The new software structure is intended to drive consistency and simplification by matching specific entry, midrange, and high-end customer requirements. The previous C5 thru H5 Processor billing s are being withdrawn. Refer to Software withdrawal WP , dated February 09, Clients that have previously purchased AIX Editions that are covered under an IBM Software Maintenance Agreement (SWMA) may migrate to this new structure and prices when the SWMA contract is renewed. Software Maintenance Agreement renewal proposals for the AIX operating system created on or after the effective date of this announcement will be based on the new pricing structure and prices. Pricing for IBM Systems Director VMControl Standard Edition and IBM Systems Director VMControl Enterprise Edition will change so that it is based on the of processor cores activated within each managed server. Previously, pricing for these Editions was based on the of managed servers. IBM Systems Director VMControl Express Edition will remain available for no additional charge. 4 Processor A processor (commonly called a CPU or core) is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. It is a functional unit within a computing device that interprets and executes instructions. A processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic or logic unit. With multicore technology, each core is considered a processor. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate of processors based on the level of all processor cores activated and available for use by the program on the server. 11 Preinstallation The preinstallation option is only valid if accompanied by a hardware system order for the preinstalled AIX V6.1 or AIX V5.3 operating system specifying the preinstallation option. It is recommended that backup media be chosen with preinstalled orders. Not all of the software offered under the licensed program will be preinstalled on the system disk. To take delivery of backup media, media 3435 must be specified. Software preinstalled on the hard disk does not include all of the function included on the media. Licensing IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program.
