About: Steve Webb Steve Webb Solid Edge Field Support Steve is an Applications Engineer in the Solid Edge Field Support group. He has over 25 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and Mechanical CAD. He holds a two year drafting certification from the Williamston Career and Technology Center. Page 3
What you will learn We will take a look at some of the new tools offered in ST6 draft environment. These tools include In-Place table edits, embedded documents, dimension and annotation alignments tools, and drawing view alignment. These new enhancements make the drawings more user friendly and comply with company standards. Page 4

Block Tables - Hands-On List Nested Blocks List with nested structure List Nested Blocks Use level based numbers Page 66
Block Tables - Hands-On Prior to ST6, Solid Edge had no support for IPA (In-Place Activate) of inserted objects. Double clicking an inserted object would have open the file in its own application. ST6 supports IPA of an inserted object when double clicking that object. Thus meaning when double clicking an inserted object, user will edit the object inside of Solid Edge draft file not the hosting application. Page 67
Support IPA for Foreign File Types in Draft - Hands-On Switch to the Embedded sheet tab. Double click the Word document on the left side to edit. Select Conference Name and type in Solid Edge. Click the date field and add a date. Click outside the doc to close. Page 68
