1 PURPLE PORTAL Tiered Bandwidth Guide
2 Tiered Bandwidth Tiered bandwidth has three different sections; by default, each will be turned off at customer level. Each one will need turning on and set before they become available for the venue to access. All types of Tiered bandwidth are supported on all flashed hardware but not all enterprise kit supports all types of tiered bandwidth. Some configuration maybe needed, please refer to for further details or contact our support department. There is a drop-down menu at the top of the screen that contains the three different levels of Tiered bandwidth. These are: Session Time Speed Limiting Data Limiting Session Time 1. Click the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select Session time from the list. 2. You will need to turn on by clicking the toggle menu option from to. 3. The area will expand. 4. The first option is Generate Vouchers; this will allow you to generate access vouchers with prepaid Tiered bandwidth to hand out to your visitors. This option will be available for all 3 types of tiered bandwidth. To activate click the button. The following window will open.
3 First you need to specify the number of vouchers needed, this is a free form text box. You can have up to 10,000 vouchers created. Next specify the access value, this will be either time or data depending on which tiered bandwidth option you are in. Clicking the dropdown and selecting the value. Finally, the valid until. Clicking the calendar icon and selecting the date the voucher will expire. The valid from will start once the voucher code has been added to the portal. Finally click the button. Another window will appear giving information on the vouchers. It will advise on the number of vouchers requested, that the voucher will come via in an attachment and the time it will take to generate and be ready to use by the customer. Click the button. 5. We now have the different settings. The first to set is Restrict customisation, by default this setting it turned off but if turned on all configuration and price information will be locked to this setting and prevent any customisation. 6. Next, we have Inherit settings, by default this will be turned on and so stop any alterations being made to any of the settings. When you hover your mouse over any of the settings the screen will be grey and a message will appear: You are currently inheriting this price structure, please turn off Inherit settings if you wish to make alterations. Click the Inherit settings toggle menu option from to to allow customisation of the settings. 7. Then is Free period, this is a drop-down menu allowing you to set the period of time that a WiFi user can have free access for before having to purchase additional time. The available free periods to select are: 5 minutes 10 minutes 15 minutes 30 minutes 60 minutes
4 8. Followed by Free period reset, this is the time that a WiFi user's initial free period resets after. The available options to select are: 1 hour 2 hours 3 hours 6 hours 12 hours 24 hours 9. The next option is Free period requires a password, if turned on this is where you manually specify the password users will use to gain access to the free WiFi or use the Generarte button to automatically generate a password. 10. Next is Block access after free period, if turned on this will stop users from authenticating again until the reset time. When turned on, the user will be presented with a message once the free time has lapsed. You can set this message in the Blocked message text box. If left blank the default message will be displayed. 11. The remaining settings will also be blocked from accessing as the remaining setting are all purchase related and so not applicable. 12. The next setting is Max devices per session. This will allow you to set how many devices can share a tiered bandwidth session, including the device the session was purchased on. All devices must be signed in with the same user account unless "Allow sharing between users" is enabled. Clicking the drop-down will give you the following options to select: 1 (no sharing) The next option is Allow sharing, having this option turned on will allow up to five users to share the same tiered bandwidth session by entering a code that is given when the session is first purchased. 14. Next is the Currency drop-down menu, from here you can select the currency for your Tiered Bandwidth pricing structure. The available options are: Australian Dollar British Pound Sterling Canadian Dollar Euro Indian Rupee New Zealand Dollar US Dollar
5 When a currency is selected the retail area below will update to show the correct currency symbol next to the retails price. It will also convert the original retail price to reflect the new currency using the latest exchange rate. 15. You can now select the available Time period; all time periods will be enabled by default but you have the option to disable by clicking the box next to time period you want to disable. You can also change the default Retail price by clicking into the retail box, deleting the existing price and entering the new price. This new price will then be the set retail price for your venues, but they have the option to change also unless the Restrict customisation is switched on. 16. Now click the button to progress to the next section. 17. You now need select which venues will have tiered bandwidth session time live, a list of all venues under this customer will be displayed but by default they will all be turn off. To switch on, click the toggle button to for the relevant venue. The area will expand and display a list of all the AP s live for that venue, each AP will have a tick box to the left of the AP. This will by default be unselected, to select click the tick box. You will need to do this for each venue and each AP you wish to have tiered bandwidth live on. NOTE If you add an AP after you have setup and saved Tiered Bandwidth and you wish this AP to also have Tiered bandwidth applied, you will need to go back in and place a tick next to this new AP and click the Save button. 18. Once all the selections have been made, click the button. 19. You will then be taken back to the first screen; Session time is now available at venue level to configure. Speed limiting

Next, we have two drop-down menus for Download speed cap and Upload limit cap, both these drop-down will default to 100kbps but clicking the drop-down will display the available capping speeds. These are: 100 Kbps 512 Kbps 1 Mbps 2 Mbps 3 Mbps 4 Mbps 5 Mbps 10 Mbps 9. Next is the Currency drop-down menu, from here you can select the currency for your Tiered Bandwidth pricing structure. There are three options available in the drop-down, these are: Download Only data downloaded by the user s device will count towards the limit. Upload Only data uploaded by the user s device will count towards the limit. Combined both downloaded and uploaded data will count towards the limit. 7. Next is Free data drop-down menu, this is the amount of free data a WiFi user can consume before having to purchase additional data. The available options to select are: 100 MB 250 MB
9 500MB 1 GB Next, we have the Free data reset period drop-down menu, the available options here are: 1 hour 2 hours 3 hours 6 hours 12 hours 24 hours You can set a password for users to use the free period of time, enabling this option will restrict the free period to users who know the password. This is a toggle button to switch on or off. 1. Click the toggle button to, this will display an additional option to set. This additional option is Password for free period, this is where you can manually specify the password users will use to gain access to the free WiFi or use the automatically generate a password. button to Next is Block access after free period, if turned on this will stop users from authenticating again until the reset time. 1.
