E L E M E N T S Not all client information in W.connect will be transferred to the WealthElements application. The requirements are as follows: 1. Only Open, RRSP, RRIF, LIRA, and LIF plans will be transferred. 2. Within the plans listed above, both active and inactive mutual and segregated fund information will be exported to WealthElements. Once WealthElements can verify the User ID and password, W.connect will export the following fields to WealthElements: Client Information: o Language o Title o First Name o Last Name o Address o Address o City o Province o Postal Code o Home Telephone o Cell Phone o Fax o Business Telephone (but not the extension) o Date of birth Plan Information: o Plan Type Account Information o Fund Number o Amount (Market Value) Note: Any accounts using US$ funds will be converted to CDN$ funds before the client information is transferred to W.Portfolio. 4 Secondary Client with same File ID (Family Group) appears on the screen only if W.Connect identifies other clients with the same File ID as the one selected. If this option is selected, the following secondary client s information will be exported and populated in the Spousal fields: Client Information: o First Name o Last Name o Date of birth Plan Information: o Plan Type Account Information o Fund Number o Amount (Market Value) Here is an example of a screen in WealthElements. 5 Here is another example of a screen in WealthElements. T O C H A N G E C L I E N T S I N W E A L T H E L E M E N T S You must close the WealthElements window and browser, otherwise you will not be able to transfer data and you will get an error. It is preferable to logout (button on the top right of the page), but not mandatory. Return to the W.Connect page, select a different client, click on the RESOURCES menu then select the sportfolio option. If you want to re-load the same client, you must re-load the RESOURCES page before exporting; otherwise you will get an error. A D D I T I O N A L N O T E S Remember that any changes made on WealthElements are only saved in WealthElements. The modified client information is not sent back and updated in W.connect. Once W.connect exports the client s information to WealthElements, the advisor has effectively left the W.connect site, and is now working on a completely separate website.
