3 Maps Without Limits Insight Genesis allows you to create customized maps in 4 easy steps: Insight Genesis Quick Start Guide is a brief outline on how to start using Insight Genesis and the setting for optimal sonar log creation. For a more detailed view please refer to the Using Insight Genesis link or refer to the demonstration video. 1. Record a sonar log using your Lowrance/Simrad/B&G chartplotter to an m/sd card. 2. Take the m/sd card to your computer and Upload the sonar log file to the Insight Genesis web site. 3. Within minutes of uploading your sonar log you will receive a link in your to View your customized contour map. 4. Insight Genesis provides you the option to purchase a Download of your map for use on your for your Lowrance, Simrad or B&G chartplotter. For those who have subscribed to annual Insight Genesis service you will be able to download an unlimted number of your maps that are securely stored online. 5 2 Insight Genesis Basics Step 1 Log in and click on the Insight Genesis tab Step 2 Install Upload tool to your computer Insight Genesis Upload Tool will facilitate transferring sonar logs from your computer to Insight Genesis. 6 To upload your Sonar logs, click on the Select Files button and then locate your sonar logs on your computer. Multiple files can be uploaded at the same time, by depressing the CTRL or SHIFT buttons, while selecting the files. Once the files have been selected, click on the Upload button and the Tool will do the rest. Step 4 View Map Within minutes after the upload is complete you should receive an from Insight Genesis notifying you that your map is ready to view. Click on the link in that and it will allow you to log-in and view your map. You will also see a progress notification in your Insight Genesis account (pictured below) as the map is being created. 7 Step 7 Download Map To create your customized map for use on your Lowrance, Simrad Yachting or B&G chartplotter, click on the Map Generation tab, choose what available options you would like included on your map and then click Generate to start the map generation process. In a few minutes the map will be ready. Save the file to an m/sd card. Then open the m/ SD card and double click on the file, which will unzip the files for the chartplotter to read. When you load the card into your unit, it will auto-recognize the map and display it. You will need to scroll to the geographic location of that body of water, unless the chartplotter has a GPS signal. Insight Genesis Basics Insight Genesis Quick Start Guide 7

8 3 Optimal Sonar Log Recording For the best possible maps please follow the following recommendations. If you need more detailed instructions on how to make the setting changes to your unit please refer to the Insight Genesis User Guide located on the Questions tab. Recommended Settings Save the log file to the MEMORY CARD Ping Rate = 15 pings/sec Recommended Speed = 8-12 mph Maximum Speed = 20 mph Bytes per sounding: 3200 File Size - Keep under 2 gig files is best. You can do multiple files and merge them if needed, with a subscription. 200KHz or Log All Channels (Mandatory) For more detailed instruction please refer to the Insight Genesis User Guide Recording Track on the Water Speed of the boat should not exceed 20MPH. Minimum spacing should be based on size of water body: Size of the Body of Water Minimum Spacing <5 Acres 5 Meters / 15 Feet 5-10 Acres 10 Meters / 30 Feet Acres 15 Meters / 45 Feet Acres 20 Meters / 60 Feet >30 Acres 40 Meters / 120 Feet Apply a crisscross design if possible with one path looping the near shore area To assist track spacing and view progress, use the Lowrance, Simrad Yachting or B&G chartplotter Chart to view the path while on the water.
